How is it better software? Because it's Google? Lol, Samsung's Android implementation is by far better than Google's, I'm not even sure what Google does better than the OEMs anymore to be honest. Larger battery doesn't mean anything, battery life does; Pixel XL has 3450 maH, iPhone 7+ has 2900 maH, guess which one has the better battery life? In short, we won't know how it compares to the other Android phones until reviews come out.

Like Battery, Processor doesn't mean anything; just because it has a better processor doesn't mean the phone is more responsive (which is the metric people care about). So again, reviews will decide that.

Better software? How? The HTC 10 runs Marshmallow and very soon Nougat. It also has a very nice and smooth UI.
Better storage options? On the HTC 10 you can have an SD card.

The Google Assistant is interesting but not game changing and it will certainly come to all Android devices.
Better processor? Tell me when you will see any real difference.

Unlimited photos? For the price difference I could buy 1Tb Google storage for 5 years..
Now let's compare the design and build quality. Let's compare the audio quality and the speakers..You will see, these devices are very close. Having to pay such a difference for the Pixel is not justified. Not even close..
The camera does not have OIS..I am not sure it is better than the HTC 10..

This phone would have been impressive in 2014, but as of today it doesn't hold a candle to the other phones in its price bracket. It's overpriced and uninspired, Google is just hoping that the nexus-or-die people come on board.

Heck for the price, I'd expect them to support it for more than 2 years like Apple (4 years) does with all of their phones. Google's debut into hardware is just a swing and a miss, but they have a cult following that will keep them afloat until they decide the company's new direction in 5 months lol.

Security and software updates aren't the same bullet point. The Pixels have file level encryption, secured boot image and all the Nougat API's for security that Marshmallow devices don't have. On updates, yes, they also do get monthly security updates that the 10 lacks, but that's not all that falls into the security updates. On the real software updates point, the 10 probably will get N, almost certainly will not get O or P and will likely be slower than the Pixel to get 7.1 ... oh, the Pixel ships with it while the 10 is on 6.0.1. By the way, how well does multi window work on the HTC 10? You preferring Samsung's software to Google's doesn't have anything to do with the HTC's software vs Google's.

Processor DOES mean something, because the GPU and CPU speeds and UI smoothness aren't the only things that come with a SoC. There are some features that, as pointed out on our blog, will probably and/or definitely not be made available to the 820 that ship with the 821.

VR ready via DayDream isn't subjective, it's binary. Pixel has it, 10 doesn't.
Better storage options isn't subjective, 128 GB is factually larger than 32 GB of storage. It's actually 4 times as much. 32 + 32 + 32 + 32 = 128.
Unlimited photo storage is not subjective, it's binary. Pixel has it, 10 doesn't.

So subjective has a meaning that is other than how you're using it. All of the things I listed are objectively better on the Pixel than on the 10. There are some subjective elements that I chose not to list because arguing about preferences is kinda stupid. But the objective things, the things above in this post and in my earlier post, are factually better in one device over another.

I ignored the other person that went on a similar trip into misinformation as you because they said they could get 5 years of 1 TB Google storage for the price difference between the Pixel and the HTC 10. The most expensive Pixel XL is $879 and the HTC 10 is $699, a difference of $280. Google Drive sells 1 TB of storage for $9.99. $9.99 * 60 = $599.40. That bit of info was wrong by more than double and disingenuous because you cannot get an HTC 10 that's the same level of quality as the Pixel XL.

Neither of you mentioned the poor implementation of USB C with QuickCharge 3.0 that makes the HTC 10 dangerous and neither of you presented any actual facts to challenge. Misinformation isn't cool. It does a disservice to the forums and to both the device that you're attacking and the one that you're defending without cause. No one insulted your device so don't lie about the ones that people compare to it.

I don't even own an HTC 10, I just agree with the guy who said the Pixel doesn't provide any more value than it. HTC 10's quick charge works fine with the included adapter. Also the HTC 10 costs $549, not $699 like you seem to think.

I've never used the HTC 10. This is the first year in a while that I didn't purchase an HTC phone. From my experience in the past, HTC phones with the Sense UI run pretty well, and I like it better than Touchwiz. I've always still preferred Google phones however.

I also like that even as the Pixel phones are said to be made by HTC, there is no indication of it on the phone. I like the phone having just the "G" logo on the back. It's something I've always wanted Google to do with the Nexus phones.

I have a Chromebook Pixel. This device was designed internally by Google and it's a nice device. It was a while before I found out it was actually manufactured by Samsung.

This is where I would disagree with you. You're stating your opinion as fact. The software implementations by the manufactures you mentioned don't make the software better for me as an individual.

All the manufacturers copy from each other. Google phones had wireless charging, the 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom, and the stacked-card vertical multitasking. Apple's Iphone had the first front facing camera etc.. I could go on and on. IMO the new implementations and copying that other manufacturers do, make it better for all of us, the consumers.

It seems like every Nexus/Google phone launch, I get into these discussions as to why I like Stock Android vs. other manufacture UI's. I'm not going to explain it this time, because it doesn't ever seem to change anyone's mind. I'll just say that, if you're really into Google's ecosystem, the Google phones with stock Android work the best from my experience.

I agree about the pricing, but I'm starting to feel that way about a lot of phones.

7.0 is better than 6.0.1 and 7.1 is better than 7.0. If and when the 10 gets 7.1, if the Pixel hasn't moved on from there yet, they can be compared. As it is, HTC is way behind on just the base version so not a whole lot of benefit to doing a feature by feature... But we can.

Yes, 89 is a larger number than 88. That's the objective part. Which one various reviewers prefer would be subjective and is as of yet unknown.

Internal storage objectively performs better than SD cards on speed, stability and security. 128 is objectively greater than 32. If you're saying you prefer 32 and using a 96 GB or higher SD card to balance it out, that'd be subjective based on preference and unless you're using MORE than 96 GB card, it would still be worse.

The HTC 10 is $699 MSRP on HTC's site, but even your $150 discount doesn't make the most expensive Pixel XL $599 more expensive. But again that's misleading, because you cannot get an HTC 10 with the features upgraded to the Pixel XL level.

All of these things are quantifiable or binary yes/no items that can be directly compared without any need for opinions. All of them fall in the favor of the Pixel.

One can argue that they don't personally value those differences, but not that the differences don't exist and not that HTC is somehow ahead despite being behind on every listed metric above.
