Auto brightness issues? strange glitch?

Samsung has to have a response to this. I mean come on you almost perfect a phone and mess up on something so basic! For shame!

Unfortunately, they're not doing much about it yet. They're leaving it up to the carriers.

They can't leave it up to the carriers, once this problem becomes public is gonna cost them millions, they have to come up with a quick fix or they're stock will plummet

If it's bother you that much, return it and try out the regular. Its awsome, best phone I ever had, and I been thru a lot of them.. I am on Verizon.

I'm on a HTC M9 now. Great screen, and wonderful speakers. Samsung is not for me unfortunately. I really wanted to like the S6.

HTC does do speakers right no doubt. Had the 7 and 8. I'm hopeful the rest of the S6 goodness will make up for poor speaker quality. If not I shall excersise my 14 day return option. My first Samsung so it needs to impress definitely.

Unfortunately, that's what two Samsung reps have told me... After they make their sales to carriers it apparently is up to the carrier to make the exchange, etc.. The only remedy Samsung gave on their end was to send them the device for analysis, which would put anyone out of a phone for at least a week. I'm getting a replacement sent from T-Mobile. Hopefully it's just my phone. I'm not sure about their stock plummeting, considering the issue isn't a wide spread complaint. Now if all flagship devices were universally defective, causing recalls, then we're talking a bit of a slide.

Yup. I've noticed the same issue. I was wondering why indoors my brightness seemed down, yet I had been outside and it was far brighter. My 'Auto' setting was turned off too. So something needs a firmware update here.

I had the 7 and 8 too. The S6 does have a whole lot of good points. Camera is definitely nice. The speaker is loud but does nor have the quality or depth of the M9. Plus I love sense. Just so refined without the crazy colors.

This should be a very easily fixable software update guys. This has nothing to do with the display per se, but rather how they've inadvertently tied it in to the Auto dimming. This should be among the easiest updates to release. It's just a question when.

Frankly I like the phone way too much to make this a return issue. It's still plenty bright enough and it's not like it's anything even approaching 'dim' even though it obviously should be brighter IF you want it brighter.

Exactly my problem!! Brightness went down while my Auto was turned off! It's not suppose to do that. I had to return my Edge.... I'll wait for a fix and then I buy it again. In the mean time I'll see what g4 gives us.

Is it a big deal indoors, of course not. But on a sunny day, I had issues seeing my s5 screen with the brightness all the way up. If this is dimmer in sunlight, it will be that much harder to see. It would be amazing for Samsung to address these multiple issue reports and release an update in a timely fashion but they've been notorious for being slow on updates. I'd rather see if a replacement device may be the answer for spending $800... I'd like it to work as it should, at least for the first week of owning it.

On Verizon here and mine has same issue. How do you mess this kinda thing up and not notice it doesnt go as bright as other devices and that auto doesnt work. Ridiculous.

Yeah I'm really hoping this is a fix through OTA update. It seems like a software glitch rather than hardware.

I have the regular s6 and mine has this problem. It's. not locked to just the edge model. It's both models that have the problem. Which sucks because I don't know what to do with the phone. Also when reaching across the screen while texting the screen is so sensitive keys go off just with my skin hitting the screen, very annoying. There is no sensitivity setting.

hi phone gets very hot at times.
i recently purchased the s6 edge 64GB and I am delighted with the looks of the phone. however one feature/aspect of the phone is really annoying me to a point where I am about to write up a bad review about this feature.
The screen on full brightness during daylight is very nice and bright. however when I go into a dark room or even the toilet the screen itself would just dim down even though the "AUTO" brightness is switched off. so if auto brightness is switched off and the brightness is on manual at full brightness why on earth is the screen still controlling the brightness. I want it to remain the same whether its dark or light. if I want the phone to control the brightness I will put it on auto and allow it to take control. this is extremely annoying. have u noticed this issue?
