Best Buy Orders

I knew this coming in, but I had little choice with almost $500 in rewards and gift cards

That's cool...but you knew what you were getting into, and made an intelligent decision based on rewards. But we definitely got some folks who act brand new...every year.

I am only speaking for myself but last year wasn't as bad when getting an AT&T S21 Ultra from Best Buy.

That's a really strange way to do a pre-order. So my phone has to ship to a store first, then that store will ship it to me? I was told I'd have it on release day
Correct....so the store gets the phone and the store ships the phone to the cumstomer.

Also Best Buy is pretty strict with releasing devices ON the actual street date. They're systems can't activate phones before the the actual street date. They did release a couple of Galaxy devices a couple days early when i worked there. And it was a mess. We were on the phone with Support all day.

Also if you all ever wonder why Best Buy requires you to activate phones with them to take advantage of getting the phone for a cheaper price or promotions, thats because Best Buy get a kickback for every phone they activate.

If you buy the phone flat out, Best Buy doesnt get money off that sale. Thats why they typically try to persuade you to get a phone on installments or through a carrier.

Thats my best buy info type of the day lol

Best Buy has just ruined my night with this. If a local store has one I’m gonna see if they can just let me pick it up from there. This is complete B/S. I ordered 2 weeks ago.

So even though my order says ready by 4/1, if I go to the website it says I can order and have it by March 3rd. Hopefully the status of my order changes in the morning. I knew something like this would happen, but seeing a bunch of you guys with phones already is making me jealous.

Rule of thumb: Never, ever, NEVER preorder a high-demand device from them. They will quote you a release-day arrival, which will come and go without so much as a peep. If its a lower demand device, always choose the shipping option, never in store pickup.

Places my order on the 10th of February for in store pickup and still waiting for an email!

You’ll be waiting. I ordered a Fold 3 and release day came and went without so much as an email. I called them and they said that that date was only if they got devices, which they didn’t.

How long before you got your order?

Yup...that's exactly correct too! Thats the caveat..the saying when i worked there for us to tell customers was "Preorders only gurantee you will get the device, not WHEN you will get the device."

When I found that out, I started telling all my friends and family never to preorder from best buy.

Best Buy makes their preorders so appealing because they give customers gift cards. That really dont do anything for Best Buy. Its just to entice customers. The customer receives the gift card and of course they're happy cause they use it to buy accessories or whatever "at best buy" Best Buy eats the cost of those.

I know i said i wouldnt preorder anything at best buy but when it comes to preordering specific devices , i would NEVER preorder a Samsung from them for sure. Samsung promotions is a lot better and you have a better chance at receiving your order on or before release day, plus it's always cheaper if youre trading in.

How long before you got your order?

For the Fold I ended up switching it to shipping and got it the Monday after. So really only a 1 business day delay.

I initially preordered the Ultra through them without a date, which then updated to April. I canceled my preorder through them and got it this past Wednesday from Samsung instead.

I ended up cancelling my order with Best Buy, and ordered from AT&T for the $800 credit, trading in my old work phone. I'll use the gift cards and rewards for something else, but the wait will continue on the phone.

Still waiting on my 256Gb black unlocked Ultra to ship from BB [pre-ordered 2/19]. Unfortunately, I have to wait it out as I'm using $700 worth OF BB gift cards from a phone trade in. I would have ordered from Samsung had they actually had a trade in value for my Pixel 6 Pro [it wasn't even listed as a choice for trade in].

This means the phone is actually getting sent out, right? This is not a pre-order. I ordered it on the 27th. I hear so many horror stories. Best Buy was my last hope, because my AT&T pre order was stolen.

Mine was delivered today! If it weren't for my dogs going crazy I never would've known it was delivered. UPS never knocked on the door or anything to let me know they dropped a package off.
