i meant 6am this morning

Received the phone and charged it via the usb cable while I set it up. Had to go to a meeting so I kept charging it via the car charger - it was about 90% full when I unplugged it and used it lightly.

Plugged in overnight for full charge, turned on @ 5.30 am used all day for music, emails, surfing, streaming music etc (mostly on wi-fi) at a medium use level. Went down to one bar @ 7.30 pm.

Fully charged it (about 2.5 hours wall charger) and went to bed.

Very pleased so far, battery life seems better than my BB Tour which was very good for 2 solid years.....Hopefully it keeps getting better.

just gonna have to buy another battery to check it out. the relatively subpar battery life can't get me to return this phone - everything else about it is too good. just gonna have to hope that all i had was a bad battery. it doesn't make sense for my phone to be sitting on my desk, toggling autosync on for 1 minute every 15 minutes and be losing 5% battery life per hour.

So even with disabling the screen lock modifier there was no change?

You're definitely having an issue with the battery. I would go back to verizon and ask them to give you a new battery.

yeah unfortuintately it didn't help at all. i bought the phone through amazon who's support kind of sucks. i mean i already bought an extended battery which is on the way so i'm just kind of hoping to see a scaled up version of the kind of battery life others have been getting here. that way i'll be able to see if its actually the phone or if it was just the battery that was an issue.

thank you for the suggestion though.

For those of you with Inc2 battery life issues, as I had, I came across the following (link below) in the TalkAndroid forums. Take particular note of Item #4. Supposedly, HTC provided that routine. Apparently it's some sort of battery conditioning process.

My phone could sit on the counter, all apps killed, unused for anything, screen lock on, in sleep mode, and the battery would lose nearly 50% of a full charge in 12-18 hours.

I tried the tip below, and it seems to have made a big improvement in how fast my battery drains. After 8 hours of emailing, internet surfing and general dinkin' around on the thing today, I'm only down one battery bar. The process is a little tedious, but if it helps . . . hey, it's worth the effort.

For the record, I did not use a wall charger for this, but rather a USB connection on my PC.

i highly doubt that tip came form htc as i had an email straight from htc which i can post here saying that bump charging (tip #4) is very bad and can end up damaging your battery.

I won't argue your point, 'cause I frankly don't know where that came from. The only point I intended to make was that it made a big improvement in my phone.

I dont think it ruins your battery because i bump charged my Dinc1 since i had it last May and its still the same. Dinc2 battery is SOOOO much better. no bump charge

just saying what the htc rep told me. below is the response from htc.

"That's a good question, Ben, and I'm glad you thought to ask. This is in fact the expected behavior for the battery. There is a particular protective circuit in the phone which prevents the lithium-ion polymer battery from being charged up past the recommended level, which is in fact below its real full capacity (think of a gas tank on a modern car which "tops off" below its actual 100% capacity). There's a very good reason for this. If you were to use "bump charging," which I must emphasize is NOT recommended by HTC, and charge the battery past this "100%" level with the phone off (therefore with this protection circuit engaged), it could actually damage the battery or reduce its lifespan. Here's what I would suggest instead, a method called "training" the battery: instead of just plugging in to charge at whatever power level the battery has, let the battery discharge almost entirely, down to the point where the power-saving features engage and the phone actually powers down - and only then plug in and recharge to 100%. Repeat a few times. Customers have reported to me that doing this to a new battery especially seemed to have extended the standby time and reduced the charge-up time. In any case, as long as the phone is on while charging, there'd be no harm in giving this battery training a try. Also good to know is that the USB port of your PC will charge up the phone with 5v, but this is slower than charging from the wall plug. In any case, I hope you will keep in touch if we can do anything for you !"

I don't know why bump charging is still be talked about seeing as multiple users, including myself, have stated it's not needed at all.

well even though multiple users have said its not needed, it actually is still a problem as the htc rep told me. so for the unlucky people who are still seeing the problem, bump charging is not recommended.

Phone Charge

Has anyone experienced the phone shutting down completely after a long charge? Ill plug it in at night, and when i get up in the morning, the phone will be completely off and the battery will only be at 94-97% when i turn it on.

No I think i would look into getting a new one. That doesn't sounds good.

Just got my Incredible 2 last night, replacing an original droid. Charged it up to 98% before I went to sleep, when I woke up it was at 16%. I'm freaking out a bit, because I need this phone to be reliable when I'm on call.

I've read that maybe the battery needs to be charged to full a few times and I'll make sure to do that.

Wifi was enabled, which was how I used my Droid with no problems. Turned that off for now.

I do use the Battery Indicator app. And had the phone set to automatically sync the weather, although it looks like that only happens every four hours according to the settings.

I turned down Brightness this morning, but that shouldn't have been a factor while I was asleep, as the screen was off.

Anyone have other ideas that I could do to make sure that doesn't happen again? Or reassurances that their phone acted like this and then after charging it a few times it was OK?

So I've done some stuff since I posted this this morning:

Installed Spare Parts
Turned off Wifi
Updated that Blockbuster app that seems to be causing problems for people
Charged it to 100% twice

So after charging it to 100% the second time, I disconnected it at 2:18 PM and then only checked the battery a few times during the next 90 minutes or so:

95% @ 2:40
91% @ 3:01
88% @ 3:23
84% @ 3:41
82% @ 3:54

I go into the battery tattletale thing in the control panel and PVMtpServiceStart has used 85% of the battery. From what I've read, that's the blockbuster app. I was not able to disable the updates to it since I don't have a blockbuster login. I guess I may have to create one, but that sounds like a huge PITA since it requires a credit card. Anyone seen a similar problem?

I saw that and would like to avoid such drastic measures. But I'm sure I'll eventually go there. :(

ETA: Spare Parts reports that the phone isn't sleeping at all.

I'm so annoyed by this. I guess I can try rooting it, but will that void warranties and such? I can't afford to buy yet another phone.

its a temp root, so it gets undone once you restart your phone. but frozen apps will stay frozen.
