BestBuy: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Wondering if I should call Best Buy. I ordered on the 1st for delivery to my address, Verizon, Orchid Gray, but still just showing as processing. Normally that isn't an issue, but seeing a lot of examples of people ordering later than that and getting shipping notifications with Verizon. The charge is pending with my CC right now.

Did anyone who recieved their phone early have it stuck on "processing"? Maybe I should check the mailbox.

I went up to my local Bestbuy and asked if they will be releasing the note early for in-store pre-orders. They said no, and I told them that literally every carrier including Samsung is shipping them early and people have already received them. The associate then told me the phones are already there and he called the manager to see if they could release them. The manager said no and stated that anyone that shipped them early broke protocol. So now my note 8 is sitting in a cabinet 5 minutes away and I can't pick it up for another week. Bestbuy is ridiculous....

Here is the corporate response... doesn't look like any in-store pick ups will happen early....

The associate at your local store was correct; Best Buy is not authorized to fulfill in-store orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 prior to the release date of 9/15. Please know that no retailer or carrier is authorized to fulfill in-store orders at this time. Samsung recently notified us they authorized early shipping of online orders. While you may cancel your existing pre-order and create a new “Ship to Home” pre-order, there are risks of activation issues, we cannot guarantee the order will arrive prior to the 9/15 release date, and you would lose your place in the pre-order line.

Please let me know if you need assistance or have additional questions or concerns.
 
I for sure would have picked home delivery if it was an option. I asked the associate at the store when I was ordering it if I had to pick it up at the store or if I could get it delivered. He said I had to pick up in store. So his lie ended up causing Best Buy to lose a customer.

did you order online or in store? in store is the party line. if you want delivery I would think to order online.

Thank you for forwarding this on. I'd imagine I'll get the same email. It would have been great knowing this two weeks ago! If there is a freebie availability problem hopefully all these places, probably more on Samsung, make it right for customers who pre-ordered early. They are supposed to issue vouchers for a certain amount that will cover the freebie value, but we will see.
 
In store because I had to go there for something else. I would not think that ordering in store would prevent you from receiving shipment at home. I could be wrong though I guess.

you wouldn't think so, but we don't know really. I'm just saying that the policy is to keep things in store so they can get you for the accessories, etc. corporate is probably the only one you might get the truth from imo.
 
Just spoke to corporate. According to them, my phone in particular is in the store. Obviously that means they are all there. They can't tell the store to release them. She suggested that I speak to the manager and see what they say. She stated they might be prepping to release them soon. Going there right after work today. Store is in Middletown, NY. I'll post later what they tell me.
 
Ordered mine (Verizon, Midnight Black) on the 24th at around 1AM via online for home delivery...Elite Plus member, too. Mine is still in "preparing"...ugh. How did folks order after me and get them waaaaay before me?

I have VZW and pre-ordered in store for in store pick up. I just got off of the phone with my BB store and they said in-store pick up will not be available early at all strictly on the 15th. I then called local VZW store to see if I could pre-order with them and get it earlier. They said anything orders on or before the 4th were shipped out yesterday. Anything after the 4th will not be delivered or available in store until the 15th. So anyone on VZW who pre-ordered for in store pick up that did not change their order to VZW before the 4th is out of luck and will have to wait until the 15th regardless.
if you have it delivered you'll have it before Friday

Bolded the above part. Ridiculous that corporate is saying they can't tell the local stores what to do. Let us know what you hear from the local manager!
