Battery life sucks as a Samsung usual

Then return the phone and get something that isn't Samsung. IDK what to tell you other than that. No one is forcing you to have it, and while I'm sure many people appreciate your less than tactful presentation of your distaste for all things Samsung, there are plenty of other phone manufacturers out there.

I'm interested to see what happens when people start recieving their AT&T and Verizon phones. I have a gut feeling that this problem will be almost non-existent on those carriers.

You'd think the first instinct of some of these people would be to read the reviews of people they trust, compare it to their own experience, and then wonder why it's so wildly different. This would all mean so much more to me if it was more common. It isn't. I'm sure it'll be even less common when the other variants get shipped. I'll be sure to confirm that tomorrow.

I'm sorry but I don't see the issue here? Almost 23 hours per charge? Sounds good to me! Screen on for almost 3 hours with 64% battery life left!
What are you complaining about?
The screen was on for 1 hour 20 minutes, not 3 hours.

1. Return your phone.
2. You're in the minority.
3.How many times have you battery cycled.
4. Vocal minority.
5. You should've read/watched reviews.

Common responses to posters who complain about issues with their phone. You'll never win.

Or you know, you can admit that there are some battery issues with the phone?

I still love the phone, its fast, and fluid, and looks fantastic. I also love the Edge screen, but the fact that turning on Wi-Fi causes serious standby drain, and the fact that it gets worse battery life then my M8 with less use is a problem.

I'm waiting to see how battery life for customers using att pan out.

Well, if you're in the minority, you're in the minority. There's definitely an issue with WiFi/standby with this device, but there's issues with that with Lollipop period. When you read/watch review after review that don't suffer any of the UI slowdown and their battery, while still not great, is far better than your own, something might be wrong.

But no, rant about how much Samsung sucks because a phone you got before launch and had a week or so isn't behaving the way you want, even though countless reviewers/users aren't having the same problems or having them to the severity you are. Perfectly reasonable response.

Android authority and Android Central both note battery life being just "okay".

So please tell me how you've summed up that countless reviewers and countless users are having no issues and that everyone else is the vocal minority.

This is exactly my point.

I know for sure that Android Central is using the TMobile version of this phone and I've seen them post a screen shot that had the way higher than normal Cell Standby % use that others in here are complaining of. There is a bug, there is no denying it. I'm just hopeful that the bug is something that is easy to fix and it will be fixed soon. I've seen people that don't use WiFi at all getting upwards of 7 hours SOT and that's 19 hours of being off a charger. This phone is highly capable of having very good battery life. There are some bugs though and there's no denying it.

Stick it out and hope for the bugs to be fixed soon or return the phone, those are your options. You can go with a phone like the M9 or any other flagship this year which will have subpar battery life due to hardware (not fixable) or you can stick with the S6 which is clearly a software issue (fixable).

Link for reference of the times I stated above: Perhaps this will soothe worries about the Galaxy S6 battery life? : Android
That's with WiFi off at all times and with auto brightness on.

what does carrier have to do with it?

There's a very good chance the carrier has everything to do with it. WiFi calling and VoLTE and other things that appear to be causing people issues aren't even available on most of the big name carriers. Like I said, turn off WiFi even if it's just for a few hours and see if your standby usage/drainage is significantly better or not.

The fact that some people are getting very good battery life is a testament that it's not the phone's hardware that is the issue here.

It looks like AT&T customers will be receiving their phones tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if they have similar issues.

The phone radio shouldn't be using that much and also I don't think the WiFi active should be using that much. Here's an example of what my Galaxy S3 looks like:

Also, in your picture, your WiFi was on for 23 minutes out of the 40, so I'm not sure how you can say your WiFi was off.

How do you turn volte off?

Don't have mine yet but I think is under Phone settings. Reading and seeing your screenshot with the high Phone radio percentage, it make sense to me that in your case is also related to VoLTE, turn it off, and give it a couple of hours and see if it gets better.

So you think the phone radio doesn't need to be on the entire time the phone is one? You realize it HAS to be on in order to receive calls and texts right?
