Apple announcement

The Apple Watch Ultra was my favorite part of the presentation. If Samsung or Google thought they were catching up in the Watches... Apple just set the bar higher.

My S22U is my primary but my Xr is my running/outdoor phone and pretty much stays in my daily backpack with me... I might just get the Apple Watch Ultra... S22 ULTRA paired with an Apple Watch ULTRA LOL.

In the past I wouldn't think of using an Apple Watch as my running watch and always used a Garmin but with the specs and capabilities, I don't see an issue now. My Co-worker watching the presentation with me is a diver and his primary is an iPhone but he's ready to pre-order the Ultra first day saying it sounds like it will be a fine dive computer.

iPhone presentation was ok. I've been using iOS 16 beta so been enjoying some of the new features like the AOD/lock screen. Good use of the revised notch/pill. Stuff like keeping sports scores and using it to expand other apps like music, etc.

2000 nit screen!! I believe it surpasses our S22U screen capabilities!

Satellite emergency calling, etc... 20 zoom camera that will keep me on my S22U and possibly S23U but they did have improvement that no doubt picture/video quality will be again bumped up a notch. Little things but they add up keeping the iPhone a monster in it's class.

Very interesting that you claim to be using the aod which is exclusively limited to the 14 pro and pro Max. Did you get an early review unit?

No way I'm getting one or can afford one but did they announce the price of the Apple Watch Ultra? I wonder if they called it Ultra to compete with Samsung? They could have easily called it Apple Watch Pro instead of Ultra. Up to this point anything on the high end of things Apple called it Pro and now...it's Ultra.. 🤔

It's 800 and I feel like Apple did that to be petty with Samsung since Samsung named their watch pro. Crazy how we don't have all these phones called with either a plus, ultra or pro behind it lol.

Agree with everything you said. E-sim doesn't bother me as of now since this won't be my daily driver. I know I will probably get bored with iOS rather quickly lol (maybe not we'll see). I love most things about my galaxy's and feel it's the best all around ecosystem for me, but at the end of the day I'm a techie so I'm always playing around with multiple devices. Also we're in an age where trade-in values are plentiful when you have current or previous generation phones. At most I'm out a couple hundred which I could easily blow on non tangible things.
I like to see how well they implemented AOD

I am a techie as well, but strangely reached a point I don't have anything left to trade. I will buy the new Pixel when it comes out and that will give me a backup. Now I am thinking, is this S22U the only phone I have at the moment? I can tell you if I was getting an iPhone it would have to be the TOTL and I have no problem laying out the $1100 , but not sure I want to do that for an iPhone
For me im trading in my 13 pro so im getting the 14 pro max for half the price thats why im in on this

The apple watch plus looks really good maybe down the road ill get one

Yeah that too. I'm really interested to see how good it looks being a full color display. Will be perfect to leave on AOD since I won't have a watch connected to that phone.
They also mentioned very low battery drain stays on 1 htz or something , we see .

I bet that 2000 nits is not achievable when actually tested. And the battery life with AOD is going to not be good. Will wait for people to actually test it. :)

I think the AOD will perform ok with battery. I mean they've had like 6 years to perfect it lol. Also it will not be illuminated like the screen regularly does so it should keep down on battery usage.

Exactly they had time to figure AOD

I guarantee this phone's going to have solid battery life lol I really do think Apple has gotten a lot better with the recent phones and battery and I don't expect the AOD to bother it too much..

Yeah I went ahead and pre-ordered the 14 pro max in black. Verizon is giving me $800 for my XS Max so how could I not lol

I swore off iphones for a good long time and my S22 Ultra is definitely my main phone but like others have said, I'm a tech lover plain and simple. I look forward to comparing the two against each other 😎

my lock screen, running iOS 16 beta on my iPhone XR. I may be limited from doing any more than that? But unless I’m mistaken it for something else isn’t as always on display?

by the way, I really like iOS is implementation of the weather app widget. Really cool how it tells you if it’s raining how long have plans to rain in your area. Wish I can get that on my Samsung lock screen with the default weather app?

With the trade-In promos what do you have to lose other than a few hundred dollars lol. No but serious it's smart to upgrade your old devices if it makes sense because the phone you upgrade to will have a higher value should you decide to trade it in or sell it within the next 2 to 3 years.

OMG. Should stay out of this thread lol. Trade in and grab myself iPhone 14 Pro Max purple for my testing.

For some reason I keep my iPhone longer than Android.

Apple makes great devices but from year to year they are almost the same no major changes no customization at all and the only thing I see is a new chip every year.

It's not that Samsung is making major changes from year to year as well. It's just the state of smartphones in general. We won't see big jumps from year to year.
