It's odd that he won't share where he's hearing this date and also we haven't heard this date from any other Android sites.

I would agree.....pretty sure DL is the only place that I've seen much about the 9/1 speculation. I still want to believe it will be sooner than that, like within the next couple of weeks, based on the new displays that we saw were popping up in some stores with the device slot showing the "coming soon" deal. Just really can't see them putting that out there so far in advance if it was really a late Aug/early Sept launch.

As of right now he's the only guy reporting a specific date.

Hmm what if all of this date speculation is a stunt by Verizon to build up hype? Like maybe they are telling people September but then it surprises everyone and releases August 1st. I know it's a stretch but I can dream right?

Kellex doesn't give credit to anyone but himself so you won't know where he is getting this date. Heck when AC reported on the accessories a day prior to him he didn't give credit (basically called it his own find). Guy is a glory hound on the interwebs. I really try not to say negative about people in general but when it comes to professional courtesy this guy lacks it unfortunately amongst other websites. Why I said I take what he says with a grain.

But several of the insiders at hofo are hinting that August 4th is too early. They make it sound like late August at the earliest.

I guess this thursday and next thursday will tell the tale. All the speculation in the world can't change what will actually happen so since we are this close I guess the only thing to do is wait and watch patiently.

The main take away from all of this is to expect the latest time possible for release (End of August/Early September). We probably won't see anything official this week or even the next outside of leaks. It'll really surprise me if they opt out of official marketing and promotion this week if the August 4th date were true. I mean come on, this is a major release for Moto and VZW. I don't think they are going to give it the Droid 3 treatment (and they'll be stupid if they did).

Agree with the D3 treatment but both conclusions are just not smart. Going heads up against the iPhone in September will be certain death for the Bionic. Just based on fan base alone, whatever apple puts out is going to trump the Bionic media wise.

Well I agree with that, a September release would be a poor decision as well. It'll certainly put them in a tough spot.

I agree. Motorola just continues to make poor decisions. If the iPhone releases in September too, Motorola can kiss many potential Bionic sales goodbye. It won't matter if the iPhone isn't 4G (which it likely isn't) as 34% of people think the iPhone is 4G anyway.

. Man... such a crazy over a company that has terrible policies and overpriced products.

I can say 1 thing for certain, even if Moto is stupid enough to release the Bionic that close to the iphone, they wont be loosing me to the dark side. I'll never join the dark side.
