Best Buy Preorders?

No phones will be sold/delivered before the official Sprint launch date, which has now been pushed back. Retailers are not allowed to sell or deliver the device before the launch date per contract. This is standard with all phone launches, whether they have stock or not... :'(

I have not received an official email or call from BB in san Jose CA. But... It does seem like all orders pre or not will be held. I'm really tired of my EVO too I think I might just mess with gnex and return once my EVO comes in. Damn apple played a good hand here I give them that much. But seriously I will never buy a apple product ever. Thinking of making a shirt with the EVO LTE on saying "this is the phone apples afraid of" or come up with a fancy slogan and parading through the apple store

I would imagine retailer contracts with cell providers would be very similar to retailer contracts with movie studios, video game studios, etc. Sure, they could probably sell the phone early but they would risk losing that partnership going forward. I work for a large retailer and we see the memo all the time stressing the importance of not selling street dated items early. If the violation is severe enough, we could lose the rights to sell future items from that manufacturer. Can you imagine the financial impact to Best Buy if they violated the contract and lost their business with Sprint?

I have heard of Sprint stores selling phones a day or two early so not really all that important to Sprint. I believe that the legal issues will prevent the phone from being sold. Remember it is the Federal Government putting the stop to the sale and importation not just HTC or Sprint. If there is still a problem with compliance and retailers had sold the units there will be all kinds of fallout over this and not the good kind.

BTW I wasn't aware that they would give me 50 for trading in my old EVO 4G

On a different note, BB was telling me about about the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection and the Buy-Back program. Seems intriguing. Have any of you had experience with these two programs? Yup I have both. $10/mo gives you piece of mind. You can brake your phone 4 times like did and receive a new phone within a week without paying extra. By far that is the best insurance anyone can have hands down. Yes the buy back program is another must have specially if you want to upgrade every year. I bought my phone on launce thats the evo3d and they will be giving me $280 for it. I'm paying a merely $15 dollars to upgrade to the EVO LTE.
But back to the bad news I just got off the phone again with the BB mobile rep and the phone will be delayed indefinitely! If BB in your town is telling you different tell them to read the notes they have on there computer. Damn and it kinda feels like this will not be a quick and easy fix. There's a lot of money and technical details involved and when there is things tend to drag on. I hope I'm wrong!!!

nothing of note other than the phone is delayed because of "INSERT HTC OFFICIAL RESPONSE"

Good friend of mine from BB in Miami Beach said they would be calling all customers who placed a preorder to let them know the phone will not be available Friday. I do not know if this is a companywide policy.

He also said that they are doing this mainly to be proactive. They are not 100% sure they will not be selling the phone on Friday, but they rather have to make a second call letting customers know that they did receive the phone on time. They feel that early next week is the latest this will be shipped.

I can respect that. Sounds like they aim to do the right thing. If it weren't for Android Central and you guys in the forums i'd be in the dark, eagerly awaiting delivery tomorrow.

I preordered through bestbuy.com very early on 5/7 and haven't gotten any status besides my order confirmation.

My order status shows as backordered still.
