I know the pre-orders won't be live till later tonight (12 AM for most) but I figure getting a thread going where people can discuss their thoughts about their pre-order with their carrier/store in mind wouldn't hurt, right? .

Usually Best Buy does offer better pre-order bonuses then Verizon direct. If you go through Verizon you can't get the perks from Best Buy.

Of course Best Buy is usually the cheapest at launch/preorder but don't expect to be one of the first with the phone. They are usually the slowest to ship and pick up in store can be iffy. But hell my S8 Plus is holding strong.

Also usually with Best Buy you pay the taxes up front (at least I had to with the S8+).

Have any VZW customers ever had BestBuy inadvertently change their plan when upgrading a device thru them? A VZW (not BB) rep did in the past, and right now VZW is really pushing their unlimited plans, which I absolutely do not want.

be careful they will try to change your plan. Just keep telling them You just want the phone on your plan thats it no changes. Dont do add ons as far as insurance even if you want it. Do it after on your own or go to the vzw store after to add the insurance. that way its plain and simple. Upgrade/add on to your account nothing else.

The safest way is to do it all online...make sure at the end it says something to the effect of "keep current plan"
