Are you still happy with the g4?

Nice -- I have the same exact case :). Is that a good anime?

I really love this case. Makes the phone feel more solid and adds more weight, which I like since I thought the G4 is a bit too light for me.

Which one? The one playing on the phone or my home screen? Those are 2 different animes.

Just wanna thank everyone in this forum, it's really helpful. Few days ago I was torn between choosing G4/S6, but after reading this forum its easier to choose. Can't wait for Friday when I'm getting my G4!!

I turned haptic feedback off system wide and it had made a huge difference.

Made a huge difference in terms of what?

I like having Vibrate turned on for the keyboard and navigation buttons, to provide some feedback that my taps were registered.

But if there's a big benefit of some sort to turning it off, I might give that a try.

I flashed an international version onto my phone and noticed that I was having no more keyboard lag/hesitation.. Same thing with the UI in general. Only thing that I could think of was that the haptic was turned off by default. I flashed the tmo version back onto it and turned off haptic and the issues I was having have mostly disappeared. It's almost as if the system would hang on occasion after vibration. Doesn't hurt to give it a try.

While I don't own the G4 just yet, I do experience lag when I have the haptic feedback turned on for my S4. Just wondering if you had any lag issues with it on especially when typing? Thinking about getting a G4 at the end of August.

Disabling haptic feedback may or may not help, but it does help with the battery, if only a little.

Doing that, disabling carrier bloat with the debloater tool, and turning animations and transitions to. 5 (placebo, I know) really makes a difference with this phone.

Its faster than my buddies 6+ and my wife's s6 in a side by side comparison. Granted, my wife's s6 loads large games and etc faster.... Due to the better processor.

I have not noticed lag while typing. Mine is a Verizon model, I've used the LG keyboard, and now the Google keyboard.

I liked the LG keyboard, for the punctuation it offers on the main screen, and for how you can hold the space bar to shift the cursor left/right (brilliant!). But the word suggestions were too sluggish to appear for my tastes. Don't bother with cute little animations, just make them appear. Their intent is to save time, making them animate into view is too slow, and defeats the purpose.

So now I'm using the Google keyboard. It's better with suggestions, though I miss the punctuation and cursor-moving abilities of the LG keyboard.

But I haven't noticed lag with either one. I do typically swipe to type, vs tapping, so that could change things? It only vibrates on the initial touch, not for every letter.

I just tried disabling vibrate on keypress for the Google keyboard.

I love everything about mine except the battery so far. I've had it 3 days and it barely makes it 2/3 of a work day at best so far

I always charge after my phone drops below 50%. Preferably lower. After conditioning, your batter will get better, a day of usage for sure. It's still not great though. Got the extra battery on promotion. It's sitting in my G4 box with the black leather back I picked up on Amazon. They'll both come in handy, I'm sure.

Yeah I got the extra battery on order. I hate switching batteries around so I might get a mophie case if this battery doesn't get any better

i'm very happy with mine. came from a blackberry z30 which has awesome battery life and i've n=been pleasantly surprised with my g4. battery has been lasting the full day and going to bed with 30%+ most nights still. haven't seen any lag and am runny nova launcher and i love it. awesome camera and notifications have been smooth and no hiccups. glad i switched

Picked up my G4 this last Tuesday. Keep in mind, my review is based off of coming from the Galaxy S4 as my last phone. I was hesitant to take the leap and commit to any one of the current flagships, for my own personal reasons (they're all solid in one way or another).

I'll start with fluidity and responsiveness - It's easily as fluid as my S4 was, more so actually. To be expected, given the 2 year difference in hardware, and TouchWiz isn't exactly known for being "light". I found the responsiveness to be finicky, as most do. Unsure if the update to 10g firmware (AT&T variant) made any difference or not, but it is still lackluster compared to what I was used to on my S4. Here and there, touches simply don't register, or require more pressure than they should to register.

Battery life - Helluva lot better than the S4, no doubt about it. I'm a very heavy user, so I never expect more than half a day's worth of screen-on time. On a full charge, with moderate use (I wouldn't say heavy on this particular day), I was able to get over 20 hours of use, probably ~3-4hrs SoT. Since then, I can not only get through a work day with it, but then some, before needing to charge again. Certain apps/actions that used to suck the life out of my S4 don't seem to tax the G4 nearly as much. Especially impressive when actively using BT, GPS, and LTE simultaneously for a good amount of time.

Heat - Eh, every Android will get hot when you have enough apps running in RAM, available for switching between them. As others have stated, clearing the RAM from time to time really does help. My S4 would get super hot when I was doing a lot of multitasking if it included heavy data use or any games. This phone simply doesn't get as hot, nor heat up as quick. Love it.

Software - I honestly wouldn't know. The moment I got it home, I began the root/debloat process, as well as restoring items from TB. I run Nova launcher, have been for years now.

Screen - Hardly fair to compare, but clearly it's fantastic. It doesn't necessarily get as bright as my S4 did, but the viewing angles are better; I can clearly see any image in any lighting. At its brightest, I could only barely see a lot of what I was doing on my S4 if outside in clear daylight.

Overall, nearly a week in, I'm more than happy with it. Given it is the only flagship that offers what my hardware needs are, I do not see myself swapping it out anytime soon.

Edit: I left out the camera. I have taken very few pictures, not a lot of effort put into any of them, and they are both clearer and more vibrant than my previous phone. Definitely a fan.

My first 3 weeks with it I wasn't sure if I liked it but now I'm super happy with, i got used to the back buttons and their clickiness and now i love them. Also love the fact that it allows me to use different pictures for each screen i have on the home-screen, this is the only phone i know that provides this feature (maybe I'm wrong). The camera is greatttt, all my friends go to me when taking pictures, this kicks iPhone's *** easily.

The only problem i have with it is when i unlock it (i use the swipe feature) it always lags or freezes for about 2 seconds if i open an app or the menu right away after unlocking it... its like its trying to get everything ready and in the process it stutters for a couple of seconds... i used knock on code as well and sometimes it didn't register my touches... kinda frustrating but other than that i love the phone.

The other thing i dont like, is that the gallery app does not include a built-in photo editor. Even Motorola which practically runs stock Android does... Having said that, the G4 is greatttt, very happy i bought it and that not many people have it, makes you kinda stand out. Battery is awesome for me and the keyboard works flawlessly, idk why people have problems with it... anyways, this is a great option if you wanna buy a new phone! :)

So I factory reset the phone and installed only apps that I'll be using. Gonna run this week and see if anything is better.

I bought my lg g4 last month and I'm still very happy with it. I'm using the dual sim model H818p. It don't have any lag issue. The phone is buttery smooth. It never heat up unless I intentionally push it (heavy gaming). The battery life has been good so far. If I use a lot, then I need to charge it with a power bank in the afternoon to get through the night. But, as it turned out, my portable charger built in charging cable apparently support quick charge. In half an hour, I could charge 30% or more. For keyboard, I use swiftkey and it work flawlessly. And the camera is very good. So I'm very happy with g4.

I'm sending mine back today, I just can't live with the lag. The camera is very good and the battery is good but then it should be because of its size. The lag and stuttering ruins the phone and is worse than my Note 4 was and my lag free Moto X and iPhone 6 make it look amateurish.

I am happy with mine. And I finally was able to get through a 14-day return period with a G4, with no outstanding issues, so I'm keeping this one.

It's not perfect. The battery life could be better, and I've gotten widely-varying SOT, even though I don't do any gaming (so no really-intensive use).

I do get some intermittent lag when going back to the Home screens, a pause before the icons are displayed again. It seems like the launcher either stops running, or quietly crashes, sometimes? This morning I had just been at the Home screen, I opened Waze, then went back to Home. It paused a second or two at a blank screen with just my wallpaper, then the Home screen reappeared, but I noticed that the Accuweather widget on the main Home screen did its little "startup" animation. Making me think that things were starting fresh, rather than just being delayed at showing me the normal Home screen again. It gave the impression of when you have to kill, then manually re-run, Explorer.exe in Windows.

This doesn't usually happen, but I might get it once a day or so. Weird, and kind of annoying, but I hope a software tweak can fix it. I haven't tried Nova yet, either.

But I like the screen, and I've gotten accustomed to the bulk. I like the camera, and the manual capabilities. I have not rooted it yet, but I'm hoping that will allow some battery-life improvements.

Do you have a battery management app that keeps killing your launcher maybe?

So strange, mine hasn't stuttered once in 4 days. Maybe try factory resetting before you take it back?
