Anyone switching back to iPhone?

They're selectively visually challenged because they don't want to use an iPhone at the moment me thinks.

Clearly you are not old enough to appreciate the need/desire for a larger phone. Do not insult me by suggesting I'm making excuses. The iPhone (all of them) are flat out to small for me. Sure, I could pinch and zoom and other such things EVERY time I'm trying to deal with small type. I choose to work comfortably with my large Note which I rarely have to do that with. It also provides me with a far larger portion of my spreadsheets to work on without moving the screen this way and that. But I guess if all you're interested in is tesxting and music, then yes, the iPhone is perfect for you.

I have both an iPad Air LTE and retina Mini LTE. I just choose the screen size that suits what I'm doing, be it phone or one of the tablets. As a technophile having multiple devices is right up my alley. I'm glad the Note's screen works for you.

The problem with that is when you upgrade, you're basically getting the same device with a few extra bells and whistles. At least if I get bored of my Note 3 (NOT going to happen), I have a LARGE slection to choose from if I want to stay Android.

I agree that the Android selection is much better. However, its something about the iPhone that I enjoy and that's why I keep one. Maybe it's the small form factor and ease of use out the box.

Which is why I say there are those that have it precisely for that reason and others who have it because its very easy to use and they are able to learn the basics of what to do with it and that's all they do. I think the typical iPhone user (correct me if I'm wrong) centers their whole world around the use of all the iPhones apps vs anything the phone itself can do. I like the Note 3, not necessarily for the apps themselves but for all those other things I can do with it (cut and paste, split screen, note taking on the screen), etc. In other words, all of the things more directly associated with the phones abilities and not the apps ability. Am I making sense here?

You are making sense. Personally, I'm not an app guy. Whatever apps I used are on both platforms. Sometimes it's just the simplicity of use and then there's the things that you discussed about the N3 that are very useful.

That and I like the simpleness of how the OS works. I can certainly appreciate, however, why some might find iOS restrictive. Truth be told, I came back to iOS primarily for the simplicity of iOS, the quality of the apps I USE, build materials I LIKE, and the accessory ecosystem. Those may be weak reasons to the android enthusiast but those were my reasons for switching this time.

There is definitely something to be said for simplicity. That's exactly why I took a vacation to the land of Windows Phone 8. I still love the OS and it's fresh look but I began to run into to many instances where an app I wanted was only available for iOS or Android. It seriously irritated me because I think (still do) that WP has a lot to offer. That said, there just isn't anything I can do if developers don't get on board. I love my Note 3 and the ability to have all the apps I need and I am SO not an app crazed fan but I need what I need. If I ever do go to an iPhone it will because I once again feel the need to simplify but I seriously hope that by that time, Apple will have come down off it's high horse and given us something just a tad bigger for pete's sake.

That is why I have an iPhone because of the simplicity. I do like android and sometimes I get bored easy with phones. I'll switch in a heartbeat, but I really want to stick to one daily driver and a back up.

It's not that android is difficult at all, because it's not, but you have Samsung's skin, HTC's skin, LG's skins, Sony's skin, stock android and some other skins not listed. This means the look and feel is different on each device. That's great to many, especially those that like to get in there and hack around. But after a while some of us get tired of seeing how things work differently on all the different choices. On my phone and tablets things work the same because the UI is the same. Is it a big deal to experience the different UI elements that are to be had amongst differing android devices? No. But some like the way things are done in iOS and the hardware iOS runs on. Some choose to hate it. I'm happy to say that iOS sucks if that makes anyone feel better, as long as I can keep using it.

+1
These are the things I love about iDevices as well. I have to admit that the iOS is more solid than Android's OS. Restarting my phone every few days is a nuisance, but because of other things I love about the Note, I can overlook it.

I gave my other half my iPhone 5 when i switched to note 3 a couple of weeks ago. I don't miss it one bit, i use the pen quite a lot for sketching and writing, i love the huge screen and all my fave apps are so much easier on the larger screen (especially word games). I can't get over how fast it is. I love customising the home screen and i'm really surprised at how smart Google Now is! For now i'll probably still buy movies from iTunes because i've got an apple tv plugged in but i couldn't go back to an apple mobile now.

We have a lot of Apple products, iPhones and iPads. I bought a Samsung because it was sick of being tied in to iOS. After two weeks I couldn't imagine going back to an iPhone. Every time I help my wife with her iPhone I cringe at the small screen with disgust:) Being able to rock a huge SD card is awesome. Also I never used iTunes because my music is provided by Mr.Torrent.

I have just recently moved back to Android. I have the Nexus 5 and the C720 Chromebook. I had an iPhone 5S with two iPads. I still really like iOS devices. The build quality is superior to anything else that I had ever owned and the OS itself is very intuitive and fluid. The screen size of the iPhone has never bothered me, not even when it was 3.5 inches. But I got the Android itch and decided to switch. I move back and forth all the time so any switch is short-lived. But if there is anything that bothers me about Apple products, it would be price. This is the only area where I have problems with Apple. Now, I do understand their premium design comes at a cost, but I often question whether or not the cost is worth it. For example, a 32 GB iPhone 5S retails at $750. You get a dual core, sub HD 4 inch screen, 8 MP camera, and no NFC. I can buy a 32 GB Nexus 5 with a 5 inch full HD screen, quad core processor, 8MP camera, and with NFC ($400), an Acer C720 Chromebook, and a Kindle Fire HD ($139) for the same price. My Nexus and Chromebook are of very good quality. Not Apple quality, but very good. I get a disturbingly larger bang for my buck with Android devices.

I enjoy being able to add memory on my Note. My memory on my iPhone got gobbled up quickly with videos, music, and whatnot. I know some people whine about the faux leather cover on the Note 3 but I use an Otterbox so I rarely deal with it. I agree that the iPhones have a solid build but overall I'm glad I made the jump and I'm never going back:)

The Note 3 is a solid device. I had one for about a month. The ability to increase your storage is convenient, but it is a lot more convenient for me to use cloud storage instead. I like to be able to access my content on various devices and local micro SD card storage just doesn't cut it for me anymore. For the amount you would pay for a 64GB micro SD card, you could buy 100 GB or more cloud storage for a year.

I think cloud storage works for a lot of people. I've been using it a lot myself in the past year or two. However there are times when you don't have an Internet connection, say when you are on a plane or commuting and you need access to your storage. I have a 64GB micro SD card in my note 3 and I love it because I love to carry around a lot of media with me. However I have a 16 GB ipad and I'm able to mange that.

I've just ordered this wireless drive from Amazon mainly to use with my ipad mini.

I can't imagine using an iPhone again. I tried to go back earlier this year but it was too restrictive for me. However when it comes to Tablets the iPad is king.

I just upgraded from an S4 to a Note 3 and, man, do I love this phone. I have an iPad but it is primarily for use by my kids. I think iOS is good and I see its appeal but it just did not fit my usage. When I first got an iPad I used it everyday after about I realized that I was spending a considerable amount of time trying to get it to do what I needed it to do, the way I wanted to do it. Eventually, I decided that it was time to try something else and it took a look at Android. Android had matured by that point to something beautiful and flexible and useful (my first Android phone was the S3) and I have never looked back.

I regard to build quality, my thoughts are that the iPhone is a sealed phone, for all intents and purposes, one piece. It is my observation that the Android phone that are also sealed phones (i.e. HTC One, LG Flex, etc.), the build quality is comparable to the iPhone. However, there is a sacrifice that is made when you get a phone with a removable battery, it does not feel as solid in the hand. Personally, I am glad I have the choice.

As beautiful as the iPhone 5S and HTC One are. Give me Sammy's plastic removable back panel every time. Having the ability to have a spare battery is important to me. Something I found out the hard way when I briefly switched back to the iPhone earlier this year.

Battery life is an interesting thing to manage. I don't have a phone with a removable battery so my solution was just to get a 2nd phone. It's fun because my 2nd phone could be different or the same (right now, it's the same). For those that don't like my solution there's other work-arounds too.

via the phone

I'll list why I won't go back.
1. Swipe keyboard
2. Voice input that doesn't load before displaying what I'm saying
3. DLNA
4. WIRELESS A\C
5. s-pen
6. Always listening
7. NFC
8. Multiple apps open in the same window
9. Bigger screens
10. Memory card slot instead of $100s of dollars when you buy the phone for more memory.
11. Better cameras and camera software like more mega pixels
12. 4k video recording
13. I have an extra battery with charger so I never have to plug in my phone ever. when iPhone dies it must be plugged in
14. Any live wallpaper I want.
15. Group play
16. Air gestures
17. Smart scrolling
18. Increase touch sensitivity
19.widgets
20. Air command and air view
21. Im stopping now but for me there are many more.

The only thing I would like is better imessage compatibility. It works so well for apple users and so poorly for the rest. Also the icloud is nice how saves the entire state of your phone. Those two things alone aren't enough.

BTW candy crush and clash of clans keep me entertained.
