Apple announcement

It's not that Samsung is making major changes from year to year as well. It's just the state of smartphones in general. We won't see big jumps from year to year.
I think they mean in terms of variety. You have the S series for standard phones, then you have the z flip and the z fold if you want something less traditional. Let's face it an iPhone is still an iPhone. Luckily now you have different sizes to please different people (although I'd like to see a device bigger than the pro smaller than the max pro). The ui is the same on all iPhones released together. That is until now the dynamic island which will give a different level of experience over the traditional feel that iOS has given over the years. You know not really a new ui but a change that people will appreciate and have to have on their next iPhone.

Apple makes great devices but from year to year they are almost the same no major changes no customization at all and the only thing I see is a new chip every year.
Your not lying about the chip. Most can't tell you what improvements it brings other than being faster over last years model lol. Apple realized that they don't have to put the newest processor in their lower grade variants and are about to run with it.

Well the pro and pro max get the new chip
Apple left the 14 and 14 plus with last year chip., They said they made last chip so good that they have to continue it 2 more years before the competition catches up

OMG. Should stay out of this thread lol. Trade in and grab myself iPhone 14 Pro Max purple for my testing.

For some reason I keep my iPhone longer than Android.

Just seeing others buying new phones is enough of a nudge for me lol

The phone manufacturers have to change something from year to year to keep people buying yearly. You're right that overall there's not as much to change anymore... the camera's are all good, the chips are all fast enough, most every conceivable feature has been thought of... the only new territory for now is the foldables. And there still seems to be some hesitancy around those.

Without the trade in deals, I don't think the majority of people would be willing to upgrade yearly just for a color or cosmetic change... so they pretty much have to put faster processors in the phones every year, even though it's overkill, just to give us one more semi-valid reason to upgrade. But it does keep technology moving forward ;)

I watched a news story today that was talking about the satellite connectivity the new iPhones are going to have, and it's going to be a subscription service. I don't think they mentioned prices, but I guess you'll have the ability to pay for a cell phone and sat phone all in one. The sat phone will only work when you have zero cell signal, and it will be limited to texts and calls only from what I understood, so you'll mostly be paying for a safety feature.

Not quite what I was expecting, but interesting nonetheless.

I believe first 2 years is Free for emergency satellite then a charge

Correct first to years are free. No price has been announced and Android will support satellite connectivity as well in Android 14. Also remember T-mobile is suppose to offer satellite support in the next few years as well. Sometimes it seems like all this carriers and manufactures are in bed with each other discussing things and laughing at us because we're not in on the joke

It changes depending on the notification or action being display so it can be big or small. The only thing that's constant and can't be changed obviously is the cutouts for the camera sensors. That's why they implemented the dynamic island as a way to distract from the pill cut out always seeming like an eye sore which to me is much more tolerable than the none functional notch.

Oh, okay. Gotcha. At least it always has a function and said function can be adjusted in size. Personally, notched always cease to exist for me after a while -- but then again, I've always had hole-punch notches.
