Atrix vs Atrix 2 which would you pick?

Def a sleeper device...barely any cases out and no love from XDA.

Yes it is kind of a bummer that the Atrix 2 is getting no love...or at least limited love! The question of this thread is which would you pick?

I had the OG Atrix and the Atrix 2. Hand down I prefer the Atrix 2. I sold my Atrix when I heard this was coming and I paid for it off contract at 450 but I also paid for my OG Atrix of contract as well. Is it worth upgrading to from the Atrix? That is a harder question to answer, and an individual decision. For me, yes!

I like the size, feel and screen of the Atrix 2 more. I also like the camera, video and UI more that the OG Atrix. Not having to sign info motoblur is a plus in my view, so I am enjoying. Battery life is similar. After a week of using the Atrix 2 I have no worries about making it a full day, although I charge it every night. (7 am to 10pm)

Limited cases etc right now. Hopefully more items are on the way!

I got the Samsung Galaxy S II today and the difference between the A2 and the Galaxy S II is amazing. No problems with the new phone and I've moved apps to the SD card and restarted the phone many times. Not a single problem.

Thanks all for all of the help. Hopefully, Motorola will have a software update available soon to address some of the issues the phone has. I'm glad at least some people received good A2's.
All the best,

I don't like that phone at all, can't stand TouchWiz and it's not very comfortable to hold. I prefer the sharpness of the A2's display over the color depth of the GSII. Holding doesn't give me the perception of a well built device, feels cheap and fragile. Not to mention the A2 has significantly better battery life. Have fun with your new toy though

I picked up an Atrix 2 last week. The AT&T store didn't have the OG Atrix in stock for a true side by side comparison but I had checked it out a few times on previous visits. The Atrix 2 did seem faster and while the fingerprint scanner may have been a cool feature I'm not sure it would've made that much difference to me. I think a few people have noted that if you aren't an OG Atrix owner then the Atrix 2 is a good choice. I made the switch to Android from webOS so it's a big change for me. So far I'm happy with the change and am slowly getting up to speed with Android. I used this forum and this thread in particular to help make the decision and I was leaning towards to Atrix 2 even before getting to the store. So in addition to my two cents on this topic, I wanted to thank you all for the insight you provided.

Thanks and I agree with U on Touchwiz. I'm using Go Launcher right now. I've changed launchers 3 times since I got the phone on Sunday. Touchwiz is not customizable enough for me. I've not used a phone's native launcher on any smartphone I've had. I don't find the screens that different between the two phones as far as sharpness - not enough to make a difference, anyway. The SGS II's screen is a bit brighter but I don't find the sharpness that different.

Completely agree! I too had an Captivate...and comparing this to a DOA GPS is kind of comical!

The Atrix 2 is solid!

Oh my gosh the Captivates GPS was the worst.

Atrix 2 is quite good, with this new round of LTE phone though, I think I may return it. Still debating that with myself.

To just get a LTE phone on AT&T right now doesn't make any sense to me, especially with the limited markets they have, now in a years time that could be a totally different subject.

I will definitely look at the skyrocket. Living in a LTE market and working in several, it makes sense. Especially since they are going to let you keep your unlimited data plan if you have it.

I plan to keep my Atrix 2, I like it too much and I will wager it will get ICS before any Samsung (Except Nexus). Who knows, I might need it if the battery life is terrible on LTE.

I will give it a good week after launch to see how it shakes out. I just hope I can switch the SIM card between the two or I will be hosed in my plans.

Phil (Harmonic),

I lost my Atrix and it was replaced with an Atrix2 (Insurance). Seems they're all out of Atrix replacements....

Hi guys,
I've been using Motorola Milestone 2 for a while and I've had a really bad time with it. First, the phone started rebooting for nothing, as it's own will and I managed to replace it for another Milestone 2 (I was still in my first 30-days-contract). Then, after 3 months or so, the new one started with the same problem and I couldn't replace it.. I had to go through warranty service and they told me it was an issue with motorola and that had happened with a lot of Milestones 2.

Now I'm changing my phone again and I want to buy the Atrix 2 and I'm afraid I'll have the same problem. Has anyone experienced this kind of issue with the Atrix 2?

I have an Atrix 4G and the lapdock and just got an Atrix 2 which doesn't fit in my lapdock. Does anyone know if there is a way to adapt the lapdock to accept the Atrix 2.

You can cut off the ends to be able to put the phone it. The phone connects to the dock, but the dock area is too small, so just cut off the ends.

It appears you folks don't know about the NEW Atrix HD??? I just got mine at Amazon for $50, no CA sales tax, shipping or restocking fees.. This phone is a TRUE sleeper.. amazing screen (HD 720p resolution), SAME Snapdragon S4 processor as the GS3 and HOX, nearly stock Android ICS, good camera, microSD slot for up to 32 gb storage, excellent build quality and some cool software features too and it runs on LTE as well. Comes in black and white with a kevlar insert on the back and much like the Razzr.. I really think it's the best deal for the money anywhere.. And with luck Moto will update ICS to Jelly Bean soon too :)
