Best Buy Pre-Orders

I think this is where I bid this post goodbye - Nothing is going to change tomorrow as the pickup date, so I am going to stop obsessing about it.
Its there, I will have it, exactly when I orginally anticipated it...

Enjoy your phones folks!

Smartest man in the thread! :)

Thats whats up in the air. I haven't read that anyone that received the "Your Order Is Ready For Pickup Today" Actually was able to pick up their phone yet. However, it's still very early as well.

What I'm trying to decipher is that the members that's getting ""Your Order Is Ready For Pickup Today" if they are In-Store Preorders or Online Preorders?

What I'm leaning towards is that MAYBE Online Preorders may be able to get picked up today versus in-store preorders. That's just my guess though...lol

My online status, app status, and phone system status all state that pickup for me is on the 19th. I went on my lunch hour to pick my s8+ and was told that Best Buy will not give me the phone until tomorrow (21st). The salespersons all told me that pick up on the 19th just means that it is in the store as of then. But, I cannot pick it up until tomorrow. This is frustrating.

What's the problem waiting one more day lol. Unbelievable

If they have it in the store they should allow those who preordered to get it now! It should be that those who did not preorder must wait till till the 21st, but thos who preordered can get it a day earlier

I mean technically, if you ordered online, you have paid already and and they have the phones and the website says it is ready for pickup. I am not sure why they won't let us. I know tomorrow is release day and all that. But they have hit my CC with the charge, I just got a contract agreement by email with a 3/30 date on it.

All evidence points to this being my property. Well with the exception of possession. LMFAO!!!!

Plus shipped orders are arriving.

From a customer service and PR standpoint - I just think it's ridiculous that their system is telling us to come and pick them up. As I said above, the BB app says NOTHING about the 21st. In fact, it said the S8+ was "Available" 2 days ago. To me, if they are delivery the S8's to people at home today who ordered online, there is no reason that those of us who chose to pick it up in-store should have to wait.

I'm not overly exercised about this...I simply think it's really bad form on their part.

We don't well at Christmas either.

Exactly!! I mean why do they have to be so strict about the 21st for pickup when they are shipping it out to others who preordered earlier?

I don't think they do. One person showed he is getting it today. I really don't see them having an issue if it says it is ready and you walk in and ask for it. I mean if it says it isn't ready and you walk in demanding it that is another thing.. but that isn't the case.

Almeuit,

Who was successful in getting it? Everyone I saw was not able to due to system issues.

Well I called my local BB and asked if I could get it today he told me "Samsung is strict about us releasing it on the 21st" and I really don't see why?

And the status of my order says its ready for pickup today

I think he saw my picture but didn't read the text. The picture shows me *just about* to receive the S8+ - before the evil POS system (and I'm not entirely sure that means 'Point of Sale' in this instances) snagged it away from me.

I am going to go get mine in a few hours. I ordered a Ipad from a deal on a deals site from Best Buy and i called as i got a email it is ready. I asked if i can get my S8+ at the same time. The lady put me to the manager of the mobile department and he said he had 3 people today come in and try to get it and the same thing happened it said tomorrow. He said they have got a lot of calls since it says ready for pickup. He said he will override it as they are done answering to people coming in with ready for pickup but the register will not allow it. Anyway it can be done if a manager overrides

No problem if we were given accurate information.

The problem is that Best Buy is notifying many of us that the phone is ready to be picked up today. But when we go there (which in some cases is a considerable commute), we're told it's not in fact ready.

So the problem is that Best Buy is issuing false notifications, is not willing to stand by the promise made in those notifications, and is not even offering customers reasonable compensation for being misled into making an unnecessary trip to the store.

I hope that's true. I ended up talking to the store manager at my location and he told me there was nothing they could do. I didn't *really* *truly* believe he was 100% powerless, but since he gave me $50 gift card to go way, I accepted. :)

Everyone I seen on here, including myself have been told that even though it says it's ready for pick up now, it's really not and have to wait until tomorrow. I'm ok with that because I understand the difference in preordering for delivery vs store pick up but who's been successful in getting theirs today with this scenario?

I just think it's poor communication from Best Buy in how they are updating the order status. Just shouldn't say it's ready for pickup now. Just have tomorrows date like the email they sent lol. It's going to cause them a headache with people calling and showing up. It's always something with Best Buy and preorders lol.

As far as I'm aware, there is no way to override it. Manager or not. Street dates are extremely important and it's not up to a store manager discretion to break them. There are serious contractual implications to doing that. This is a Samsung issue, they have to give Best Buy permission to break street date.

Oh wait .. I misread the post. Ignore me .. Trying to read, post, and had to rush to a meeting lol xD

He is 100% powerless. The decision to break street date is WAY above an individual store managers pay grade.
