Anyone switching back to iPhone?

Lolol. I don't have a wife (just a girlfriend) but I did have to promise her to keep this Note 3 for a year.. I switched like 3 phones in the same year and she was getting mad :P.

I totally get it (which may be part of the problem :p )

Anyone else reconsidering since 4.4? I know I am.....

Why, exactly? Is 4.4 that troublesome? Be careful, if you've become accustomed to tinkering in android you may, may find iOS 7.1's lack of tinkerability quite dissapointing. Me, I love iOS 7.1, its still refreshing.

Well 9 times out of 10 when I wake my screen, the time is wrong and doesn't adjust quickly. That's if it displays at all sometimes. My list is downhill from there. This fundamental failure is making me either angry or horny. Yea it confuses me.

Then I go onto battery life, call drops, wifi drops and lastly signal blackouts. My Mrs has my old Day 1 iPhone 5 and it never misses a beat. Added to that I'm missing iTunes match and iCloud and I'm on the verge of cutting loose.

EDIT: Lack of "Do Not Disturb" functions also annoying. Sleep is being invaded by the flash blinking for emails or the screen waking to tell me the battery is charged, I'm nearly at the point of shutting down at night.

Well, perhaps if you tried a different ROM it may resolve some of that. I can completely understand why you may not want to be bothered but it is a possible solution.

I shouldn't have to change the stock software though, it should just work. I'm on unlocked sim-free, so I guess the software I upgraded to was very vanilla?

Well, vanilla android would have more of a tendency to, indeed, 'just work' than a skinned version. Have you tried clearing the cache, and if that didn't work, resetting the phone?

Just an fyi if you put your phone in blocking mode that should solve your "edit" point as you can block notifications, led indicators, calls etc. It can be set for specific times or just turned on/off manually. (You can also set allowed contacts incase you want to receive calls for example from someone whilst in blocking mode)

Just thought I'd throw that out there. I use it at night to block all of the above except my alarm and find it very useful. Sorry you're having so many problems.

Sarks.

Yea thanks for that. I was aware of that but it then puts that annoying non removable icon in the notification area. I like that to be clean at all times.

Thanks for the info though :)

Sorry I missed this reply. When you say reset, do you mean backup/wipe/restore? No I haven't done that, actually a bit scared of doing so as I don't trust the backup feature as much as I did with iCloud!

I downloaded tasker and set up a task to start blocking mode every night and stop in the mornings. Works great and no need for that icon in the notification area!

Tasker is really powerful and something you can't find on the iPhone. If you need your phone to do something and don't want to root, I recommend starting there.

Yes blocking mode for do not disturb. The clock and wake functions shouldn't be malfunctioning at all. I would return the phone if a reset doesn't resolve all the issues. The clock not working is a serious issue and it's not something all androids have an issue with.

Also iPhone does have do not disturb since before ios7.

Dropping calls Wi-Fi and signal is not normal operation for any phone and again either factory reset after backing up your contacts or turn in that crappy phone for a brand new one. I would not put up with that for one day.

After going back and forth between Android and iPhone I was convinced I was a die hard Apple fan. Mac book air, ipad, iphone, even itouch.
But then...
Steve Jobs kicked the bucket and Apple started going downhill.
And then Apple came up with Mavericks and IOS7.
And all my devices crapped out in spectacular fashion.
Trying to get anything done on any of them was like breathing through mud.
So I did all the factory resets and everything. Nothing helped.
Then all the notes I had taken for school vanished.
I went into panic mode and contacted Apple customer service.
And... they had the nerve to tell me I was doing something wrong, that it was my fault and there was nothing they could do.

Needless to say that was the last straw.
I went to best buy and immediately bought the Note 3.
Fired up Evernotes (which had become paralyzed on my Apple devices) and retrieved my notes.
Completed all my assignments and sent them in, completed my final test (20 pages long, requiring multiple choice, fully written paragraphs as well as graphics) and sent that in.
ALL FROM MY NOTE 3.

Seeing that level of performance I decided to wait for the Galaxy Note pro to be released in LTE version and got one.
Samsung was with me every step of the way to assist me with set up, troubleshooting and any questions I had.
I'm still screwing up royally as I am literally an infant when it comes to technology, but I'm learning, slowly but surely.

One thing I do know beyond the shadow of a doubt is I am never ever EVER going back to Apple.
My mac book air is gathering dust though I might need to fire it up briefly because techtard extraordinaire that I am, I managed to lock myself out of my tablet SIM card last night and disable it entirely lol.
So I have to get that replaced today but other than that my note pro and note 3 have been so efficient that I haven't felt the need for a laptop.

So what to do with a busted ipad? Well it's a great tray for my morning tea and it does a fine job if smashing bugs that
trespass into my house. My old iPhone was recycled and my mac book is um... somewhere under the couch I think. I keep my itouch because I use it for music when teaching since most places in my area are set up for Apple products.

But I'm sticking with Android and Samsung no doubt about it.

So now get the dust off the MB Air and sell it. Then use the money to buy some great accessories for your Note 3 and Pro. Glad to read about your experience.

Not a bad idea...

It's interesting as I am completely the other way, Evilguppy. My Note 3 is doing my head in but my iPad and iPhone are flawless. My HTC One however is also working flawlessly.

When the new iPhone 6 is released, I shall get one of those and sell the Note 3.

..... Added to that I'm missing iTunes match and iCloud and I'm on the verge of cutting loose.

I use Amazon Cloud MP3 player, it automatically added all of the CD's i'd bought from Amazon over the years and i imported the music from my iTunes folders there too. Plus you can use it on IOS or Android (i still use iPads). I use Dropbox as an iCloud alternative for photos and have them automatically upload (also works on both IOS/Android).

Ah, different strokes... One of us is a heretic, then. *evil grin* ;)
