Are they retrofitting Thunderbolts as we speak?

I think it'll get released, especially after Sprint made such a big deal over it, but I agree with everything here. It's the nature of the beast sometimes, especially when it comes to Android that we have some pretty lousy phones floating around out there. HTC's work is solid most of the time, so I have a good feeling about the Tbolt.

Nooooooooooooooooo............(On the Echo) T-Bolt seems good...I agree with BMX that it's the preview of the Evo2 for all intents and purposes.

Some of you may remember that Motorola did this with the original Q after there were widespread battery life complaints. They started throwing in an extended battery & battery door with every device.

Yeah, and I believe they also did it with one of those casio boulder phones.

I dont mind buying an extended battery but not if it is needed to make it through the day with normal use. My X would last the day with the stock battery with normal use but not with heavy use so I bought the ext. battery. That is what I expect of any phone I buy but if the TB needs the ext battery to make it through the day then I will be selecting another phone

**a normal day for me would be 12-18 hours**

In a normal day, my phone wouldn't be used for 8-10 hours while I'm working. So, for me, leaving it plugged in is natural.

I have a hard time believing they'd do a spec change prior to launch that wouldn't be implemented for the first phones. It would make sense if they delayed launch to have more manufactured while sending the others back to HTC for a retrofit.

I didn't see if anyone mentioned it here, but what about the possibility of the phone releasing at 2.3 or 2.4?

Although anything's possible, I doubt that will happen. If anything, it might see a relatively fast update to 2.3 after it's released OTA. But I doubt the delay is to throw 2.3/2.4 on it.

I agree, but if that's the case then a spec change would likely mean they'd have to send back the current stock of Bolt's and have HTC roll off more from the assembly line.

the guy @ AndroidForums said "Be prepared for the launch to be next week .. not this week. Also, there will possibly be a surprise spec (or two). "
or two... thats a clue. 2 cores.

It's not as simple as scotch taping another processor core onto it...

And of all the rumored issues, processor speed is not one of them.

there goes my chance at getting serial number 000001... :(

My vote on the "spec change" is a slightly bigger battery around 1600 mAh with the same form factor, bundled with an OTA firmware update that prompts you to download it right out of the box

It can't be anything related to the phone's board itself (memory, RAM, processor) since it takes engineers months to design those boards and months more to test and refine them (after all, we saw prototypes of this phone back in August and it is JUST NOW about to be released - that's how long it takes). Now way in Hades they could pull that off in a week and a half. Those of you hoping the spec change is dual core might as well wish for a brand new Ferrari while you're at it since you're not gonna get one of those either.

Same thing with Gingerbread too. It takes HTC 6 months to get Sense integrated into it. They aren't just gonna throw it together in a week and release Gingerbread. This phone will still come with Froyo preloaded

LOL

I would bet anything that it's not happening.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. People were questioning this all over the place at CES, no way it would be sneaking out and they wouldn't be pushing it hard in marketing

Much less what dual core would they use? It would require an entire board change, revision, testing, etc. That would be nuts to complete in a few weeks or months.

If all of this is true, i hope they ae paying all of the workers who did it a good pay.

QFT! Beside, I've read somewhere that HTC uses Qualcomm chip only, and their dual core chip design aren't ready yet.

Yea, I believe the Qualcomm Scorpion chip (dual-core version of original Snapdragon, basically) isn't available till summer or later.

We shall see when it comes out...won't we. It better be a battery fix or a skype fix because if it is not, (and assuming it was serious enough to delay launch), then it was something serious with the 4G to to 3G or 4G drains your battery...or some other connection/speed issue...and if that is the case...I guess we really dont need a verizon 4G phone right now...
