Anyone with LG G4 with serial 505 ?

just take that Note 2 along with you on your route. Simple enough to just swap the sim and power up

Thanks Jim! I hadn't thought of that.

I just tried it, before starting the MM update. The Note 2 works great. I notice that the sim card is difficult to get out of the G4, unlike the click-type action of the Note. But it works, that's what matters. Thanks again.

Now on to updating the G4...

Just happened to my g4, sent to lg service centre, retify as motherboard issue, quite many of user have same issue. According to service staff, this motherboard issue has been informed by HQ in Korea, my one also come with s/n 505. Everything you saved inside phone will be gone, they can't do recovery for you also.

My 505 is still going strong, ATT H810.
Purchased in July, 2015.
Upgraded to MM, no reset.
SD card and second battery are all good.

My 505 purchased from Amazon in Sept '15 is also going strong. No issues at all. Upgraded to Marshmallow over WiFi yesterday without a hitch.

That's the problem with this phone, it will happen out of the blue. My phone was in perfect condition just you guys then BAM! Game Over. Luckily I heard about this problem from this forum last month and backed up all my pictures.

Looks like I fell victim to the bootloop. I'm gonna be taking this as an opportunity to switch back to AT&T and try out Samsung S7. It's the last phone brand I have yet to try!

There's a discussion on the S7 forum - an S7 Edge spontaneously cracking when charging overnight (just a single report). And V10's appear to be fragile - the glass breaks too easily (according to some). No phone is perfect. That reminds me...time to back up my 505 :-!

mine is a 505 and it died yesterday, i just sent it back - its covered under the 2 year warranty but it will be interesting to see if they fix or replace.

ps i lost month and a half worth of photos - for some reason my pics were not being uploaded to my back up server :/

My G4 just died yesterday with the bootloop issue. I was able to put it in the freezer and get a few things off as well as reset it back to defaults. But once it warms back to room temp, it bootloops again. Mine has a 505 serial number as well.

Has anyone had a luck returning it to Best Buy for a replacement? Or should i just go to LG direct? The phone is just less than a year old.

We have Geek Squad protection and I tried to take it there. They claim they've never heard of the issue and LG has not communicated with them to do warranty replacement for the phone. 😢

I sent mine back to LG and it took almost 2 weeks but got it back with a replaced motherboard. I am just about to call them for my wife's phone as it started this earlier this week.

I'm not usually lawsuit minded, but if someone starts a class action I'll certainly join it!

Thanks for the input! I ended up trying Best Buy to see what they had to say. They are actually going to replace it free, although I'm guessing it's because it's still within the 1 year of warranty (purchased 6/15). The only downside is that they didn't have any of the blue models available, so I had to settle for a gray/silver one. LOL. I don't think I'll be buying another LG when it's time for something new.

It must all depend on who you talk to. I called twice and went to two stores. All 4 said they would get a replacement device for me for $149.

Isn't it still under the manufacturer's original warranty like GTIXPRESS? If it is, how can they charge you a deductible? Maybe try your carrier?

Because unless LG authorizes them to process warranty claims they will not. Even if they do, they will most likely give you a refurbished phone, or another with the issue just waiting to happen again.

I have a 505 which just froze then shut down, At first the phone was unresponsive but the next morning I could power it on but not boot it. It would just hang at the powered by android screen and turn off. I did all sorts of tests with the power buttons and at one point was able to keep the powered by screen on. In the end I gave up and shipped it off for warranty.

It came back 2 weeks later (third party warranty companies blow) and indeed they replaced the mainboard.

I didn't save my pics to a sd card and relied on google pics, however when i checked I was missing about 2 months worth of photos. I have now invested in a 128gb sd card and will save all pics to this.

IF YOU HAVE A 505 BACK UP YOUR STUFF NOW!

Anyone else had any luck getting a new replacement from Best Buy? I also have a Verizon VS986 505 that went into bootloop 3 days ago and was thinking that even if I get a new device I might run into the same issue down the line. Hoping for favorable results with the warranty service.

Those of you who are getting back 505s and the like probably shouldn't have to worry. Since LG knows what the problem is now they should be fixed.

I definitely wouldn't assume as much from a corporation like LG.

For the record, now I'm hearing from other parts in this forum that newer models are doing it too...in one instance it was a 510. Son of a butt. When will this end?

Bought my phone in July of last year, H815 international model with 505 serial number.
If it ever bootloops it'll be the last time I'll buy a device from LG.

hi my lg g4 is 509. two weeks ago i sent my phone to the Lg assistence because it is under warranty and i just collected it today but the problem were excatly the same bootloop ( it gets very hot and restart over and over ) well i am very disappointed of lg and its assistence but they don't test the phone before sending back to the customer ? they told me that they changed the motherboard but i think it is an hardware problem.
Well can i send it back to the assistance and why they try to repair it i think they should change it completely.
Please give me any feedback as i am quite disappointed and desperate.
