BestBuy: Galaxy Note 9 Pre-Order Thread

And how would Verizon mess up because Bestbuy didn't ship any 512's? They're stock doesn't come from Verizon directly. If they truly didn't have the stock that would be Samsung.

It would have to come from the major carriers directly. How else do you expect them load them up with bloatware from each carrier. I don't think Samsung would take the time to do that for each vendor.

The lady mentioned Verizon and BB have an agreement between the two. One of those agreements is for Verizon provides their flagships phones to them to sell. It would make sense for major carriers to ship phones to Best Buy since its acting as an Authorized dealer and not selling from Samsung directly.

The way I see it is, Verizon covered their own butts to stock their own stores first. Then will most likely release the orders to Best Buy when it good to go.

Actually the "bloat" is software related meaning it doesn't require Verizon to do anything. My Verizon S8+ and note 8 change the software based on what carrier chip is inserted.

If true though about Verizon supplying the phones to Best buy you just proved that I made the right decision by going directly with Verizon and forgoing the 100 dollar savings.

I would have gone through Verizon too, but saving 100 dollars was a better choice than what I would have gotten through Verizon. Just ill that they only sent like 2 to the store being only the 128GB model. I even ordered the dual wireless charger station and that came in on time. It was not a deal breaker for me to have the extra storage. Just have to wait and hope I get an update soon. :D

Verizon controls allocations and logistics for their devices- not their selling agents such as Best Buy. Unlocked would be Samsung.

Best Buy buyers work with the carriers to agree on allocations and this is based on preorder trends. In this case, supply is constrained, so Verizon said FU to their selling agents like BB.

Then again Verizon shorted themselves, since not many of their own preorders of 512 shipped yet. This is per local corporate Verizon and anecdotally from the gnashing of teeth in various forums.

Samsung is the culprit though, since comically under planned 512s. There are excess 128s.

Pre-ordered the Ocean Blue Samsung Note 9 512gb for Verizon on August 10th at 1:52 am eastern time on Best Buys website. I get an email late at night on the 23rd stating that my order for the Note 9 is being delayed and may not ship until September 22. Called Best Buy and got a song and dance about how they were shipping them as they got them and they didn't have enough to send to everybody on the release date. They were understanding that I was upset but there was nothing they could do. They have no actual estimate of when the phone will actually arrive. I am royally pissed because people who ordered for in store pickup got their phones and they ordered after I did. If I cancel my order now I go to the back of the line for priority so I feel like I am stuck. My local Verizon store is sold out of them currently.

Just a helpful public service announcement....

I spoke with a helpful representative on the best buy mobile hotline. She said that the reason that people are seeing the new in-stock date of September is that whenever a customer Pre orders a phone and the phone doesn't scan on the day it was supposed to arrive, their system automatically spits out an email with a new date that is 30 days in the future.

She even said that she has been in the phone with people who are complaining about the email stating the 30 day delay, when, in fact, she can see real-time tracking that is showing the device on the truck out for delivery.

She thinks that the 512GB units should arrive this week.

To put it even more into perspective, she said that their system currently shows a shortage of only 184 512GB unlocked blue phones across the entire United States. That doesn't seem too bad to me.

I hope this helps a bit....

Just a question not to bash anyone's choice of 512gb but, what are you needing so much space for. I have all my movies and songs on the cloud to watch anytime and will download for traveling when needed. I am also not a big picture taker or on tweeter or facebook. Are these apps eating that much space or are people doing a lot of 4K recording. My 64gb S9+ had over 40gb available and I know this 128gb will probably only use about 25% of space.

Most I dont see necessarily need the extra storage but a lot of us are getting the 512gb version to get the extra 2gb of ram. Now days with how fast they are coming out with new stuff on mobile it doesnt seem like you can have too much ram.

Also like my self it doesnt seem like you can have too much ram these days and with the extra 2gb of ram just makes sure everything will run snappy today and next year, hopefully.

I did not want 512GB, I would've been happy with 128+ expansion. But I did want the 8GB of ram for future proofing. I personally think both should've had 8GB, but Samsung clearly had other plans...

I always buy the better one, in this case. I decided that 128 is more than enough.
Few reasons:
1. The phone is not comparable with the new 5G, which most of next year's flagship devices will support.
2. I have been upgrading my phones every year, so I am (very) likely to upgrade this one as well, so 128 for a year is more than enough.

And lastly,
3. I had my note 8 with 64gb and that was fine. I don't have the need (unlike the "want") for more.

By getting the $100 off, and the phone was delivered to me yesterday. I think I made the right decision for me.

Plenty of people game on their phones. Fortnite (50,000,000 play it) just came out on Android and it's 2gb by itself. I have DOZENS of games this size like Order and Chaos 2, Hearthstone (Blizzard card game) etc. I filled up 100gb, on the phone, not the sd card, first night just putting my "old regular" games on. Since i'm keeping it for a year (at least) and games/apps just keep taking up more and more space and also I take 70gb of pictures videos of my kids a year and that's before changing to 4k video.....I will buy the biggest size you can ALWAYS. I'm so glad to never have to delete apps to make room for other apps ;)

If someone isn't a gamer and doesn't take a billion photos of their kids though the main other reason is the 8gb of ram. (which i also appreciate as i multi-task like a fiend, which the Note phones are made for).

My wife uses a 32gb S7 and will be getting my 64gb Note 8. She uses about 10gb I think? haha. Most people are like her, not me.

For anyone in the Washington DC area, the Bestbuy in Arlington and the one in Alexandria got a shipment of unlocked 512GB Galaxy Notes in. Both colors were available at 4PM when I brought a blue one.

That makes a ton of sense... They don't have enough to fulfill online preorders, but lets have stock on shelves in a store...

Best Buy controls unlocked since straight from Samsung. The carrier phones are sent and allocated via the carriers own logistics.
