Anyone with LG G4 with serial 505 ?

Well l wasn't really believing the 505 thing, but it happened to my AT&T H810 this yesterday. My replacement comes tomorrow. It just locked up and that was all she wrote.

Mine died last night while it was minding its own business in my pocket. How did you get them to send you a phone by tomorrow? Mine is supposed to ship from Ft. Worth today and should arrive in two days. ATT said there was no way they could do overnight.

The heat thing is certainly a possibility. I've seen this sort of thing happen before where the solder isn't set right and the heat breaks it down. (Yeah, thanks Nvidia for essentially bricking a $3000 gaming laptop. :banghead: ) That would explain why LG seems to have been so aggressive with thermal throttling. I'm guessing that's actually more coincidence than anything and I'm just being conspiracy theorist. If they knew enough to throttle so much, they could have fixed the problem.

I live in the Dallas area, but I was in Shreveport, LA when it died (yesterday). They had a service repair center that the AT&T retail store sent me to. They said I could expedite for $14.95. I was hoping that by expediting, I would get it today, but I guess that was just wishful thinking. In the end I paid $14.95 for them the FEDEX the package across town. I am not sure I gained anything.

I placed the order at 11:30AM yesterday (Eastern Time) and it wasn't picked up until 8PM last night in Ft. Worth. I should be receiving by tomorrow.

I got a 505 H811 on T-Mobile purchased in July. No major issues yet. I do have a weird thing where my phone will become unresponsive and reboot on its own after I swap batteries. Happens within 15 minutes of booting up and then not again unless the battery is swapped out again. Probably happens 1 in every 6 times I swap out the battery. Have yet to hear of a single other person having such an issue.

Beware my replacement was a "like new" G4 with a 505 SN.

My 505 is still going strong, ATT H810.
Purchased in July, 2015.
Upgraded to MM, no reset.
SD card and second battery are all good.

My 505 purchased from Amazon in Sept '15 is also going strong. No issues at all. Upgraded to Marshmallow over WiFi yesterday without a hitch.

It has nothing to do with the upgrade. It's a hardware issue. Mine died in my pocket a few days after the update.. Phone was minding its own business until I went to look at it.

True, it is a hardware issue.
However, during the MM upgrade the phone got warmer than it ever has before. I placed it on a bag of frozen vegetables until it was finished.

My upgrade was 950 Mb. I would expect any phone installing or downloading an almost 1 Gb file to get hot.

Those of you who are getting back 505s and the like probably shouldn't have to worry. Since LG knows what the problem is now they should be fixed.

They are hoping it would last until the warranty is over and they wouldn't have to worry about it.

I'm always very aware of the difference between "should be" and "is."

It isn't in my rights to make a promise. LG had better back you guys up if there is an issue though.
