Apple is at it again. WTF

Calling someone an idiot gained you what? He probably said what many are thinking anyway.

All these lawsuits may be about money yet at the end of the day, it's the customers that are hurting....not big business.
So many people here are hoping a man 'rots in hell' just because the company he ran, before dying a nasty death, MIGHT temporarily block the sale of a new cellphone? Thats an acceptable thing to say, but calling someone an idiot is absolutely off limits?

Annnyway, wasn't trying to debate patent laws, or their morality. Fact is, the laws are there, and every company in business will use them to protect their intellectual property AND profits. Just out of curiosity, how many times has Apple won/lost patent cases?

Very well put. I'm glad there are still rational people on the forums.

Apple may seek to stop U.S. launch of Galaxy phone | Reuters

"However, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said she has many other cases. If Apple decides to seek a restraining order, it would likely delay a July trial date over different Samsung phones, as well as the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

"I cannot be an Apple v. Samsung judge," Koh said."

So that bodes well for those of us waiting for the S3 I would think.

Wow, really? No offense, but you are an idiot.

As far as this whole issue goes, yeah the patent wars are getting tiresome. Never owned an iphone, and I am Android for life, but think about it for a minute. Apple revolutionized the cellphone industry with the iphone, and everyone else has been struggling to catch up ever since. Has anyone ever considered that maybe the reason Apple is dragging all these companies to court is because maybe they are guilty?
Hell, the entire Android system can be attributed to Apple, ironically enough. Don't know what I'm talking about? Do a little research on how Android got started.

And do a little research on one of the Patents they are claiming... Unified Search. Which was first introduced by the Palm Pre. So it's not like it was their idea to begin with...

Apple's issue is that they take the ideas of others and then 'innovate' them... But if any company does the same thing to one of their ideas, it's copying.

YAY! Go Apple! Lets stop technology from growing all because they are running out of ideas!

God for bid someone gave Apple a run for there money!

But in the real world Apple...This is getting old. VERY VERY OLD! I hate their company. Only they would ruin device's release! They did it to the HOX already...I know Sammy will still ship but thats not the point.

Regardless of the route this goes (hopefully not delaying the launch) this just further pushes Apple into fire. Time and time again its proven even bad press is still good press in the end. Apple makes these claims, people read about it and take interest in the device of question. Some consumers maybe even many all sudden take more interest to the point of buying the device where as before they maybe wouldn't have considered it. My opinion is people hear this and think to themselves if Apple is complaining about it then it has to be good or something along those lines.

So keep it up Apple, keep digging yourself further into a hole and further helping hype and promote Android devices with your complaints, patent claims and just general hatred for Android.. We hear ya and we still continue to pre order and purchase our Android devices despite what your shoveling this time around.

I just had to make my comment already, I'm just another one of the many tired consumers watching another round of Apple showing how much of a rotten Apple they really are. ;)

Seeing all these Apple lawsuits used to be comical to me. Now it's just getting sad.

Instead of fighting back with a new device, something that's actually innovating, they want to stop other manufacturers from shipping their devices. The iPhone used to be something special when it first came out. I never understood when people got all excited when a "new" iPhone came out cause it pretty much looked the same as the previous model.

Another thing that always bothered me was that everyone says how Apple is so innovative. The first iPhone came out in 2007 but didn't get MMS until 2009 when the 3GS launched.

All this proves is that Apple is scared that Samsung is coming out with a better device.

There is some truth to this but everyone forgets that Apple completely ripped off Palm to develop the iPhone. It's a good thing for Apple that Palm never had enough money to defend their intellectual property.

Thank God other companies don't behave like Apple or there would only be one brand of everything!

you all realize that samsung isnt dumb. . . they probably could see this happening and had lawyers over their shoulders during development, apple just wants to

a. be a media whore
b. take away from articles on why the phone is amazing
c. cry because this phone might put them even further behind in handsets sold

we will see this phone on june 21st, guaranteed.

I don't care if Apple sues people stealing software, but all of these patents that Apple is suing over are things they didn't even invent. Data tapping? Reminds me of Windows 97.

Exactly, Apple didn't really invent any of the things it has patents on. You can't patent "slide to unlock" or data tapping or any of the other patents Apple holds in association to the iPhone. Apple didn't invent the smartphone and all of these lawsuits will come back to haunt Apple. Eventually it will force review of Apple's patents that could end up being invalidated due to the nature of the flawed and broken patent system that the US has in place. The patent system basically allows for anyone to claim something as theirs and it needs to be fixed. The US government is already starting to get sick of Apple's crap, I mean the FTC made a request to the ITC to no longer grant exclusion orders on products coming into the US and hell the courts threw out the entire Apple vs. Motorola case.
The only thing Apple is doing here is diging itself its own grave.

I agree because $2.2 million to Apple is just pocket change. I do think in due time they will face more fines and reprocussions from these patent wars

Agreed I think over time the Apple strategy will backfire on them.I know avid Apple people who are disgusted at their tactics. The 2.2 million fine was laughable they probably paid their legal team to defend it more than that. But it is a victory and while the house of cards is not falling (yet) it is definitely starting to sway some.

That was Steve Jobs' objective. A good objective for any major company, but not realistic. Apple's unofficial mantra was "Our way or the highway"...closed market. Android is open, allowing for literally millions to develop apps, etc., to improve on the base and often incorporating these developments into the OS. Apple is no longer #1 and they don't like it. I don't blame them for seeking to protect what they have. But their persistence is now bordering on the ridiculous. In fact, their lawsuits are close to being classified as "nuisance". But they could be a blessing in disguise, since manufacturers are developing workarounds. They're innovating. Something Apple used to be very good at. Then, too, they were also very good at stealing from others and claiming it as their own.
