Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

That rendering posted on page 23 at HOFO is soooo ugly. I hate sharp edges

If its something like that, ill jus get an X2.

i like it! i like the metal finish and the bold style. Preach, where are ya?! back me up here... ;)

Metal is great.

The extremely narrowness is ugly, and how are sharp edges a bold style? Sharp edges make things look like old styles. Example boxy 80's vehicles. ROunded edges are technical marvels hahah.

And i thought nothing can get uglier than the kyocera echo at sprint.

I like it better than the Targa pics we saw, though I seriously doubt that is what the Bionic will look like. But I would def. Buy it with that form factor, I kind of like the Edgyness. Has that same sort of Bold, Man look that the OG Droid came out with that people did not like at first.

thank gawd i'm not the only one! lol i like the 80's - one of the best musical decades ever, 2d only to the grunge/alternative movement of the early 90's. :p i drive a Ford Flex, so i like metal and boxy, too...

I really liked the original bionic and didn't think i would like if they changed it, but I kinda like the rendering. Looks more...bionic

One thing I noticed with the rendering was the order of the buttons on the bottom. They are the same was the original droid, and off the top of my mind, I can't think of any other motorola phones that have this same order. Most of them have the back button in the third position, rather than the first when going from left to right. Not sure if this means anything or not, but it could be a pretty old concept since motorola switched to the newer order over a year ago with the droid x.

that concept rendering is rather old (it came out last year, right about the time rumors of the Etna and Solana surfaced), and has never been tied to the Targa. i just posted it because i thought it was cool, and Winston had said that the design was distinctive and unlike what we've seen so far...

Its the most ugliest thing i've ever seen. But it's personality(the specs) is what counts. I'd still get it.

I think it would be cool if some of the notification sounds were the bionic sounds they used for the Bionic Woman and Six Million Dollar Man.

Yeah it sounds like its a design nobody has seen yet. Anybody think the CES Bionic looked like a cheap piece of plastic? I love Motos designs but that one fell flat on me.

Looked cheap and plasticy to me. Oh my God! I didn't just say that! :)

Hopefully they will beef this thing up and make it look Bionic.

seeing as you live where "cheap and plasticy looking" was invented (LA), you would know :D:D

...and, i wholeheartedly agree with you on the original/CES Bionic design - blehhhhh...

Unless Verizon's fiscal year is skewed by a quarter, Q1 ended at the end of March, not June. I'm betting we'll see the Bionic in July or August.

Excuse me, I had a brain fart. I was speaking about Q2 and quoting their remarks about LTE device launches that would impact Q2, but typed Q1. Q2 ends June 30th.

I like it! It don't look wide enough to be a 4.3 though. Maybe if the screen went to the edges more. It reminds me of the stealth bomber. And like CK I was wondering if the CES had any metal in it. I posted that question in several boards but got no answers.

The Ugliest phone to me are the X & X2 and the Targa pics going around. But that's just my 2?, I'm just sayin.

80s music is definitely the best for sure.

boxy cars are nice, like the old jettas, for 94 or so i believe

but that rendering is an abomination

Most of the handset crippling and so on is done by the carriers, not the makers.

Are you surprised? Once the manufacturer sells you their phone, there are zero repercussions as far as they're concerned. The carriers have to worry about some dummy taking down their network. Don't get me wrong.... I don't like it either. Just sayin'.

Ask some Thunderbolt owners how they are enjoying Verizon's LTE network. From the looks of it here and my friend who's on it it sux :(

What did you expect? Did you ever hear "don't buy a new car model the first year it comes out?" They put these devices out early just to be first to market. I blame Verizon for not fully testing these out. Motorola is notorious for doing the same thing, so I applaud them for not rushing the Bionic.

Having said that, taking too long isn't good either. (Can you say "Hello Function?!?") ;-)

Questions For CK.

CK........ I see your join date here is April 2011 but know you have been into this much longer from other boards I frequent. I have learned to read your input with high regard.

As for myself, I dabble here and there and try to keep up but will go dormant for a month or so.

In seeing your view on the Bionic and the WebbTop feature swaying you away from the phone I wanted to ask about your typical usage of a device and how it would hamper you. And perhaps how it would or would not be a deciding factor on a less than power user like me. In your opinion anyways.

As for me wanting a Verizon LTE device the coverage in GA is unmatched. I do investigations that have me in the field viewing online maps that take a 3G a long time to render, just name one kind of database I have to render in the field.
The larger screen and speed will be welcomed especially when Navigating from the dash mount. Working the Atlanta area 4G is already here and I have seen the difference on anothers phone. I'm sure the reliability of the network will only get better. And Motorola has proved to me in my business the one to depend on.

So tell us how you feel who WebbTop as a possible resource hog would or would not be a factor in some typical applications. Please?

I still do not know a lot about WebbTop. Hell it may be the ticket for me sitting on the laptop mount next to me.

Thanks

Gapi the only negative impact WebTop will have on the Bionic is how smooth and fast it performs. Try out an Atrix for a bit and then check out some GS2 videos and you will understand what I'm saying. There is a noticeable difference in speed and smoothness. Use an iPhone and then the Atrix and you will "feel" the difference.

The Bionic will be a great device. It will do everything you need it to do and it will do it well but for me this difference in "feel" and performance is something i don't want to deal with anymore. My ideal Android handset will be as smooth as the iPhone and the GS2 delivers that (from the many videos )

From what you said I think the Bionic will be great for you. Its worth the wait for sure. I don't want you to think I'm saying the Bionic will be a bad device. I can't speak for anyone else but I think the really hardcore users want a butter smooth experience and WebTop throws a pretty big wrench into that equation.

I hope that answered your question?
