Apple Headphones with Galaxy S4?

While waiting for my Galaxy S4 to come in from Verizon, (I'm switching from the iPhone 5 and Apple after 3 iPhones), I was wondering if the apple headphones will work with the Galaxy S4. Specifically the volume controls and next track, etc. Unlike a lot of people I really like the old and new apple headphones. I don't like the ones that come with the GS4, (Which I saw in many unboxing videos i've watched).

Thanks!

Will the headphones work in something other than an apple product? You wouldn't happen to have your PC that you could plug them in to? An older phone, say a flip phone or something? If they work in that, they should work in the Android.

Just for my galaxy s4, the Apple headphones do work partially. Volume rocker does not work but the play/pause does work. Also there are apps that you can get to help control the rest.

should all else work. i got the mdr-zx300ip from best buy. sound good, but sometimes they just stop playing. last time they stopped i hit pwr to turn screen on just got a 100% battery icon. guess phone had just reached 100%. all i had done after music stopped was to rotate pin to see if connection issue. had to reboot phone to get screen back.

Just bought a pair of Apple EarPods to use with my GS4(I hate the default Samsung ear piece because they make my ear feel uncomfortable), the Volume control don't work but the Play/Pause/Answer Phone Call button works. That's good enough for me.

Hi,

Does anyone have tried to make a phone call actually with the Apple EarPods plugged into a Samsung Galaxy S4?
A mention about wether the microphone actually works or not would be helpful...

Could anyone having both pieces of device have a try about this?
I would be very thankful!

Button won't work on your Android. But you should try the galaxy headphones they not that bad the GS4 are great.

I don't like the Galaxy Headphones or any intra-auricular headsets.
I am fine with Apple's headsets for years now. Although I am still concerned about the microphone. Has anyone tried this already?

I don't own any so I can't test, but I do know it was an issue with the S3...

The problem is that the Apple headphones have a slightly altered jack, so the microphone doesn't always work as expected. I certainly would not assume they work without testing or getting confirmation first.

You are right. Why would anyone expect standards to be adopted that allow things like the internet to go world wide. Why would anyone require that the companies that make the products they buy adhere to standards? I think it's great that every time I decide to switch vendors I have to replace darn near everything.

Yeah the volume control buttons don't work or track skipping. I've resigned myself to using the Samsung ones as I've bought 2 third party ones (skull Candy, Sony,) which don't work at all. I'm not buying anymore.

Thanks for your feedback.
Have you tried out the microphone during a call or a record for example?

I've kept to my new Apple earpods as well after selling my iPhone 5 for the GS4. The volume up and down work, so does pause and play. Haven't managed to get the others working sadly:\ you'll probably find an application or tweak that'll make it work, though.

How did you get the volume to work? It doesn't work with my S4.

Incidentally. I've just tried them again and the pause works but not the volume. Anyhow I've promised to give them to my cousin with my ipod touch so I won't keep them.

Lol to be fair the headphones that came with the s4 don't fully work with my ipad/ipod touch. Apple are sneaky so Samsung are sneaky back.

That's because, as mentioned earlier, Apple wires their headphones a bit differently. It has nothing to do with Samsung being sneaky. Their headphones will work with any non-iphone but the Apple headphones will only fully work with Apple products.

So, if we're being fair, Apple IS the one being sneaky...not Samsung.
