Beware Samsung Trade Ins

Someone will sue them for all this mess.
Nobody will sue, it's not worth the time for $155, you will spend more then that. Only thing that could happen is class action lawsuit and that probably won't happen either and if it does the lawyers will get most the money. Just my opinion

It can be true. But.. don't mess with Texas. ;)

LOL! I do not hate people just because of Texas, or hate Texas... Just from personal experience, Texas and I just do not get along. :P

Although, when it comes to State Pride... NO ONE can beat Texas!!

Yes, I'm talking about class action. I don't care about greedy lawyers and their money, I don't want anything in return. But it may stop this mess.
I'm sure there are enough people to participate.

LOL! Class-Action Law Suits are a JOKE and the ONLY thing they accomplish is making the Lawyers rich.

There have been BILLIONS awarded in some HUGE Class Action Suites, but once you pay the lawyers (normally 1/3 or more of the settlement GROSS), then divide the rest up against everyone who fills out a form for compensation and you'll be LUCKY to get more than $25.

There was a suit that I was awarded damaged for recently and my cut of the $1.6b settlement was $35.05.

Tell me how this really helps the consumer...

I hate hearing stories like this , I did do a full video on my Flip 4 trade in the other day going into the box and every angle open closed and close up around the screen , frame just in case.

Unless you video yourself boxing it up in front of the FedEx employee, they could argue that you removed it after you videoed it.

This was worse a long time ago. Samsung wasn't reversing the charge backs and they wouldn't send the phone back.

That would lead to very interesting argument most likely in my favor which we could do a full Police investigation looking up the camera at the FedEx store see how the box was

Yeah class action would not be the way to go here. File locally in small claims court.
Then Samsung will have to appear in your local court or have a default judgement against them.
The suit for damages would have to be less than $1000 i think. But a local suit would mean Samsung will have to hire a local lawyer to appear.

They received my Note 20 Ultra on the 27th and it was accepted without issue on the 28th. I've never had them accept it so quickly before. I did take a video of it before and while I put it in the box because it was simpler than taking pictures like I used to - but to be honest, I'm not sure how much weight that would hold up legally anyway. From the time you stop your video to the time it is in the hands of FedEx, anything could happen. But I'd still do it anyway just in case - and I'm sure it would still add some weight to my case. It just seems to happen so much nowadays.

Since it doesn't seem to be happening at Tennessee, Samsung needs to send a representative to the Texas location to get to the root cause of why this is happening.

Agreed.....Anything could happen in between. I think taking pictures or video of the screen with the IMEI number would definitely help prove the wasn't cracked. As far as it proving it's still in the box it's more difficult unless as someone suggested you box it up at drop off.

Got the email today that they received my s22 ultra. Two hours later I got a email saying I was going to be charged $155 because my screen was cracked. Lol my phone was perfect! So I called Samsung and talked to a lady and she said she was going to watch the trade in video? Two mins later she get back on the phone and tell me the phone is good no broke screen. Told me I would not be charged the $155 now. What a joke I’m glad they fixed it.
They received my trade in in Texas yesterday. Then this am I get exact same email about charge back 155 because screen or phone s cracked. I immediately contacted Samsung. Explained my phone was in pristine condition when I sent it. That I had proof it was not cracked. She said let me watch the video of your phone being reviewed. Your screen was not cracked. She canceled charge back. My trade it went thru. I received confirmation email.

Mine was sent to texas, they received it yesterday and 15 minutes ago I received the text message to check my email regarding my trade in. Of course it was the email that I my S22 ultra didnt satisfy all requirements of the trade in program because your device screen or body is cracked. Stupid me never documented the condition before packing it up and dropping off at fed ex. The phone was flawless. I got on the support chat and with in 5 minutes of talking to someone the trade-in chargeback was cancelled and my phone was accepted. They must know by now that there is something going on at that facility because they didnt even ask me If I had any pictures or video from the packaging process. Still annoying to have to go through that to begin with.

They have video of the unboxing process at the trade-in facility. That is why they didn't ask you to provide any pictures or videos.

My trade in situation is straightened out now. I was on hold for a while, but the rep had to look for the video of my unboxing. It's strange that we have to go through this.

Glad they were able to get yours resolved. This issue just adds stress & inconvenience to a procedure that should be straightforward.

:(

I remember those days, and it’s why I never did trade ins. I took a chance one year and it worked out, so I continued to do it.
