Bestbuy delivery

Ok, so this could get more interesting/irritating . . .

KF, YK, and SHD, do y'all mind sharing your general locations?

I dont wont to reveal my location, as I think I got away with something. I dont want to get a BB employee in trouble for my good fortune.

This is all very weird.

I returned my playbook today. They had the HTC flyer stock but they would not sell me one till sunday. I hate how some people got it early. rules sucks, specially when some people break them.

I asked if the pen was in the box. She told me she opened one up for the demo unit and it had the pen inside. She said they also sell the pen for $79.

Either way I wont know til Sunday I guess.

From what KF posted earlier, it sounded like Best Buy initially refused to hand out his as well, but then later back-pedaled. Incidentally, that was right around the time that the post appeared on the AC homepage showing a leaked internal email from Best Buy telling its stores that Sunday is no longer the hard street date for the Flyer, and that they should sell 'em if they've got 'em.

Either way, my Best Buy store still hasn't called me. My store is in San Carlos, California.

EDIT: here's the link to the post about BB telling its stores to open the Flyer floodgates.

Thanks, YK, and I understand, KF.

But I just called the Little Rock BB (not the closest to me, but the largest BB in Arkansas). The gal said they have plenty and are allowed to sell them NOW. Since I have to go to LR tomorrow for an all day business meeting, I may just wait till on my way home tomorrow eve to stop by. In the meantime, I must cancel my pre-order NOW! :) giggle giggle

I am very impressed with the build of the Flyer. I have handled or owned the Iconia, Xoom and Transformer.. the Flyer feels better than all of them. Though the Iconia is close.

If I shut my eyes and pick up the Flyer.... it feels "Apple-ish". :)

KF, I might have considered the Iconia if I'd never heard of the Flyer; what's your opinion of the Iconia, please?

Nice build... but heavy. The Transformer has a slightly better screen.

My beef with the Xoom, Iconia, Transformer is the screen shape. Not sure if its 16:9 or 16:10... either way the tablet in landscape mode is too oblong for my taste. In vertical mode it is way too tall. I much prefer the dimensions of the iPad when you get into the larger tablets.

The dimensions of the 7 inchers, such as the Galaxy Tab and now the Flyer.... are perfect IMO.

Just got the call from my Best Buy store -- unfortunately I left my receipt and gift card at home today because I was expecting Sunday release, so I'll have to figure out when I can swing by the store.

Nope, up north, near San Mateo and about 30-40 minutes south of San Francisco (on a good day). I wish it were down by SD!

Ha! My husband was in the USMC and then on the SD PD, and the entire time we wanted soooo much to visit SF (but with four young'uns we never could afford the trip). Well, I apologize for gettin' us off-topic here . . .

I'm with you. I have had all of the mentioned tablets and (for me) the 7 inch size is key. Just got the Flyer and the build quality seems awesome. They took an "Apple type" approach w the aluminum and the white cord and cable.

Woot.

I got my HTC fyler!

I went to another store and the guy was I spoke was a big android guy. We both have Droid X and I talked to him about roms and he was very helpful checking to see if he was allowed to sell it.

The only problem was I had to wait 90 mins till they could find them!

Oh well

I have it now!

Heh, seems like nobody's Flyer pickup today has been quite seamless. For mine, they realized when they went to apply my $50 pre-order gift card that the employee who took my pre-order billed me the $50, but didn't apply it to the gift card. Fortunately all they had to do was refund my $50 and charge the full amount to my credit card, but it took them awhile to sort it out.

Its alot better in person. Its alot faster and more refined. It could be the ones that the reviewers had might been earlier software builds.

Comparing it to my Droid X they added so many nice festures. Task manager in the notifications bar, easy access to the market.

I am not sure about this pen. Maybe I need to turn it on? But I do not see any pressure sensitivity going on. At that point why bother with a active digitizer? Might as well use a capacitive pen.

I had to dropbox google voice apk from my phone. The market wont let me install it as the tablet is not a phone. I still use it for SMS.

The screens feels bigger then the playbook but I think that is from the way design of the case is. The case feels very apple ipad 1 like. The screen looks like an IPS but its an SLCD.

Note - netflix not working on device :( sound plays but screen is white.

So, SHD, are you FLYin' HIGH yet?? :) What's your fave feature?

The pressure levels are not as refined as, say, on a Wacom (standalone tablet or tablet PC), but they're there to some extent. It's a little clearer using the chisel marker pen tip or the paintbrush pen tip than some of the other choices.
