Battery Life EB01

I've been off charger for about 5 hours and I'm at 78%. Did some web surfing, checked email, messed around with beautiful widgets, and made two phone calls.

that is still putting update.zip in a sub folder. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, do you get an auto play window that pops up?

EDIT - I mean when you plug your phone in with debugging on and then mount the sd card

Yes. The card is mounted and debuggin on. The auto-play menu pops up. I hit "no action" and then open the F disk. Is that wrong?

5 Hours 67%? Im down to 40% within 2 hours.

Have you tried the method ChrisD suggested. I did the same method except with the additional step of powering the phone back on after charging to 100% with the phone off, charging again to 100%, then rebooting to recovery and wiping battery stats. Let it drain all the way to the 5% then do an uninterrupted charge back to 100%

Do that again, but when the auto play opens up, click on open folder to view files. This first directory that opens up is the root of your sd card and that is where you need to put update.zip. You should see folders in that directory like clockwork, system, etc. Once you put update.zip there you will be good to go.

EDIT - Sorry, or you could have opened the F:disk and ende up in the same place. Either way that is the root of your sd card

Finally got it! Thanks for sticking with it Landshark (this crosssed two different threads and lasted about three days for me....what a relief!). Yeah the F disk was opening to the same place and I had put it there before but it worked this time so I won't question the cyber Gods as to why it didn't work before. Again, many thanks!!!

Take "update.zip" and make sure it is sitting at the very top level of the SD card. My directory header says "mnt/sdcard/" That fixed the issue I was having, which sounds the same as yours.

Got it finally and thanks for the input. It was good to see someone else had the same issue so was hoping it was just a matter of time.

Congrats! and Happy Froyo! I had the same exact issue when I first tried to root so I knew right away how to help. I was placing update.zip in the subfolder called sd card. Can't explain why as I do not have that knowledge, just know recovery will not recognize the update.zip file unless it is in that first directory.

I flashed EB01 earlier this week and have been getting AWFUL battery life ever since. I flashed SC2.4 this morning hoping that would help but it's not much better.

It's funny because on DL30 I had great battery life, now it's horrible. Going to try flashing back to DJ09 then up to DL30 to see if that helps.

Chewy, try this method. It worked for me and for others:

Charge your phone to 100%, power off and keep it charging til it hits 100% again, turn it back on, charge back to 100%.

Then long press the powe button, choose recovery. Once you see the blue recovery menu, hit volume down button once to apply sdcard:update.zip and hit the home soft key. This will take you into red cwm. scroll with volume down button to advanced, hit the power button, scroll to reset battery stats, hit the power button. Hit the menu soft key until you are back at the main red cwm menu where highlighted at the top of the list will be reboot system now. Hit the power button and wait for phone to reboot. Run your battery down to 5-7% off that single charge. Plug back in, and charge back to 100% (preferably with the phone off, like overnight)

Funny thing with eb01 it seems to flag funny a LOT. Try dropping to stock di01, and go straight to the build you're using now if landsharks advice don't help.

I guess I have some good vibes coming my way...

I have already charged from ~40% to 100%, turned the phone off then continued to 100%. Currently running battery down to dead with Pandora streaming, full brightness, 10 min backlight, GPS, WIFI, BT, etc. Going to charge back to 100% overnight.

If that didn't work, I was already planning on flashing back to DI01 and then back to EB01 SC2.4. I will keep you guys posted on what happens. Thanks!!!

Hi Shark,

When you say "turn it back on, charge back to 100%" does this mean;
use it until it is at 5% and charge it back up or
just turn it back on, it might read 98% and charge it back up to 100% again?

The second. then when it reaches 100%, unplug it, go into recovery and wipe battery stats, reboot phone, let it drain to 5%, then charge to 100%

My battery is A LOT better after I fully recharged to 100%, reset battery stats, ran it dead, then charged to 100% again. Thanks again for the help!

I moved to superclean 2.4 and man was my battery crap...only been 8 hours and its already down to 50% before on DL09 I could go 2-3 days on a charge.
thats just talking and testing periodically.
gonna try the suggestion above too, will let you know if it fixes it.

It took flashing JT's EB01 voodoo kernel buy my standby time is finally acceptable now and not dropping like a rock when it's sitting still.

so, would you say the voodoo kernel offers better battery life over the nonvoodoo kernel?
