Asus Transformer tf701t battery issue

suddenly about 2 days ago i noticed that even when not running graphics intensive apps the tablet runs hot and the battery life has gone to nothing. I used to get easily all day usage (6am to 10pm) with power to spare and with only short gaps in usage throughout the day.

any idea why this is happening? I have gone through all the running files and closed everything off not being used. Also, i run an app that kills inactive processes to save power.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a microSD card inserted? If so, unmount it (in Settings>Storage) and remove it. If there's a corrupt file on there, the Media Scanner may be working overtime because it's hung up on that file.
