Are you gonna buy it?

Anyone here with a 6P going to go for it? I bought the 6P as my first Nexus last year with the intent of selling it after a year to buy the new Nexus. However with the price increase, that makes this plan a lot more expensive. However, I feel like if I don't sell now, I'll have to keep the 6P for another year or two to get value out of it. Thoughts?

I've got a 6p and I went ahead and ordered the silver XL 128 GB. It's overpriced but I really want one and my birthday was the other day so I figured I'd get myself a gift. I love my 6p but the pixel will have features that my 6p won't get.

I want one! But I can't afford it this time. Although I think the price is right. Google/Android OS is beyond time when you really use all the features like Now, Tap, Assistant, without talking about the powerful search engine, specially in the photo app.

I love how everyone is saying that it's too expensive. Apple has been gouging prices for years, yet they still sell. Samsung is basically the same price as Apple, and yet they still sell. I'm assuming the V20 will probably be pretty dang expensive, as well. It will probably still sell, although at lower numbers than its Samsung and Apple counterparts. Yet Google can't make a premium phone and ask for premium prices? Why? Makes no sense to me. I understand many of us would prefer something cheaper. I would too. But I don't see why Google, one of the biggest and best known companies on the planet can't ask for premium prices. I just don't get it. EVERY phone has compromises. Apple has compromises. Samsung has compromises. But their prices are justified where Google's isn't?

This is Year Zero for the Pixel. Google is going all in on their own wholly immersive ecosystem. I don't necessarily think that this phone will sell in the bajillions. But if it has a solid showing in Verizon and at the Play Store, I think this is just the first leg of the Google marathon. And I'm happy to join in the race. I've been wanting Google to step in the ring for awhile, so I'm ditching Apple and going back to an all-Google world and joining in on the fun. Hope it's a good ride.

Always remember "Too you"

Surely you mean to tell that to numerous other people posting in the Pixel forums, as I'm not the one running around asserting that phones need to check certain boxes in order to be qualified as premium. Especially because I actually understand that value is something that is quantified differently to each individual.

I agree with you to an extent, but I wish they would include the same capacities for every color, and not have a limited release of one color. IMO, that's stupid and the same kind of games they've played with their other launches. The Iphone is expensive, but at least you can get what you want, and there are no limited versions of the phone. Apple under promises, and over delivers. Apple and Samsung are also on every carrier.

Too expensive to buy outright, but I am glad to see it is available on Project fi with an installment plan. That makes it much more interesting to me, especially if the camera is as good as they claim. I'll be very interested in the real-world tests of the camera. I find the AI stuff a negative since it tends to work so erratically and often be less than useful. I know, I know everyone keeps saying AI is improving and will someday rule the world, but until it can answer basic questions with an answer that doesn't make me laugh or scream I'll pass.

It is. And you can pay monthly.

The more I watch the mini hands-on videos, the more I want one. I'm just frustrated with the process. I really want the very blue one, and have no idea if it will ever be available again. Google is holding me hostage, and I don't want to buy one now if I can get a blue one. First world problems, ha ha, I know.

You all have made good points about the price. I defended the price of the Nexus 6 a few years ago, but I can't defend the price of the pixel phones. Every other flagship phone has something extra to offset what it doesn't have. The Note 7 only comes in one capacity, but had a microSD card slot. The iphone has no microSD card slot but comes in more large storage options. Both phones are water resistant, and there is no limited color.

Having said all that, all these flagship phones are too expensive IMO. What I like about the Pixel phones is the software exerience and Google's ecosystem. I have an Iphone 7 plus, and I like it a lot, but stock Android has caught up to, and even surpassed IOS IMO. This seems to be a little known secret.

From the experience of my Nexus 6P with 7.0, it ran smoother than my Iphone 7 plus. For some reason the Iphone 7 plus, while still a great phone; stutters here and there. I can tell just by watching the few videos that the Pixel phones are running smoother. I love Googles card animations.

I ordered my one 2 hours after the announcement. Blue was already sold out.... Probably instantly.

I understand this, as well. I'm sure there is some sort of reasoning behind the discrepancy in capacities, colors, etc. Just like there is with the Jet Black iPhone 7/7Plus. It isn't available in 32gb and they have a shortage of 128gb/256gb variables due to limitations and difficulties during production.

That's true about the Jet black Iphone 7/7 Plus, I hadn't thought about that. It doesn't matter, I went ahead and ordered one, the 32GB very silver model. I usually like more space but Google has beat me down, I'm a subscriber to Google music, have purchased many of their movies online, use Google drive & photos all of which are in the cloud, so I don't need all the extra space anymore.

How is it cheaper than the HTC 10???

Here in Germany the HTC 10 sells for 549 to 600€. The Pixel phone starts at 769€..

The new pixel phones also do not have OIS: The Pixel and Pixel XL's cameras do not have optical image stabilization (OIS)

Please explain to me, how is the Pixel phone better than the HTC 10? I can only see an advantage in the timely OS updates. Apart from that, there is absolutely nothing that is better on the pixel phone..

Better software, better security, software updates, better display, larger battery, better camera, better processor, VR ready, much better storage options, unlimited photos, Assistant, etc, etc.

Awesome and awesome. But I'm still on the fence if I'm ready to drop my note 5 and upgrade or just wait until the inevitable next generation of pixels. I mean my note 5 is still going strong and rumored to be getting nougat eventually.

So far since the Nexus 4 I've been able to sell my "Last year Nexus" to pay for at least 1/2 the cost to upgrade to the latest model. Looking on Swappa I might be able to get about $380 for my 64 GB 6p and that would pay for nearly 1/2 the cost of the new Pixel.. Only difference is the 1/2 is getting bigger and bigger each year. if I sell my 6p right now I still need about $400 to upgrade to the Pixel... I sold the Nexus 6 and only had to pay about $300 to upgrade to the 6p... The year before it was roughly $250 to sell and upgrade..... About $200 the year before that....

For now I am going to stick with the 6p and see if Google maybe discounts the Pixel a little bit around the holidays or early next year. Then I might make the leap...

Bought my 6p at the last reveal and love it. Ordered my pixel xl yesterday.

Better software? How? The HTC 10 runs Marshmallow and very soon Nougat. It also has a very nice and smooth UI.
Better storage options? On the HTC 10 you can have an SD card.

The Google Assistant is interesting but not game changing and it will certainly come to all Android devices.
Better processor? Tell me when you will see any real difference.

Unlimited photos? For the price difference I could buy 1Tb Google storage for 5 years..
Now let's compare the design and build quality. Let's compare the audio quality and the speakers..You will see, these devices are very close. Having to pay such a difference for the Pixel is not justified. Not even close..
The camera does not have OIS..I am not sure it is better than the HTC 10..

just gonna lol and then go somewhere else. lol.

I kinda agree with some of this. I don't see how this phone should cost this much. I might wait for sale because I just can't afford that scratch
