Attention Evo Owners - Is the phone too big?

I want a new phone and love the specs of the EVo, but it just seems massive. What do you guys think after a week or so of having it?

Can it fit in a pocket?
Is it weird to hold while talking on?

Should I get it or not?

Tough call..... I came from the iPhone and then a Nexus One... At first the EVO really felt too big.... I walked out of Best Buy and just talking on the phone for the first couple of times it felt very awkward to hold when using as a phone. By the end of the first week I had semi gotten use to it but still some what liked the size of the Nexus One much better.... 6 weeks later???? I couldn't see myself returning the phone.. I have 100% gotten use to the size of the phone.. but it will just come down to personal preference really. Take Sprint up on their 30 day money back deal and use it for a few weeks and see how it feels...

I think at first it's going to feel big so use up the 30 days and at the end you will have a good idea weather it's going to work or not...

what kind of pocket is too small for the phone are you like 4' tall?

it didnt show what you quoted.
I have yet to see a pocket it does not fit in
it fits in the pockets of my gfs 5 year old son

Got it... The original quote... Sorry missed that part... I was reading what I wrote over and over again like "What?"

Yeah, No problems with my pockets... Now I could see it being a problem with my wife and her skin tight jean pockets... But that is why Women have purses right?

I typically throw it in the back pocket of my jeans opposite my wallet when I am walking around.... I keep it in my front pocket on my Khaki's when I am at work.

It was awkward at first (The size) but you do get use to it.... My wife thinks it's a monster, she hates when I am on the phone with some one and they want to talk to her and she has to hold it for more than a few seconds because of the size.... She is use to her Blackberry Curve..... She never liked my iPhone or Nexus One... she is 100% anti touch screen....

Yes
No

Depends on your personal preferences I guess. It fits just fine in my front pocket. Try one out and see how you like it. If that's not an option, I say go with it, you've got 30 days to return it.

look at any phone from the 90's and try and tell me an evo is too big

I had the very first sprint pcs phone that was released in 1996. Now that truly was a brick.

The evo is wide and tall, but not thick. I doubt it would make a noticeable bulge in anyones pants or jeans. Some of the cases are pretty bulky though. My platinum case seemed to make my evo twice as thick. So i returned it and im going naked for now. I buy a new phone every year so not a big deal if its scratched. If it breaks thats a different story though. Not many cases will protect the screen from a fall.

I have the Seidio Active Limited case, and even then it's not that big in my pocket, but then I don't wear skinny pants. In fact, I don't wear jeans, period, just dress pants or cargo shorts (woot, Hawaii), so I may not be the average user here. Regardless, the EVO fits nicely face-to-face with my Zune HD in its Speck Pixelskin case. :)

Honestly I couldn't imagine a phone being smaller. The large screen makes everything a breeze and joy to read. I primarily got it to surf the net as well as e-mail's/text, and the phone has been amazing.

This phone is perfect if you use both of your thumbs to type. I have had this phone for a week and I can't stand the small screen of my friend's iphone anymore. I have no problem with it being in my tight jean pocket because it's so thin.

I agree. For two thumb typing, this is the best device for a great typing experience. I can now type I'm portrait mode with a lot more ease than I ever could with any device. Before getting the EVO, I thought that the typing experience on the iPhone was the best that I had ever experienced, but not now. The EVO is great for typing if you prefer a touchscreen.

I'm small and it isn't too big for me. It fits in my pockets fine. My smallest jeans it sort of sticks out of the top of the pocket, but is secure in there.

I'm a girl and its not too big for me.

I keep it in my front pocket and it fits fine in most of them. I have no problem holding it to talk but I prefer bluetooth for long conversations since it can get warm if you talk for like an hour.

I use it as an alarm clock and when I wake up I check my email, use the browser a bit and there is no way I would be doing that if it had a smaller screen. Its still light enough so that you wont get tired of holding it.

I am 6'0 even and i put the EVO in my back pocket of my jeans and i have no problem with the size, my wife is 5'0 and she loves the size of the EVO. What I would have done is made less black around the phone and little bit bigger screen, I feel there is to much dead black space around the phone, maybe move the 4 buttons just a tad down some more and the htc & sprint logo move up just a tad, what do you guys think? It is still a great phone and 4G is awesome, it comes and goes in Brooklyn NY but when I have it have better speeds then my DSL when i had DSL.

I appreciate this post and thought the same thing at first regarding size, until I used the phone. With everything you can do the size is great. While it may seem big at first try using it a bit. After using the EVO for a bit I realized it wasn't too big at all. I'm happy with the device and the size.
