Re: at&t only battery drain?

I notice when I'm at home on WiFi there is usually hardly any drain.

Re: at&t only battery drain?

Not sure if I can add much to the discussion but I thought I'd post anyway as it might be helpful. I have a Verizon branded G2 but am running the stock AT&T rom (D80010d). I am rooted with twrp recovery but am other wise stock (stock kernel, no debloating etc). I get very good battery life and have had this setup for roughly a month. I leave wifi, gps, and all location settings on all the time, as well as LTE. I also don't bother killing carrier iq or anything else. Here are a few screenshots of my battery life from a few days ago. I don't have much screen on time this time around but if you look the phone was awake for over 6 hours, and after almost 48 hours I still had close to 40% left. Pretty awesome I think as I can get 7+ hours screen on time and still manage over 24 hours off the charger as well.

Re: at&t only battery drain?

So I got ATT to send me a new device in the hopes that I had a defective one. I received said device the other day and after 3 days of typical use it's arguably WORSE on battery life than my original device that prompted me to start this thread. I have posted some battery life screen shots.

I'm not really sure what to do now. Some of you in this thread are experiencing the same thing, others appear to be getting the same awesome battery life that all the reviewers and many others are overjoyed about. Sooo, what's my next move? Rooting and flashing a custom ROM? Trying to root and get rid of carrier ID? If that is the problem, why isn't everyone with an att device getting hit? Ugh.

i would suggest checking all the apps you have syncing and put them to at least 3 or 6 hours update cycles. anything else might drain the battery quickly...

Re: at&t only battery drain?

Wait for the KitKat update rolling through right now. As far as I can tell, Carrier IQ has been killed!

Re: at&t only battery drain?

After updating to 4.4.2, there now is no option to stop Carrier IQ as before. In fact, Carrier IQ is no longer listed when you go to Android System.
It is either removed or "buried" so that it cannot be removed.

As long as I don't have to turn it off every day to keep if for endlessly searching for GPS in a 40-story office building, I'm happy!

Re: at&t only battery drain?

I experienced several weeks of stellar battery performance followed by rapid battery drain for
no known reason.I had a phone that needed a charge every 5 to 6 days with light usage. I now have a phone that went from full charge to 7% in 17 hours with no usage! LG and att have been of no help. Probably softwear, maybe hardware?

Re: at&t only battery drain?

Come on guy's, settings, apps/running/Android System, like always. IT IS THERE!

I've had similar issues the past few weeks and seems to be Google Services related. A reboot usually solves it for me.

There is absolutely no Carrier IQ listed anymore in the new KitKat update (4.4.2)!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: at&t only battery drain?

I think they buried it. I Hope someone finds it and finds a way to turn it off.

Re: at&t only battery drain?

it looks like KitKat might have fixed the battery drain. Although I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: at&t only battery drain?

See screenshot below. Downloaded the app above (CarrierI IQ Detector) and it says that CarrierIQ is present on the device. (However, I have had no unusual battery drain on 4.4.2; in fact, the battery might even be better than on 4.2.2!) As you can see I am still at 66% battery with moderate usage today:

use system tuner go to android system disable all carrieriq listed. sadly its need root. ok my situation is like:
im using a G Pro 2 ported rom with no MLT IMS and CIQ, its first time charge after a install a rom so its not good calibrated i guess... its 23hr out of charge with 4hr screen on time and still 39% is it good?

Re: at&t only battery drain?

I just got my LG G2 with at&t a few wks ago.... up until today my battery life has been amazing. But for some strange reason today it's been draining like crazy. I went to my battery use app and it shows that something called the mediaserver is using most of my battery, like 45%! But when I checked my husband's phone since we have the a same one, his "mediaserver" is only using 2%. I don't even know what mediaserver is?!

Re: at&t only battery drain?

It's what reads music on your device. You may have a corrupt music file. Try a reboot. If that doesn't work you may want to try deleting your music, test it then add your music back to your phone.
