Battery Life Sucks... Literally

Just activated my S3. So far I like it. I've just have to remember how to do everything.

So all of a sudden my battery has started to drain like crazy for the last two weeks that I had the phone no issues what so ever. I would work and use the phone all day and come home with 40%. Now I can physically see it draining.... I cannot get the GPS to turn off, I have reset and did a battery pull but it keeps coming back and you can see that I have it turned off.... HELP HELP!!!!!!! 88% and I have only been up for 30 minutes today...

Did you download an app that maybe you authorized to turn on or use your GPS? Even then my GPS is on all the time and i don't experience battery drain like that.

What intervals do you have your e-mail refreshing? I see you have multiple e-mail accounts and 54 e-mails. I hooked up my work e-mail to this phone and it crushed by battery life. That maybe your problem if your e-mail accounts are syncing every 5 minutes.

These are my current stats

On a typical workday starting out with 100% charge before leaving the house I can go all morning with Music Player, a few txt messages, random e-mails and a few quick browser checks leading to ~ 90% charge at worst. Soon as I leave my part of the building and park the phone in my gym locker (in the basement and metal locker), I notice battery levels have dropped by approx. 20%, or down to the low 70s. I suspect that the phone is constantly searching for signal during the whole time its captive. I'm in the gym maybe 45 minutes, so that may give you an idea of how quickly signal searching can drain the battery. I have mine set to Power Saving mode with all of the mode settings enabled. So on a typical day, captive gym time included, I get home with around 50-60% remaining charge.

So this is bad as far as android system use goes?

How would I improve my signal strength? My cell standby right now is only 7secs less than my phone unplugged time.

I was experiencing really horrible battery life when i got the phone (used) so I took the advice mentioned earlier and cleared my device cache and did a reset and now my battery life is great. I can easily go a full day with normal usage, before I could not. If you're disappointed with your battery life, it's definitely worth a shot to clear the device cache.
