This might be a general android question but I'll ask here anyway because it affects our low-storage phones quite a bit.

My wifes phone always gives her low space messages and I found that Dialer Storage is using over 70mb. Looks like its mostly sms/mms messages.

She wants to save the pics she's received. Other than going thru thr thousands of messages she has and saving the attachments one by one, is there a way to detach the pics before deleting the messages? I saw Save MMS in the market but it too is one by one, and there's an Auto Save MMS by the same dev but it does it on the fly as they come in. I just need something to crawl the messages and save all attachments so I can delete them and free up her phone. She's already on grom with dalvik to cache, so beyonf a data2ext script, there are very few other options.

Thanks!

Sounds like you've pretty much summer it up. Aside from an app that will go through and save them individually (if there is one), I think it will just take her doing it manually...
I'm no expert on this subject but have never heard of anything similar to what you are describing...

Yea, I was just hoping to ask the community to see if anyone knows of such an app already existing. I wish I knew how to code one myself, because it's obviously possible since there are apps that can get at the attachments, just need to add the feature of batching the process. C'est la vie...

Idk if this will help but I've been using a really convenient (free) app called SMS quick delete so you don't have to go through each message one by one to delete them so every so often I delete all of my texts and save the ones with the pictures and save the pictures on sd card then delete those messages, it is alot easier than going through & manually deleting each text one by one.
I was looking at2 apps that look like they might back up SMS &mms messages cuz you've probably noticed most of the SMS backup apps don't save pictures but it looks like my backup pro $5 might and I came across an app that I was thinking of trying called something like txtract SMS backup I think its $3 but it says it saves the pictures. (But you'll have to go through it & select the messages with the pictures you'd want saved.)

I use SMS backup+ which will back up everything to your gmail. It will do it as they come in but you can do it en mass when you install and set up the program. You can then clear your dialer storage and not have to delete everything 1x1.
