Bad news about ICS for the Thunderbolt

YES! The last OTA STUNK in my personal opinion. Didn't need it, regret taking it. This phone was perfect before it. Wish I could go back.

You can go back, no root needed; flash the previous RUU (2.11.605.9). Just be sure to back up your stuff first as this would overwrite the phone (NOT the SD card though, but it's still wise to back it up too).

2.11.605.9 RUU (file name: PG05IMGmr4.zip and size: 440.8 MB)
Thunderbolt Ruu's - Minus

This is the previous release from back in December 2011 that still has the hyperlink functionality the latest software version (2.11.605.19) took away due to Apple (see link below).

• After downloading the RUU, rename it to "PG05IMG.zip" Note: If you're doing this from a Windows machine, make sure you don't rename the file "PG05IMG.zip.zip," as Windows hides known file extensions by default.
• Drop the file on the root of the SD Card
• Turn off your device
• Hold Volume Down + Power to reboot into the bootloader -- the file should automatically be detected and the flashing process will begin.
• Wait for your device to complete the process and reboot
• Delete the PG05IMG.zip off the SD card or move it off the root directory to prevent the phone from accidentally starting the flash process again should you attempt to get into the bootloader in the future.

I also would venture to guess that if they were planning to axe the update, they would have done so at the same time as the Desire HD, not waited.

That's possible, assuming they tested both phones at the same time. But it could also be they tested the Desire HD first and are now just getting to testing ICS for the Thunderbolt.

If they planned on releasing it in between July and August, I'm sure they have already started testing. They should at least be on the last stage of working with Verizon to be testing signal and battery issues. Just guessing though.

Hopefully we see leaks between now and then.

Does Holo launcher do anything that Go launcher doesnt do?

No, it doesn't honestly. Go launcher seems to have more features in the waybof transition animations and what not. I'm running jesters jellyblur with Go and it rocks. It's a fast ics/jellybean skinned version of cm 7.2

Do you get any popping or stuttering with your music playback? I was running Thundershed 1.6 and had to stop due to the music playback. It's the way I listen to music at work. Couldn't take it. But loved the Go themes that I am running skyraider Zeus with Go Launcher. As for the ICS release, I would love it to come out so I can Flash a kick ass rom of it. But otherwise I really like what my phone is doing now. I make it new once a month. LOL

The popping during music playback is due to the kernel that comes with the ROM... if you switch to a different kernel (I recommend zoom kernel v1.1) then the music stuttering will stop.

Ah I should have tried that one. I tried the Lean Kernel and that didn't fix it. Must try it out again when I have some time.

Wow, THANK you! (sorry, just saw this - dunno what's up with Tapatalk not letting me know it was there!)

Ok, that's a cinch then - if we don't get ICS, I'm going to back to this last stable build.

Hopefully they're telling the truth. Only 22 days left in Aug.

Interesting. If that's the case, we should have a leaked RUU anytime now. The fact we haven't yet is concerning as it's been the norm in the past even with the Froyo to Gingerbread jump. The Rezound had at least one ICS leak.

Anyway, sounds like HTC is saying they're working to have the update finished by the end of August, which it's then up to Verizon to approve. So, it could be into Sept. before anyone sees an OTA (assuming it goes live). Time will tell...

Will the tb be the first single core phone with ics? If they get it before the dinc2 that is?

Nope the nexus s has a single core (and less ram than the thunderbolt as a matter of fact) and ran ics fine. It is actually now running jellybean.
