Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

heck is Amazon is doing the deals that I hear they are then damn if I wouldn't be hard pressed to tell the vast majority of users to get a charge or bolt..

Man this is crazy, just when I think I know what I am going to do, some more news comes out and all I can do is scratch my head and I am back where I started. Almost like we are the puppets. Thanks for all the info that everyone puts out, just new here and don't know what to read into to discern what is really going to happen......

Yeah, I'll definitely take a free Charge if I can get one on upgrade. I could really use the savings, to be honest, as $250 after my NE2 is quite steep. I won't regret that one bit even if the Bionic came the next day. There's no way the Bionic will be $300 better than the Charge. Besides, I could sell a free Charge on Ebay for $400-$500 and get a Bionic for full retail and still come out on top if its that cheap.

But its crazy how this is all playing out. Right after I decided to get a Charge, and confirmed with you, panda, I see Oxn's post about this Amazon deal right as I'm about to walk out the door to go to Verizon. Then I see Phil's post about it being in production, and I'm back to my earlier thinking that it would be stupid for them not to release this as soon as realistically possible.

panda, again, thanks so much for your info and advice, but did you ever get your hands on that test unit? And were you cleared to leak anything regarding specs or form factor? Thanks bud!

The casualties of war will pile up this memorial day.

To those still not shaken by a long wait.......tonight we dine in hell!!!!

We can all dream, but 1 day of free 4g phones, and i don't mean "we've had in canada for 4 years 4g!", and many folks won't be stuck on POS Storm 2's that they replaced the screens themselves...

Unless their planning on using 1/16 of their production capabilities their is no way in Dante's Hell that this phone will come in three months.

I can't imagine they'd do a production run that big if the phone hadn't yet been tested by Verizon, would they? And that conflicts with other "leaks." Leading me to believe that perhaps the powers that be suspect who the leaks are and may be feeding them bad info in order to out them or confirm their suspicions?

Unless of course they condone leaks, but I would think CDAs or NDAs say otherwise.

:) wnrusell works for moto and is on these projects. He is an actual source not an intermediary (sp?)

People fail to understand he doesn't get second hand info he is the info :)

But surely he signed an NDA then, no? And if Moto truly frowned on leaks, couldn't they be narrowing down their suspects with bad info? Wasn't the Bionic not his particular project or am I remembering incorrectly?

Verizon won't change anything hardware-related. The only thing Verizon will touch is the software. (and if they're moving as fast as it seems they are, they could build them and load the software when its ready.)

I caved in today and bought the Charge. I couldn't take this madness anymore. Now I see that there is some buzz about an earlier release date? Ughh!

I should just stay away from these forums! I have two weeks to return the Charge. If nothing concrete comes out on the Bionic I will happily keep the Charge. It seems like a wonderful phone. The guys at the Verizon store were raving about it. Said there have been no complaints and not one return.

My whole theory since he has been doing this for such a long time is that they simply "work" with him. He's their best marketing tool in a sense because he slowly leaks info along the way. The thing with him is that once things hit the big tech sites it's already old news (if you follow him) or they simply get it all wrong. As an fyi he ONLY leaks info about Verizon's Motorola handsets.

To answer your question though, yes he's under a very "strict" NDA. But as I said he would have gotten the axe a long time ago if they weren't in bed with him on these these leaks.

Yeah, but wasn't the initial problem with the Tegra 2 chip and LTE not cooperating? Was that figured out by Moto then before it ever got to Verizon? I would have thought that real-world Verizon testing would have been needed to sort that out, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, all the leakers that post here or elsewhere have to have some sort of implicit permission. Its not like one of the nation's leading telecom providers couldn't figure out which one of their employees kept posting private information on public forums and on twitter. Of course they're allowed to leak the info, as I've said, its great viral marketing. If not, they would either be fired the first time they leaked something, or they would be asked to sign a more comprehensive NDA to continue their employment, preventing further leaks. Its great to hear info from the leakers, and they may release more than their companies sometimes wish, but its not like the companies don't know and allow them to continue releasing info. This is why they may have been able to mislead our favorite "leakers" as well as the rest of us, because they knew who the people were and wanted to keep us in the dark, for whatever reason.

Other sources of info, however, may in fact be secret. An employee could leak info to an outside journalist or individual with the stipulation that they not be revealed, in fact, I would imagine this is where Phil is getting his info (NOTE: I am NOT asking for confirmation, as I would much prefer that the leaks continue!). Regardless, someone not affiliated with the company has nothing to lose by announcing info they came to possess, and as long as they protect the identity of their source, there isn't much the companies can do.

Okay then, with all the rumors now flying from every direction I'm trying to regain my bearings. Am I correct in recalling now that wnrussell posts on Howard Forums and the last word out from those folks was...it's worth the wait? And that they, in fact, didn't say August, but it was only blackmanx, a Verizon dude who said that?

Good lord, this is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, and damn it, I WANT THE KEY. :D

[edit] Nevermind. I just went over to HoFo myself and I see it was wnrussell who said 2 months after Droid 3. I recall reading elsewhere D3 comes this June, so that means August. If they're smart it drops early August so it can be considered by the college kids before they go off to school.

When it said Motor 4g people assume bionic. This is unclear. Its hard to follow. People have become obsessed about this phone its ridiculous.

i dont everyone is obsessed with just the bionic, i think people just want a dual core beast with verizon.

I think everyone wants Dual Core 4G. Now if the GS2 comes with 4G in it The Biomic would probably be a failure. I am waiting for the Bionic/Targa but if the GS2 came with LTE inside. I will jump on that so fast.
