Sweet. Are you absolutely sure of this?

I SO wish it had a mute toggle. It needs it to be perfect.

I had this question too. Android's lock screen provides swipe-switch to toggle mute, but galaxy s line has its own lock screen. I asked this question to tmobile rep when i went to check out Vibrant. Apparently the solution is press and hold the side power button and you get a pop up menu with options for switching off the phone and toggle mute and one other option which I forgot. This works on home screen as well as lock screen. Not exactly one swipe solution but its pretty easy and acceptable. Hopefully it will be carried over to epic as well.

I still want a hardware switch that actually physically slides. It's nice to have that reassurance that the phone is actually muted.

I'm hoping the Epic will be compatible with Handcent's multicolored led light setting. You know, the one where you can pick any color you want for customization? I don't have a clue though if this can use any color besides red and blue.

Anything is possible if enough people actually buy the phone. It is unfortunate that it is sort of co-superphone on the third largest carrier of just one country. The mainstream galaxy s stuff will probably get a lot of development, but the epic 4g specifics may not. I bet the first custom roms won't support the 4G radio, for example.

I also like physical hardware switch (its easy to verify if phone sound is off), but I have one problem with them. It could be only me, but every time I needed to toggle the switch to vibrate only position on my treo, I almost always forgot to revert it back when the need was over, which resulted in alarms only buzzing away on vibrate, which unfortunately is not enough to wake me up. With soft toggle I at least have the hope that later an app might come and make it possible that phone would automatically unmute itself after set period of time (or such app might already be there).

My Palm Pre has an option in the alarm app to ignore the mute switch.

I keep it muted almost all the time.

Maybe Sprint is trying to address the lag of TouchWiz? I've read two reviews of the T-Mobile Vibrant and both are dissapointed in the lag of the phone.

Check it out: Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile USA review : Music Battery Reviewer Spin

washingtonpost.com

I've also seen a video on this site that shows a significant lag between the EVO and the Vibrant. It actually makes me a little hesitant to choose the Epic. Hopefully the problem will be addressed in "final testing."

All phones will lag if you have too many things open. I have used the phone and it was really fast.

Happy to hear it did not lag for you. I also understand that all phones will lag when running to many applications. All of that being said, MobileBurn reviews phones regularly and this seemed to be a point of contention with the Vibrant and Captivate specifically.

Here's hoping that any sort of lag on the Epic will not be too noticeably present.

It looks like the FCC has cleared the US Cellular/Cellularsouth versions of the Galaxy S. The Fascinate and Epic are nowhere to be seen.

This is what modding and rooting is for... to improve the lag...

No offense to those who might, but does anyone honestly care about the Motorola i1?

About 30% of Sprint is on the iden network. For someone who needs the features of the iden network this is a great phone.

More Android phones means more support for the Android community! Bring it!

Thanks for clearing it up. They should have dumped the Intercept, brought the i1 in July 11, and brought the Epic in July 25. Testing could have started earlier for the Epic perhaps.

UGH! Another day goes by without any word from Sprint. Plenty of rumors about other phones though. I understand there are going to be those that are serious about waiting for this phone but the business side in me can't help but think of how many sales Samsung/Sprint are losing out on due to other devices hitting the shelves. Most people want commitment pricing. It's going to take a LOT of buzz to get people to start paying full retail (IMHO).

I know right? Did you sign up at Sprint | The Now Network | Samsung Epic Coming soon for an e-mail when the phone has a release date? I keep checking my e-mail, every time one comes in, I'm hoping its for this phone rather than it is for an interview for a job... although, I'll take that information as well.

I signed up for the equivalent notice for both the Palm Pre and the EVO. I did get a notice from Sprint both times........ AFTER IT WAS ALREADY OUT!!! I'm a Sprint Premier customer too with over 6 years with them.

So, even though I've signed up for the Galaxy release info to be mailed to me, I truly don't expect to be notified in a timely manner.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure AndroidCentral will have me in the know within a day or less of any decent info regarding an actual release date.

No, but I think it's great that all the business that rely on the push to talk feature ( I have a buddy at one of those companies) might actually be able to carry around one device now instead of two. They have carried PDA's for years for their calendar collaboration etc... I think they might have gotten some WINMO phone a while back but he didn't like it.

So yay, android with push to talk....

For those that want it.
