I'm still holding out hope for a surprise by Google at the announcement this year but I'm pretty sure it will be what we saw from the leaks.
Yeah, same here. I'm hoping that Google at this year's pixel debut event make some last minute surprise that is awesome! Probably not, but here's hoping to do!

I have a Pixel Stand - phone on it at night and off in the morning - the phone and I are both happy and charged -
lol.
I'm actually trying a new strategy to increase battery life. No charging overnight (not good for it). Keeping it charged between 40-80%. Small charging time if needed. We'll see how it goes.

I do something slightly similar. However, do do the whole pandemic and working from home most of the time still, I keep it charging off my laptop via USB type-c data cable it just takes about an hour and 40 minutes to fully charge instead of 40 minutes but whatever. I don't know if that's any better for the battery but it's something different.

I have read 4,765 different opinions about charging phones, saving batteries, blah blah blah - my plan has worked for the last 2 or 3 Pixels - both my Pixel and I are still in top shape - ;)

I like wireless charging for at night, generally I don't have to charge much during the day but if I day I may use the stand on my desk depending on what I'm doing. Pixel wireless charging is super slow though so you pretty much have to keep it on the charger to get anything out of it.

One thing that drove me nuts about my 4XL is the brightness of the AoD at night would keep me awake on the stand. I really like the ability to schedule the AoD being off at night on the S20.

How do you like the cameras of the S20 compared to the P4XL?? I just sent back a Note 20U because it didn't take as good of shots as my P4XL, at least imo.

My only concern with the P5 is the Battery. Period.
I don't care about the software optimization Google does to make the battery more efficient.
We've seen in past Pixels that the battery is on the low side.
Please! Please! Let there be a decent battery!
4000mAh battery in the P5.

I've been charging like this for 2 years. Are you familiar with the AccuBattery Pro app? You can customize your charging parameters and it will notify you when it charges to 80%, or whatever percentage you chose, so you can take it off the charger.

No! I was thinking about that yesterday though wondering if there was a way to stop charging at a certain point. I'll check it out.
Thanks!

You're welcome! You can try out the non-Pro version for free. I don't remember the differences because I've been using it for so long. The developers are also very responsive if you have questions.

I agree with you here. That's my concern with the Pixel 5 as well. I mean my Pixel 3 XL has a 3450 mAh battery not sure how much better a 4000 mAh battery would be but time will tell.
I think it's a significant upgrade. I had the P2 & P3. The P3's battery was 215mAh bigger, but I could definitely tell the difference. I think a 550 difference could make a big difference.

It could be right. I mean for me, the XL variant had a bigger battery and that lasts me a day and a little the way I use my phone which I'm not complaining about at all. In fact, there's not many things I do complain about my Pixel 3 XL especially since it's on Android 11 beta right now. With that being said, The only thing I would truly miss is the wide-angle selfie camera lens which I use constantly. I'm not sure why modern smartphones in general can incorporate that somehow into the design but whatever. But Yeah, ny pixel battery is nothing to snuff that.

Excellent point. Two weeks ago I bought a P4XL for $500. I was actually really interested in some of the Motion Sense stuff as it looks similar to Moto Actions (or whatever it was called) on my Moto X2--I loved them! The pone just arrived yesterday & I like a lot about it, except that it's the 64 GB variant. I also didn't realize how slow the wireless charging is--11w. It took over 3 hours to fully charge on my Samsung wireless charger from 2%.

The P5 has 18w wireless charging. This, larger storage, more RAM, & 300mAh difference in the battery might be worth the tradeoff of the older Snapdragon chip for me.

I was looking at a P4XL for myself, but it didn't make sense with my P3XL still. As far as wireless charging, it's a cool idea like I said, but for me at least it's not practical. During a day, I've been leaving it charged up connected to my laptop during work. In the car, it's connected to my car for Android Auto which is USB charging. I just don't have any for wireless charging my life. As far as the Moto actions and the motion sense, I read reviews that it was either you love it, or you hate it feeling. I also read reviews that a lot of P4 users were disabling their motion sense because they didn't feel it was a benefit enough and it was draining the battery far too quickly for them. Yeah, I run reviews that Google is working on a faster wireless charger for the Pixel 5 phones. Again, well I'll have to see what happens when they actually debut their phone in the accessories. One of the things I still love about my P3XL is the fact that for Google photos backup cloud storage for photos , I still have unlimited photo backup cloud storage at original resolution. That was one of the things that the p4's did away with that I wasn't too thrilled with. Ah yes, the Moto actions from my Moto x. I love that phone! Best bang for the buck phone with great looks and customization you could get. unfortunately it hit the Motorola bottom line financial is too much otherwise it would still be manufacturing that phone to this day. Moto actions are cool, I just don't see the need to get a Motorola edge plus phone when pixel phones exist. But that's just my opinion. Plus, I would never get a phone with a wonderful edge display ever again.

I absolutely agree with you re: the unlimited storage with all phones after the 3 & 3XL. I thought it was stupid & greedy, especially given how abysmal the storage was and the price point. This is a huge Google advantage and they just took the cheap road. Oh and I loved my Moto X2 as well--customized with a bamboo back and grass green speaker grills. Loved it until i smashed it on the pavement one day...

I first had wireless charging on a Palm Pre, circa 2009. It's insane that it isn't standard on all but really cheap phones by now. I've wanted it ever since. I got a free wireless charging stand with my Note 10. I had no idea how fast the N10 charged until I saw the 3+ hours it took the P4XL to wirelessly charge. It's a huge thing for me, and the only reason I didn't buy the Pixel 4a instead.

It would be great if Google could "learn" from Motorola and provide similar features that don't require all of the Soli tech to accomplish.

I agree with you completely! When I read the reviews of the Pixel 4's having capped out storage at highest resolution, I thought that Google was topping out as well on storage ideas. But whatever. As far as going forward, I'm glad that the pixel 5 won't have the soli radar chip. Other than that, I'm very interested to see what Google designs it with and to see if these images are actually true. As for wireless charging, I don't use it now on my P3 XL, I probably wouldn't have my next pixel phone either lol. The next Pixel 5 phone has to do a few things right, great battery life, doesn't have to have a huge amount of RAM space in my opinion... My phone has never frozen up once on apps. It has to do amazing cameras still, and improving the video quality on the Pixel phones wouldn't be too bad either. personally I have read that face unlock on the p4's was gray and it was a cool novelty Future, but I can't honestly say that my fingerprint scanner on the back of my phone has ever failed me once. that says a lot considering how often we use our phones and more importantly how often we actually unlock our phones to get into our home screen.

I don't remember any freezing or lagging issues on my P2, but I did have some with the P3--not a lot, but it was surprising. I had issues with FPSs on both P2 & P3, but much less on the P3--and cleaned both regularly with alcohol. I haven't set up face unlock on the P4 yet. I'm curious to see how it works with a mask...

Yeah, I heard that a lot of users for the Pixel 3's had freezing issues and battery issues. I didn't have any of those with my P3XL though. I heard it doesn't work very well with the mask. Neither does face unlock work well with a mask either.
