Nah, I think we're having a nice back and forth.

Open source man. Simple. That is innovation.
Go iWallet! way to patent those ideas Apple! Hate that prick.

Open Source is innovation? We're going to have to agree to disagree on that point.

As for iWallet... did they really patent it? *sigh* Pathetic, really. I really wish the system would get fixed.

You should read the link I posted. They have clearly innovated in the past few years.

I did, and it's nice to know that they are able to make a better UI because of Apple. No, I am not saying they're stealing... so let's nip that in the bud. The patents forced Google to re-think everything they were doing, I think. And now the UI is just plain amazing, from the App Tray to the settings and so forth.

I guess I just think of innovation as BIG things. Google innovated search, for example. Apple innovated when they made OS X. Xerox innovated the GUI. The list could go on and on.

Look at the facts. Apple started it, no reason to twist what "could be," because Google is about innovation and open source. I doubt they would ever care to pick on the poor kid holding his sign on the street in CA.

HEAVY lol!

Google may be about open source, but do you really believe their manufacturers are? Before you answer that, think about the term "locked bootloader".

Ah, so we're not necessarily talking about objective innovation--regardless of how small or large--but subjective views on what would constitute innovation? :p

To me, the soft keys, Google Now, Jelly Bean as a whole--complete innovation IMO.

That is hilarious...who new comedy central has nothing on this thread, ha ha.

I looked up and thought I was on iPhone forums....nope, still here...O:-)

Is there really an objective way to look at innovation?

"Innovation is the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments, and society."

Okay, you have me with Google Now. That is pretty innovative.

Perhaps not--but so long as we understand it's subjective, unqualified generalizations should be avoided on all sides of the debate (including mine).

You can not group ALL devices like that. That is the beauty of it. Sure, some are locked and with proprietary skins, but the NEXUS? That is what I refer too. Apple will never catch Google slipping up. They want nothing to do with copying a boring ssa interface that is so old mold grows on it. Gawd I hate that OS.

One thing folks must differentiate is between Google/Android and Android-based products. There's a clear distinction and lumping them all together really complicates the matter.

You're right.

Question: If you love Nexus, why do you have an S3?

Yes they did

I had several Nexus devices....I kept getting ones that didn't work right. I hate to say it, but it is truth. Besides, my s3 is so unlocked it is not even funny:p

True, but sometimes it gets hard to remember that most Android devices are really just android-based. It'd be so much easier if every company didn't make their own skin.

That doesn't tell me anything about the notification bar patent.

If you care to do some research it's out there. The patent is pending from the last info I have seen but that doesn't shield you from a lawsuit..... Which the link I posted indicates apple will need too address.

I corrected it for accuracy ;):D

Guess I got lucky with my one Nexus phone. Bought it straight from Google, though, think that made the difference?

As for iWallet... I really don't know what to say about that. It saddens me.

On a slightly related note, I'm starting to think I shouldn't buy any Android device that doesn't have Nexus attached to it. Aside from the upgrade path, it just feels like the device works better with their OS for some reason.

Is it placebo?

Wish I did, I love that phone.
That is classic Apple, always pitching for a handout.
