Not sure, I may be in the minority here but I like face unlock and soli and really thought Google would expand and refine the tech to put in the P5. Don't really know if 5G is worth it at this stage so if I'm not really blown away by some hidden or undisclosed features or a too good of a trade in deal to pass up, might just keep my P4XL for a while longer.

Ya I'm good with my 4xl as well.

I'm actually excited about getting the fingerprint sensor back. I don't hate face unlock, but it's not as accurate or as fast as the fs. The only reason i may not bite on the p5 is the smaller screen compared to the 4xl, assuming the 6" screen size is true.

definitely not.. I will be keeping my pixel 4 or going back to Samsung. if all the rumors are true the Pixel 5 will be a downgrade. no 2x optical zoom, no face unlock, and a lesser chip. I might consider it if it has a quad HD screen but probably not. I keep hoping that the rumors are not true and Google will surprise us all

You know, that fingerprint scanner *is* pretty enticing...

Like you, I'm fine using Face Unlock, and I'm loving my in-display fingerprint sensor... But there's nothing quite like the blazing-fast fingerprint scanners of years past...

The more I think about it the more likely I'll upgrade my 4xl to the 5. Will wait for benchmarks but it should be as fast, but with more ram. The fingerprint sensor will feel like an old glove and be very handy in the age of masks. The biggest benefit will be the bigger battery. The biggest downside will be not having a zoom lens though. Will appreciate my monthly payment going down a bit too. Not pre ordering but will wait until a few reviews come out

No face unlock, no on screen fingerprint scanner are a disappointment. But unless there are some glaring problems with the Pixel 5, I'll most likely pick one up. Especially since it will be much cheaper than previous versions.

Think I read that it is a smaller phone but as the bezels are smaller, the usable screen is the same. Suits me.

I bought a Pixel 3, two weeks before they started selling the 4a. I paid $379 for a new one, sealed box. Wish I would have waited. Coming from an iPhone X, I wasn't keeping my eye on Android announcements.

I definitely plan to get the 5. The Pixel 3's camera and the Android 11 swipe UI have me sold. I want the edge to edge screen like my old iPhone X. No notch is icing on the cake. No bloatware is great too.

My days of paying $1k plus for a phone and paying a quarter of that for Apple Care are over.

Nice to be back on Android.

I have not seen anything that indicates improvements over the pixel 4 xl. So, nah, I'll probably pass. I got my 128gb for a killer deal back in April, zero complaints. There are really zero reasons to upgrade with nothing to gain from the 5.

Unfortunately, I just also agree. 8bkess the pixel 5 has a killer feature, I absolutely love my Pixel 3 XL! Not really any reason for me to upgrade either.

You think pixel 5 is better than pixel 4xl?

I don't have an opinion yet. Some of these may be subjective. Hence the question.

Here are the potential pros that I see: 5G, a bigger battery, and the newer processor?

Screen size: 6" vs 6.3" on the Pixel 4XL but the 5 has 88.76 % vs 83.99% on the 4XL screen to body.

Granted there are things that I would like to have seen, but that's what I see so far.

I'll likely upgrade but it will come down to resale value and options.

The trade-in with google made it easy in years past. We'll see what's available when the time comes.

Thanks

If I didn't get my 128gb with a killer deal from a local sale back in April, I would have not left my 3 xl. Having used both, they are basically the same experience.

I agree with you! I've only had a P4XL for a couple of weeks now and I LOVE face unlock and Motion Sense! I had a P2 and P3, and really liked them, but I think these features add a lot. I have a working plausible theory... Maybe Google is doing a reset in 2020 because of all of the flack they got last year with the Pixel 4 line, i.e. price versus features like storage, memory, battery, etc. They seem to have addressed these issues with the P4a and P4aXL, and the upcoming P5. I can't imagine that they would just trash everything they've done with Soli, but who knows.

I'm really hoping we see this come back into play with a Pixel 6.

I would really love to have more storage and battery though...
