I don't know what Phil was talking about. I can't see how inventory leaks would start to show up now. Back on April 21st, Verizon said on their Q1 conference call: "Also, with the LTE launches, as you know, we only had two weeks of our first HTC handset. We are coming out with our Samsung handset very shortly here, and then LG will be following. So we will have up to three devices launched by the second quarter. So again, that's going to accelerate the growth." Q2 ends June 30th, therefore the Bionic couldn't launch before then based on this. How close to launch do phones show up in inventory? Anyone know?

Also, regarding 4G pricing, they had this to say "On the unlimited pricing, we are going to be going to a tier pricing in midsummer this year. That is a definite, and you will hear more of that as we get there. But yes, we will be going to a tiered pricing for both 3G and 4G devices."

I'll bet anything that tiered pricing begins with the release of the Bionic.

Looks like AT&T's new LTE network is going to be "more than twice as fast and VZW LTE".... Interesting. If this pans out to be true and AT&T / T-Mo continue to grow and develop better phones faster than VZW, things could turn out very bad for Big Red.

Having VZW and AT&T on the same technology would definitely be a Good Thing. Don't like what VZW does to their phones? - give them the virtual middle finger and source your phone from someone else.

Most of the handset crippling and so on is done by the carriers, not the makers.

Also as far as throughput of their networks goes - that is mostly a function of their network. If AT&T can put some pressure on VZW to allow higher bandwidth for a better price, great, and vice versa.

I've been with VZW since '98, overall they've never torqued me off enough to leave but my relation with them is similar to that of my cable company. I have no love for them whatsoever and use them (mostly) because they suit my needs.

Nope No one knows. It will only be speculation!!! In My Opinion I think it will be Early to Late August.

I want to buy a tablet which will tide me over till the Bionic.

But it seems kinda of silly buying a tablet that will probably be inferior spec wise to my phone.

They need to up the R&D on tablets ASAP.

Unless Verizon's fiscal year is skewed by a quarter, Q1 ended at the end of March, not June. I'm betting we'll see the Bionic in July or August.

Ask some Thunderbolt owners how they are enjoying Verizon's LTE network. From the looks of it here and my friend who's on it it sux

I wish I knew someone else personally who is on it to get their opinion. We are smack dab in the middle of great coverage here in L.A. and she complains.

Thankfully people are not paying tiered pricing for it right now. There would be a riot. We keep hearing tiered pricing by mid summer but if VZW doesn't fix this nonsense and fast there's no way they can charge a premium for a subpar LTE network and I think they know that.

I live in Ohio, in a 4G area. I do not own the Thunderbolt but my coworker does, to me its like being on WIFI, Superfast, No Lag... It's very nice. If it wasn't for playing with his Thunderbolt in a 4g Area, I would have upgraded to a 3G phone by now.

So it sounds like BMX has one of those phones that may sound better than it is since it hasn't been picked up yet.

This thread hasn't gotten out of hand (like those old Droid threads did, I think a couple got shut down for size) yet, but there is still time. Just wait until those Verizon testers start leaking pictures. Lots of people will love the design. And we will again get to hear comments about all phones looking the same but this phone does have a style all its own with the restrictions placed on it (large screen).


And all that camera talk, maybe Fauguy can start a thread where cameras can be discussed and someone can really explain the issues. Cell phone cameras are limited by sensor size, lens size, lens material, ISP, filtering, etc.
You want to get extremely rich? Find a way to make low cost glass lens for cell phones, it vastly improves the image quality over plastic and if it was low cost every phone would want it.
I think the Motorola camera is getting better. Want to hear something funny, find out who the Apple camera guy is and check where he came from.

I agree...That was the worst thing I've ever seen. Lets just hope that it comes out within a month. I'm tired of waiting. I might shoot myself in the foot and get an xperia play...
