audio notification not working on email

I've had my S7 for several months and everything has worked as advertised. I might have tweaked something in settings somewhere ( ? ). So, now my two gmail and yahoo accounts synch (on auto and pushed immediately) but there is no audio for the accounts. Notifications are turned on and are enabled in the accounts as well. I really miss the audible notification....any suggestions greatly appreciated.

This is in the stock Email app, right? When you say notifications are enabled in the accounts, do you mean when you open the Email app, tap Menu>Settings, and select the email account? In that menu, what happens if you select a different notification tone -- does it play a sample for you?
