I have had my G6 a week now and it has (so far) the strongest battery life of any Android I have owned, and I don't get it? None of the reviews have raved about battery life, in-fact the consensus seems to be that it is comparable with the Samsung S8+ et-al. Over the last 2-3 years in addition to iPhones I have owned, an S6 edge+, BB Priv, 3 S7 edges and now an S8+ and without doubt for my use the G6 has noticeably the best battery life. I always set up my phones for good battery, disable background data, disable apps etc.
Maybe this comes down to my use and that if you put the G6 on a video loop test it would probably be no better than the rest but for normal every day use it is IMO a step up from my S8+. Specifically in addition to normal use it seems to be far better when doing nothing i.e on standby. My IP7+ set itself apart from any android in it's standby performance, I have often left it unused on my desk at work when in meetings and it has barely dropped at all even after 4 or 5 hours, the G6 seems to share this trait which is a big surprise.
Always thought the iPhone advantage was due to the hardware/software optimisation but maybe it's also due to LCD vs OLED or other factors too. If so will be interesting to see how the OLED iP8 does
