Best screen protector?

I ordered one just for the fact that I was getting the Innocase from them and saw a video review of a Zagg product on YouTube where the reviewer had the Sedio item there to compare it to, he preferred the Sedio product and based on the review of the Innocase I figured why not.

I'm receiving mine tomorrow and if no one posts until then I'll let you know my initial thoughts, but hopefully someone can help us out here.

This is because the Hero has an oleophobic coating on it that makes it scratch and smudge resistant. As far as I know the only phones on the market with this coating are the Hero and the iPhone. I have yet to hear that the EVO has the same. It should be easy to confirm one way or the other though. Somebody just needs to look at the light refraction on the EVO screen at an extreme angle. If there's a coating on it there should be a visible "ripple" effect.

If the screen is plastic or has no coating I'd recommend a PhantomSkinz protector. Not very easy to put on, but very durable and not too tacky once you get some finger oils on it.
I am guessing that the Evo doesn't have this since I do get smudges on mine. Anyone can confirm?

The Guy at best buy conned me into an invisible shield and I think its rubbish. I was playing with an evo without one and it was so much nicer and was more smudge resistant and does have HTC's patented teflon type coating. The Invisible shield is soft, and makes dragging and swipes harder on the phone. also it does remove smudges with a simple swipe on the jeans as the BB rep suggested. I am gonna ask for a refund before i rip it off. I dont know this for sure, but I think it makes my phone worse in the daylight too.

I got a chance to play with an EVO yesterday. I'm 99% sure that it doesn't have a oleophobic coating on the screen. Smudges were not easy to get off, and I saw no "ripple" effect when looking at it from different angles.

Boxwave is by far the best. Don't buy into the hype of the invisible shield and similar screen protectors. Stay away from any that require liquid to install. They all have a rubbery feeling to them and an orange peel look. I used them in the past and moved to boxwave and have never looked back. I believe there are a few others out there that are similar to the boxwave, but I have not personally tried them. The boxwave is harder plastic and stays completely smooth. Once it's on you wouldn't even know it's there unless someone told you.

I put zagg invisible shield on and it kills the swipability and from what I can tell the daylight readability. I would hate to pull this bad boy off and send it back but I might have to.

What's the next best option for use under the sun, I would assume that some are better than others?

I had a Zagg on my Hero, hated the rubbery-feel, but liked the protection. Don't think I will go that route with my EVO. I had a BB Tour from Sprint, and used the original plastic screen cover and worked fine... if the one on the EVO didn't have the text on it I'd probably left it on till I figured out what to use. I am going nekkid now and SOOO afraid I'll drop it...

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!

I have a big question about all these Screen Protectors. If they cover the full screen, how does that effect the front camera for video and pictures. Do they still look clear or do they effect it and blur pictures, video, etc?

I got the Sprint Screen Protector at launch and was thinking of ordering Boxwave, but it cover the whole front screen, including the camera. Before ordering, I would like to know the effect by all the full coverage screen protectors.

Let me clear some things up ...

1) yes the Evo has oleophobic coating on the glass. Want proof? Go into your bedroom or living room at night (must be dark) and turn on your tv so its the only light in the room. Turn off the screen of your Evo and hold the Evo up between you and the TV and look across the screen. See those waves, like the screen has little wrinkles? That's the coating on the glass. Oleophobic is a liquid coating and doesn't dry completely flat hence the waves.

2) oleo does absolutely nothing to make the screen stronger in any way. It simply makes the screen resist oil, smudges from sticking. That's it.

3) the type of glass that's actually stronger than regular glass is called gorilla glass and as far as I can tell, the Evo doesn't have it.

4) you want the best screen protector get ready to pay. The good ones typically cost $10-15 for a single screen protector. Don't buy the cheap one size fits all ones then complain, they are gonna suck lol

5) screen protectors are not really protectors anymore. Back in the day phones had plastic screens and were susceptible to scratching. Now they are glass (glass is a mineral, stronger than a plastic screen protector) so if your buying a screen protector for protection, you'll be sorely disappointed.

6) now that you are informed, screen protectors are great for certain things:
-the good ones deal with oil and smudges even better than the Oleophobic coating.
- you can get protectors that are anti-glare which make using your phone outside easier
-a screen protector with a texture like anti-glare provide easier finger scrolling when sliding your grubby mits around your screen

Hope this helps!

P.s. I'm a boxwave fan

Most screen protectors are designed to NOT cover things such as the front facing camera, proximity sensors, etc. I put the zagg shield on it was cut around those things and I believe that the boxwave ones are too.

I contacted Boxwave about this over a week ago and they said their Evo screen protectors will actually have cut-outs for the front facing camera. So it won't be covering the camera.

Thanks. I was hoping that is what they were doing. I sent an email to them to ask that question. I might just call them tomorrow to confirm that they really do have the cutout. Yes I have Boxwave phone number.

I thought to myself wow this phone is pretty giant(which by the way I really enjoy its size and cant believe I dealt with a smaller size phone for so long) and a case would make it unnecessarily even more giant. So I bought the Invisashield from BB and my girl put it on for me and I couldn't be happier!! It feels so much safer now that I have it on there but it kept the same size and form!!! Perfect 10!

Phantom Skinz (Cell Phone Screen Protectors, Invisible Protection Skins & Screen Covers | PhantomSkinz.com) is the absolute best and most affordable way to go! No "orange peel" look. No tackiness to the touch. They have a very detailed guide for installation and if done properly, you can barely tell they are installed. I had one skin for the whole year I used my Palm Pre with no problems. I just ordered the screen-only skin from them for my EVO and, as always, they give you a BOGO free deal with every purchase. Also, if you enter "summersales2010" in the discount section upon checkout, you receive an additional 30% off! Two screen protectors for $6.95! Free shipping, too!

Seriously can't be beat!

SCREEN PROTECTOR - all the way

I'm looking for a good screen protector with the following requirements:

1. UNDER $10

2. Anti-glare, the ones that feel almost like paper when you touch them

3. Covers the ENTIRE front of the device, not just the screen part

Any recommendations?
