Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

The fact that they are tells us that Motorola has known about this for a while and has been working their collective butts off to get the replacement hardware ready to go.

Doesn't matter how long they've known about it, they know have to work their butts off to get this ready ASAP or they're sunk. Moto doesn't really have much else going for them atm, considering how the Atrix and Xoom didn't make nearly the splash they expected (because they didn't fix all the issues first).

But this does give more credence to the theory that this revised Bionic borrows heavily from the Targa. Either way, we'll see in a few days when Panda gets his test unit. Definitely enjoy what's left of your vacation though BMX, sounds like you get precious few of those from what I can tell.

the units are back in testers hands? That was a lot faster than I had expected. Hopefully you get one as soon as you're back from vacation. Wonder how long units usually stay with testers? Additionally, since the unit has been in testers hands[assuming too much hasn't changed], I wonder if it will be a shorter time than usual?

Don't count in it :( it's still a couple months out.

I'd wager by mid to late July, but that's only if Verizon makes it one of their top priorities. If they push much beyond that, they'll be getting into the hype with the next iPhone.

I think that they would make it one of there Priorities To be their 1st Dual Core LTE phone I think it is a big Deal... I am thinking Late July to Early August release...

Not sure they knew of the issue. I think the etna was a long time in dev due to lte and the targa caught up. If you think about it there is not a huge change in android. So getting a froyo handset ready should not take Moto too long. Since they cut their teeth on the etna development it was probably fairly easy to get targa to the same point in r&d since it would be the second device or third device if the d3 is to be lte

I hope they do. I am just stating that it would have been fairly quick start up with the targa based on experience from the etna development. And starting on froyo would make it faster.

But definately at this point, no more new devices launching with froyo. Google should step in and not allow that.

I just got off the phone with a CS rep getting some account things fixed and asked about the Bionic. He said here is no word and they usually get training right before they are announced, and they just got trained on the Droid Charge last week.

I tried.

I think they will launch it with Gingerbread, because at the Google I/O they said something about the phones receiving updates on time. And Motorola and Verizon was on the list.Google partners with OEMs and carriers to guarantee timely Android updates -- Engadget

Oh, and something else, how do you update your profile to show what your current device and future device options. I can't seem to find it.

Phil,

Any word at all? It has been over a week since you announced this thread and the leaks are still nowhere to be seen.... :(

I'm just really hoping this thing launches soon. This upgrade I have is burning a hole in my pocket and my Dinc (1) is starting to feel small especially after geting my hands on some large screen phones.

Does anyone know what exactly they are changing?

User CP > Edit Your Details ... Good luck!

Honestly I cannot understand why the hype has gotten so bad with this device. It's like a car manufacturer showing a prototype vehicle at a major auto show. If it's ever in production, it probably won't look like it, won't have all the features shown, it just simply will not be the same. It's usually shown as a design exercise to gauge the public's reaction. Eventually some elements will end up in a future product but may not necessarily be all encompassing. It doesn't help at all to get excited about something which you have no verified substantial information.

That having been said, I am not immune to wishing for something nice and shiny. If this phone is anywhere near what is being said about it then it may just be the next best thing. My upgrade is due the second week of July and so far the only phone out there that closely fits my needs is the DInc2. I don't need 4G and until it is a stable platform I'm not going that route. Even if it means waiting another 22 months until I can upgrade again.

I've always tried to upgrade to what may be relevant two years from now but that is practically impossible now with the technology growing exponentially. I tried that with my Storm2 and look where that's got me. Maybe the Bionic will be more relevant than the DInc2. Maybe it won't matter because we'll have 5G by then.

Either way, I'm upgrading in July. Come on Moto. Release this phone or give us it's full specs so we can make a educated decision here.

I hear you on that. But you sound like me in settling for the Dinc2. I tried one and returned it promptly. Compared to my D1 it was no move upward but for a little larger display. Be sure and try one first. Check out the volume levels of speaker phone and ringtones and do some Webb browsing sites you consider taxing for the phone you currently have. The samples I tried failed.

So, with a HTC bad taste in my mouth I wait.
