got my TB sunday and right away went home and used the original root program on the first page, i made a video documenting it so you guys can follow along or get an idea of how it goes. it probably took me like 30+ minutes to do this, but i just cut out a lot of dead time. check it out,

Thanks for making this. Im always a fan of visual guides. This should help a lot of people out.

I am going to be getting rid of my tbolt and want to unroot. How does unrooting compare to rooting with this method?

no problem man, im the same way as far as visual guides. I really like to see them first and how it goes/the process and things that i can look forward to what will happen. I couldnt find many good videos plus ive been making root videos recently so i was happy to do it.

I am going to be getting rid of my tbolt and want to unroot. Exactly what does the unroot process consist of with the files on here?

in the first post, theres a link to the same program but does unroot.

I did a battery pull and it finally booted. Do I move on to step 2 "Start root from after downgrade"?
from the off position hold volume down and power. it will boot and at the top it should say S-off, if it does proceed with step 2. if it does not start from the begining again.

auto unroot copies the misc file to your system tricking your phone into thinking that you are going to update it. This allows you to downgrade back to stock image like you got it when you bought it

I had even installed the OTA from the leaked version and I ran "auto unroot", and it worked great. I am back to being non rooted. I did it because I wanted the official version of the update and I want the official verison of Gingerbread when it comes out. I may root again after, not sure. I tried several different kernals and really did not notice any gains on improving battery life. I wasn't crazy about the screen shots I was seeing from those who had rooted and used different ROMS, so I don't know if I'll root. I don't see that big of advantage by rooting. I'm still weighing it out.

Ive been trying this for a while now. I get to where it says "checking PG05img.zip"and it just takes me back to the fastboot option and doesn't go anywhere (do you want to start update). I tried going through the whole thing a few times and it always goes to this step and stops. Any suggestions?

are you using the new version from the post prior to this one or the original??

....are you on the downgrade part, or is this on the upgrade.

most likely the file didnt write to the sdcard

well i tried it on the new and it didn't work so I thought I would give it another shot with the old. This should all be on the downgrade. Is there a way to start clean?

when you say it didnt work what do you mean, did it give you any errors on the new one....you pull the battery and start over to start clean.
