Best Buy Finally Called and Asked Me To Return The GN

Best Buy employee here too (well former, as of two months ago)

Worst case scenario: Best Buy is fined by Verizon for breaking the street date and loses competition in the market. Wanna know why you'll never see a Motorola Droid 2/3/4 or Pro at Best Buy any more? (They used to have them) Not same, but similar situation. Best Buy and Verizon got into disagreements and Verizon revoked their rights to sell them. As for the employee, he/she gets fired. (Maybe he had a past history of mistakes and this broke the camel's back)

Most likely scenario: Best Buy gets fined, employee get reprimanded. Which could be as little as a "Careful next time" to losing a few hours in the next couple weeks.

Granted, these are hypothetical.

Frankly, the damage is done. The phone was sold, the employee messed up, the company pays for it. In his defense, as a company, Best Buy is horrible with distributing information to their frontline employees. If it weren't for my own desire of phones, this mistake could have happened in my store, and probably has happened before, just not on a phone this important. We had a case where we got phones in to be sold a week before hand at 10am and weren't told until 1pm to not sell them. Before that, there was not information given on the street date unless you go through the hassle of searching inventory system. Either way, the employee did mess up because, he should have known better working in a phone department. Sorry, tis the truth.

tl;dr: Returning won't do anything but save face for the employee/store where it happened. Not like his job rests on you returning it or not. It's yours, and if it were me, I would keep it.

All thus assumes that there is nothing wrong with the phone, but yes good post overall. I always wondered why I didn't see Droid 2&3 in the BB Mobile store.

Time to go social network stalking for the OP.

Now that's funny as hell. We all seriously need to get a life! Myself included.

Who does this??
Seriously....We are all on a forum discussing a phone over 98% of us do not currently own, over 90% have never seen it live, and not sure when we will.

I'm am not insinuating that I'm above or below this non sense. I'm in the thick of it with y'all.

Makes no sense! LMAO!

the answer here is simple. use the phone, and if VZW bricks it - return it to BB for refund

You can't lose here.

Galaxy Nexus on contract $300
Galaxy Nexus off contract $700
Galaxy Nexus on ebay $1200

OP totally making up this story = Priceless!

Sent from my Fake, Delayed, Overdramatized, Asked to return Galaxy Nexus

Ask for a $100 - $200 Giftcard for when the phone is released, if they don't agree then Keep the Galaxy Nexus (The Holy Grail)....

Tell them that you'll return it on the 14th, then delay it to the 16th. Then spread a rumor that you'll return it by the end of the year. Then, call them and tell them you have an issue with your wallet.....

:)

I already liked and thanked this post. But I had to reply and quote just because it made me bust up laughing.

Reading posts like this one is one of the only reasons I can come here and still manage to logout w/ a smile on my face.

Ahh, I see what you did there.

I went to best buy to deal with this in person and spent two hours there trying to negotiate even the smallest of reward or gift card or even a discount on something else and they wouldn't do it. I spoke to a manager and three reps. All were freaking out about it and had a look of fear in their eyes needing to get the phone back "Because we want to make sure you don't have a faulty phone" but in reality, I could tell someone was in trouble. I told them, work with me and I'll return it. I spend an hour and a half activating the phone and trying to purchase, an hour total drive time dealing with this and the two hours trying to negotiate the return, and they wouldn't work with me. Not even a $50 discount on anything. they tried to push the razr on me. I said "If you can discount it, you have a deal"they wouldn't, then I said I might consider if they had the 32 Gig iphone 4s which they didn't and said all they could do is order me the 16 gig to pick up tomorrow. I said I didn't want it and the guy said he would call me back tomorrow. I told him not to waste his breath and I won't be returning. then I left.

The only problem I face now, Is I did notice a screen defect where you can see burns in the screen on low lit setting and while on white backgrounds. It's like 4 or 5 burn lines from top to bottom of the screen. I might just take it back for a refund as now that I notice the problem, I don't want to be stuck with it.

BB was making it sound like this phone isn't coming out anytime soon and they were trying to do me a favor and protect me from the "Software Problems" that have delayed the phone. I asked flat out if the rep who sold it to me is in any kind of trouble and they said no. So I don't know what the deal is. I can tell you the guy I was dealing with tonights face dropped when I said no and walked out.

Going to go out on a limb here and say they don't give a crap if your phone has a defective screen. Wouldn't that be nice, if BB had such great customer service that they actually personally called you every time they suspected something might be wrong with your phone?

Thanks for posting back - I wonder if this 'defect' is at all related to the screen issues as on the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 screen problems - long thread on T-Mobile S2 Forum.

You called their bluff, because if they had legal rights in forcing you to give them the phone back then they would have shown you their hand...they tried to scare you, you called their bluff, & you walked away unphased....good sh**!
