Apple is at it again. WTF

Separate divisions & Samsung gets paid wayyyy too much to be able to just drop them. They'd probably take a huge hit in their business.

At some point, the decision may be influenced by the cost of one over the other...

Which costs more?
1) dropping apple as a vendor
2) spending on litigation law suit after law suit


though, they may not be mutually exclusive...so for now...Samsung can offset their costs of litigation by keeping Apple as a customer.


As for dropping Apple, Samsung can't be sued for it... They only provide parts when Apple provides money...If Samsung decides to stop supplying Apple...all they can do...is not pay.

As for the other points...Apple may be able to get other suppliers...but the quality will be compromised...this already happened when they were trying to use Sharp to make their screens...they ended up going back to Samsung and LG
But, still, Apple would find what they need else-ware if they had to.
While Apple brings a bunch of business to Samsung, I doubt its in the billions...I'm sure Samsung would be fine without them.

Well that's fine, but it still won't mean Apple will get to use any of Samsung's patents for free. Or that Samsung is being abusive by demanding payment for use of their patents, even if they are SE. If Apple uses any of them, Samsung will make money on every i device sold.

So essentially, besides the shell (outside skin) of the phones, the insides of both the iphone and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are more or less the same except.......

Samsung charges $199.99 to $249.99 for their devices while....
Apple charges $499.99 to $599.99 for theirs.

......I guess you pay more for a nice looking shell!

My sister wanted to buy my father the iphone 4s when it first came out and we were going to chip in for it. I had asked her how much they cost was told that the 16 gb version $499 at the 32 gb was $599. I remember laughing at her, lol!! At least thats what I remember, lol.....it was a ridiculous price for a newly released phone WITH new contract!

Apple pays up front to secure parts. That's a well known fact. And even if they didn't, their are multi-billion dollar contracts that Samsung has to honor or face legal ramifications. They can't just choose not to give apple the parts they are contracted for.

Also, you need to do some searching for how much apple actually pays Samsung every year. Its in the tens of billions of dollars.

You really need to learn how to read. If Samsung sues apple over SEPs, they will find themselves in a great deal of trouble. Patents for LTE are bundled, a la H.264, and there is no way for samsung (if they even hold any LTE patents that are a part of the standard) to sue without violating antitrust law.

Not at all. The iPhone 4s costs exactly the same as the 16gb galaxy S3. The next iPhone with LTE will as well.

When it comes to mobile, apples pricing is fair.

Not really Samsung manufactures apple designed chips they use Samsung because of there manufacturing expertise comparing the insides to a apple deigned phone and the s3 are nothing alike
