Are the Pixel speakers likely to be louder than the speakers
on the Nexus 6P or HTC M8/M9?

I've seen many videos of people playing with the Pixel at the
Google event. Nobody seemed to have commented on the
loudness(or lack of) of the speakers.

Also... do the Pixel and Pixel Plus use identical speakers?

Thanks!

I love the front facing speakers on my m8, so I am hoping the speakers on the pixel work well.

The question should be "does it actually have dual firing speakers in the first place"? Imo, I think it has a down firing single speaker..

It has only a single bottom firing speaker. This is what the German Google Store page says.

Don't expect much.

a website that competes with Android Central has a video
showing the Note 7 has louder speaker than the Pixel...
and I happen to think my Note 7 speaker sounds horribly
low and muffled, so I guess there's my answer. :(

Isn't some of the muffled sound of the note 7 from the water proofing design?

A single down-firing speaker is plenty. My Note 5 is more than loud enough and it only has one speaker in that same location.

After experiencing dual speakers phones you will not want to go back to single speaker setups. Even the iPhone has dual speakers now. This is a major disadvantage of the Pixel phone.

The Note 7 speaker is fine for calls and YouTube videos that aren't music.

I would not call it great nor would I say it's crap.

I would prefer a dual speaker arrangement though.

But it's also not a deal breaker for me. In fact, it's pretty low on my list of wants in a phone.

Lol. And, how many people use their phone as a phone?

I can say with reasonable degree of accuracy that 98.5% of my "phone" use has nothing to do with making or receiving telephone calls.

I actually carry a Samsung Convoy 4 flip phone(yes, dumbphone) for making actual voice calls... next to my Note 7 or S7 edge. The voice quality is much better than any smartphone. :)

True, but I also don't use it as a boombox. A single speaker is perfectly sufficient for Youtube videos, gaming, calls/notifications/alarms, which is what most people would need the speakers for.

I sure do miss 1980... :(

I had a boombox similar to this one in my office....and yes, that's a small TV in the center! :)

saw this new bluetooth "boombox" and it sure looks more up-to-date. :)
