The size of the G2 is pushing my limit. The Note 3 is even bigger, right? But thanks for the suggestion. Moto X feels fantastic in hand. G2 doesn't feel as good, but the screen is so awesome looking. Pretty much ruled out the HTC One because of the weird speakers on the front. I rarely ever listen to anything through the external speakers, so the design isn't really for me.

If size is a factor then the moto x is what I would go for. The Note 2/ Note 3 is only a tad bigger then the G2 but with much more options and better battery life, along with the option to swap battery's if you need to. Also once you get used to the size you would never be able to go back to a tiny screen again.

It sounds like the Moto X is best for you though. It is a great phone after all. With a very nice feel to it and the option to make your own is very cool.

Good luck and as long as it runs on Android it's a good choice IMO.

Good luck finding better battery life short of the Maxx. Everyone here raves about battery life, so do you think something may be up?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Note 3 that's soon to be released is said to have on average 20% better battery life. So you can get better battery life but not by much. You will get a bigger screen and much more features though as well. And the Note 2 really isn't that much bigger. After a week anything else is just to small. I couldn't downgrade to a smaller screen after owning the Note 2. The S-pen is also something I wouldn't want to live without. It can really come in handy.

As far as the G2's battery life. I'm sure there will be some kind of patch to fix it for the people who are only getting 3 hours on average. I get 5-6 hours on average on my Note 2 and that's before the phone hits 20%-30% though it does depend on signal and if you're on LTE or Wifi and what you're using three screen for. If it's games then it will be lesser then watching video it surfing the net or forums. As well as your brightness, ect.

Good luck with you're G2's they sound like great phone's. I hope the battery issue gets worked out.

i went from the note 2 to the iphone5. had no problem getting used to the smaller screen. lol.

I'm currently traveling so I have airplane mode on, and wifi on for the majority of the day in the hotel and office.

Time off charger: 23 hrs 35 mins
estimated time remaining: 6 hrs 34 mins
47% left

screen: 2 hrs 47 mins

normally i would charge it now, but not sure what is best for the battery. let it run lower? or just top it off to 100% now?

It's best you charge it now. As long as you can fully charge it. You want to try and not let it get below 40% if possible. It's fine once in a while but for these battery's it's actually better that you charge well before its about to die.

I charge my Note 2 at 60% most of the time. Unless I'm using it heavy. If I let it get to 10% I can get about 7 hours of on screen time. But from what I've researched it's better to charge it before half the battery is drained. It shouldn't be an issue unless you are a heavy user and move around allot.

So Google services has been running in the background for 2 hours of the 5 hours on battery. I think it might be because I'm in a building with no 4g and it's trying to find the signal.

I stopped services and now my weather widget won't find my location. So it's location services related.

I have had many phones over the years including the Note 2. By far this is the best battery life I have experienced for the screen size of any phone I have ever owned. The Note 2 at least for my preferences was a tad too big and I rarely used the s-pen stylus. It had great battery life though. I used Moto X for a few weeks and enjoyed the active notifications however in my daily use when I put it on charger at end of the day it was close to 15% battery. With exact same routine and use this phone is usually around 45-50% I am very impressed! GS4 which I had for several months under same conditions usually around 20%

I think the Note 2/3 are just too big. The G2 is pushing the limit IMO. I don't think the change in size going from the G2 to the Note is as minimal as you say, IMO. It's just too big. With a 5.2" screen, it's really plenty big for me. I was OK with a 5" screen, so a 5.2 is great. I also like the look of the G2 better than either of the Notes.

Beyond that, and most importantly, I don't like or have any need for the stylus. I bought and returned the Galaxy 8" Note for that very reason. I wound the stylus inaccurate and frustrating in addition to not really having a use for it. I would up with the Samsung Tab 8" without the stylus. That unit is a bit smaller with smaller bezels, which I liked.

It's great that we have a wide open market for all these choices!

Everything I've ever read about Lithium batteries has said it pretty much doesn't matter how low you let the battery go. They have no memory and thus no real need for special care. Do you have a link where they're saying something different? I'm just curious.

The only special care is to not let them completely die. That is the only think that is really bad for them. Well that and excessive heat, but that is true for all batteries.

Interesting. I like the look of it. Is there a good replacement besides the weather channel app? I liked the 5x1 size widget of the stock app and the look of it.

Just got my G2 on Verizon yesterday - any idea how/why the DLNA is draining so much? Or how to turn it off? Pressing stop does nothing...

The Note 2 or 3 is substantially larger than the G2. Proportionally if you compare the 3 phones the G2 is only slightly larger than the MotoX while the Note 2 is much bigger.

Granted I agree if they want a smaller phone the MotoX/Nexus/HTC One would be the way to go.

So, while I really like this phone otherwise i've been kinda underwhelmed when it comes to battery life. Especially given the rave reviews. Here's a screenshot of today, a fairly typical day for me in terms of phone use and battery life. Not great, especially considering under 2 hour of screen on time... any thoughts?

Also his held awake time was 6 hours. Something wasn't letting your phone go to sleep.
