Anyone thinking about returning this phone and going to the S8?

IMX260, just found it. So it definitely is a newer upgraded sensor although they share the same MP count and aperture.

The camera definitely is a huge issue, I dont think anyone can honestly deny that. I personally dont care because I very rarely ever take a low light picture. So far any images with motion have turned out fine for me because they tend to be in good lighting. Thats one area where the S8 is going to stand apart from the G6 because we know what that cameras capable of since they didnt really change it and are sticking with last years tech. Something people seem to be complaining about with the G6 oddly enough.
As already stated, the sensors for the S8/+ are brand new, not even listed on Sony's site anywhere last time I checked.

Even if they were from last year, that's still newer than the 2015 sensors LG is using. As a huge LG fan, that is extremely frustrating.

I returned mine today. I have a V20 and did not find it as enough of an improvement. Don't get me wrong I liked the G6 but I didn't love it. I had some of the low light and motion issues that others have mentioned but nothing major. The screen and form factor is great. My V20 is great and I'll stick with it for now.

I'll give the s8+ a shot and see how it performs.

once the fascination with the bezeless display on the G6 wears off after a couple days, its a very mediocre phone. The camera is stuck in 2015, the battery life is not great, the phone gets hot, google assistant takes forever to load up when toggled, fast charge is painfully slow, the lcd screen isn't anything to marvel at, the 32gb of storage is less than optimal and the SD821 while still pretty good, will show its age towards the middle of 2017. If you are like most people who keep their phone more than a year that's gonna suck. I sent my g6 back after 3 days and have an s8 on preorder.

I don't know what phone you were using but the fast charge isn't slow at all. Google assistant never freezes either. I don't have any issues with 32GB ROM because I use a 200GB microSD card.

I don't understand why you're spending so much time speaking out against the G6. You returned it.

No one is speaking out against it. Some of you guys take it like were insulting your 1st born. We are stating our experience. its nice that you got a good unit that isn't having these issues but they cant be ignored. and the 32gb with the preinstalled apps is was only about 20gb. You cant merge SD with the internal storage on the g6 so it can only be used for pictures and videos. Also never said google assistant freezes, I said it takes a few seconds to boot once initiated.

You can move some apps to the sd card.

So let me ask, and this is a genuine question that Im curious on. What exactly, for you, is the draw to the s8? We've had issues with Samsungs software for years being laggy and bloated with their garbage. The battery is smaller, their customer service is one of the worst. The only things I personally see on the S8 that I would like is the camera, the storage and Bluetooth 5.0 for dual audio and distance. The problem I have is theres too many other issues Im not willing to deal with to get those 3 things.

If you need more than 32GB for apps and games, this obviously isn't the phone for you. There are phones out there that have more than 32GB of internal storage.

The draw is more phone for the money. You are getting the latest processor, superior camera, better screen technology in OLED, more storage, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit LTE (huge in areas where supported), VR support, a more clean UI than past touchwiz. The phone also just looks way better. You may not like edge screens but its the future as everyone is jumping on board including apple. Im not worried about customer service. carrier warranties and personal insurance like I put on my devices makes it so I never have to deal with manufacturer when I have an issue.

Well thats the beauty I guess in Android is choice. Some of you're top items are why I dont want the S8 lol. I hate Amoled, Hate the TouchWiz and even using a 3rd party launcher doesnt remove the lag that comes with it. VR about made me puke (but it was cool for a second). I also am not a fan of Gorilla Glass 5 being on the entire phone. It scratches entirely to easy and seeing as how nobody can make a screen protector that functions and looks half way decent for an edge screen, you're almost accepting that its going to get ruined over time. That being said though, these are things I will deal with come August/September when the Note 8 releases. The usability I get with that stupid s-pen for my business cant be beat. I have a love hate with Samsung. I hate their phones but love the note line. Im thinking the edge screens will last another 4 years and then the fad will be gone. They serve literally zero purpose and more and more people are getting sick of them.

I agree. I like the g6...its not perfect ...but I dislike how tall and skinny the s8 and plus are. With no side bezel....make it look worse. gonna use G6 till Note 8 comes out...

Cool. No one is stopping you from getting the S8/S8+. If you prefer those phones to the G6, great. I prefer the G6 and I will enjoy it immensely.

Is it okay to enjoy both? Because all I see on both forums is back and forth bashing of the competition.

If there is not one good thing people can say about another OEM, their opinion is useless because they cant bring themselves to be even a little bit objective.

You can find my posts where I say I do love Samsung but the S8 just didn't do it for me :P. I still don't think it'll be a bad phone at all and I know it will sell millions.

I would of stuck with the G6 is it had BT 5.0 and capable of 1 GIG LTE. I keep a phone for a good bit of time so I might as well get something that has newer tech/

I don't see the point in phone bashing. We all have different opinions. We all also have different needs in a device. I can understand if a person isn't interested. That's fine. But to consistently bash others for liking something is, IMO, rather pointless. I don't care for the S8s because of many factors. Others don't care about the G6 because of different factors. The great thing about Android is that there's choices out there.

Well said.

Here Here!

Both are good phones no doubt..
It just what rocks your boat...
As I said last year s7 edge impressed me than g5 and this year G6 impressed me not S8. It's that simple
And with strong metal frame of G6 gives good grip and sturdiness.. G6 I think I can use naked but can't even dream of using s8 naked...

I could like this a million times if I could.

At the end of the day, whatever phone we choose is based on our personal preference. Arguing and bashing over one's choice of phone gets us nowhere.

I've always said to buy and enjoy what you like best, and I will never stray away from that.
