Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

Isn't Samsung the number 2 phone manufacturer in the world? And they will most likely be number 1 in the next 6-12 months? I think that would make them major players already.

lol Thanks for that. In fact, I couldn't help but think when I read the original post "Kulbinder Garcha? Is that you?"

Broker flips on Research In Motion, Motorola Telecom Stocks - MarketWatch

The man had a "duh" moment about Samsung and extrapolated to what I think an absurd degree on the basis of one quarter for MOT. He'll probably be right about lagging earnings wise in Q2 for Moto, since Moto had late Q2 releases (although it's kicking butt in Brazil and China) and then look like the hero on the Q2 when earnings dip. Samsung has the volume and world-wide carriers already established.

Nonetheless, how all the landscape is changing...my, my. Moto is within the realm of possibility for outselling RIM in Q2. I guarantee it for Q3. :)

Exactly. Things load so much faster that you don't even notice how much more you're using. I download apps in a matter of seconds, I download attachments and click links in emails, download files directly on my phone and put them in my dropbox rather than waiting until I get home to my computer, and stream Pandora and Youtube in high-quality with no buffering or lagging whatsoever.

LTE is actually really awesome, I have to give it to Verizon for that. You get used to using large amounts of data without even thinking about it, and there are many times that I'm sitting in my bedroom with my laptop right next to me, but I'll still just use my phone because I don't want to bother opening the lid and waiting the 10 secs or so for it to wake up.

And considering its actually several times faster than the slow DSL I'm forced to use where I live, I have little reason to switch to wifi unless I want to save battery. But my bedroom is pretty far away from my router, and I get 4 or 5 bars of LTE, so honestly there's not much battery savings for me most of the time.

So obviously the same amount of data is going to be the same amount of data whether you're on 3g or 4g, but the fact is you will simply use much more data once you have LTE, it truly changes the way you use your phone.

Also, why is there a need for everyone to lay into CK, Sharon? I'm not taking sides, its an honest question. So he doesn't want a Bionic anymore, big deal. I don't blame him, 6 months, 3 revisions, and a Droid Charge later, I don't want a Bionic anymore, either. My personal opinion is that I question Moto's leadership, and really wonder about their ability to provide a quality device anymore. And this is also a matter of opinion, but I personally think Pentile screens look awful, and I don't think an OMAP4 would make up for having 4.5" of that in my pocket for the next 2 years.

I know most of this debate isn't taken seriously, I'm just making sure it actually stays about relevant topics rather than against a particular person's opinions. Again, I'd like Motorola to deliver a quality device, as I love good build quality, and I know that many of their devices seem to be very well optimized for battery life and get a strong signal. But considering that even those traits don't seem to be characteristic of the Atrix or DX2, I'm starting to think this is now a different Moto than the one that brought us the OG Droid.

How do you see how many 4g bars you have?

I know the tiered pricing info is rather new, but I was hoping for some help in understanding it....

I am currently using an old model flip phone (don't ask), I am eligible for a renewal but want to get the Bionic yet lock in unlimited data. Tonight I spoke with VZ (the rep didn't even know about tiered pricing yet) and added unlimited data on my flip phone even though I technically won't be using using it.

If I wait for the Bionic to come out, lets say August and then sign my two year contract using the Bionic, will I still be eligible for the unlimited data on 4g?

Any replies will be greatly appreciated

I'm going to elaborate on your original questions here even though others have already given you some abbreviated answers. First, you must realize that half of our information is based on leaks, some really, really good ones like Verizon itself, but they have not been entirely fleshed out and NOTHING has been officially released.

This is the most current belief based on those leaks and some minimal confirmation from Verizon. Anyone who has an unlimited data plan prior to 7/7/11 will KEEP that pricing. The new tiered pricing will only apply to new accounts or to those that change their current accounts in ANY way other than upgrading a phone. Look to the news section of this site and also Droid Life for the details on this. Therefore, the rep was giving you potentially valuable information. Get the data plan now even if you don't currently use it if you plan on upgrading to a smart phone because it will lock you in to unlimited data pricing. And in a worse case scenario, if that doesn't happen you can drop the data plan, or go to another carrier.

I hope that clarifies things for you.

Thought you were a dude? I addressed you as a woman a while back and somebody corrected me.

So are you androgynous

What? Someone told you I was a dude? A dude named Sharon?!?! Is that something like "A Boy Named Sue?" Dang, I sure missed that post.

You sure it wasn't the way you addressed me as a woman? Perhaps they noticed or mistakenly thought there was a hint of condescension in your reply? ;)

Hmm, you got me. I don't know why EVERYONE has a need to lay into CK. Although, since most people here do want a Bionic maybe they find his lack of Bionic desire but ever present Bionic critiques irritating. I mean, how relevant is it to constantly post negative things about a phone you don't want? Some might even call if trolling. Not me. Nor am I judging. Just sayin' since you asked. We clearly all get that CK has an opinion on the Bionic and we all know already what it is.

So, you also don't want the Bionic anymore and have decided to turn the thread into a question of Moto's ability to produce, but demand that the rest of us stay relevant? Just an honest question. I could actually understand more if you were hanging on, but questioning. I guess I don't understand people who give up and still post here...to what end? To dissuade others? To be convinced anew? What?

Mainly because he's continuing to propagate lies and other negative things in this thread when many have been disproven and others are the product of his overactive imagination. .

So let me get this straight. My criticisms of Motorola's Pentile Screen, their complete lack of failing to keep ahead of the quickly evolving tech landscape and their abhorrent practice of minimal upgrades to existing hardware is propogating lies?

Is my OPINION exclusive to me? Is it a product of my overactive imagination? The answer is no. My complaints are legit and based on things that I have seen transpire over the past 2 years. It's a simple observation, nothing more nothing less. I don't make excuses for company's droid800 despite how I feel about them. I am fair in my criticism and I intend no malice.

Nobody has proven me wrong OR right. These are opinions and we ALL have them. The only thing some have proven is that they have a differing opinion.

You want all popcorn and bubble gum AC may not be for you. Whenever or wherever enthusiast gather there will always be dissenting opinions. Not sure how many years you've been on tech forums but this is how it is.

If you are new you just learned something if not well then I don't know what to tell you. You need to move on and quit accusing me of lying. Thats not my style and I have enough respect for myself and others to not do that.

Put it to bed Droid800. Whatever it is, put it to bed.

To discuss mobile technology. Why else be on a forum? Because I'm not getting the Bionic I can't or shouldn't discuss the tech behind it and if I discuss it I should only be positive about it?

I like Motorola. I like to discuss their product whether it be negative or positive. Unfortunately it hasn't been all that positive as of late. I guess if Motorola ever hits it out of the park again I'll be everyones friend :)

As a side note I can't remember why they said you were a guy. Oh I remember it was because I was "flirting" with you :)

BTW since you are a woman do you have a Twitter account? I have some....well. some pics I want to send you.

First of all, we don't even know if it will have a pentile screen, so stop with that nonsense. Second of all, you have ragged on the Bionic consistently for including Webtop, claiming that it uses resources and slows down the phone. That has been proven false. Third of all, you are claiming that this phone will already be behind by the time it launches, which is again, false. The processor it uses is on all of one phone at the moment, the screen is going to be one of only a handful with qHD resolution, and it will very likely have dual-channel, DDR2 ram, which very few phones have.

YOU are spreading false information, and YOU are contributing negative information to a thread that prospective buyers are going to see. What makes it worse is that you are not even buying the phone! IF you were, it would be different. But right now it just looks like sour grapes from your end for a reason that isn't entirely apparent.

Look, you're entitled to your opinion. But stop spreading false information about this phone, and stop biasing potential buyers against it through that information.

Its not that you have an opinion. Its not even that you have an opinion that is unpopular for this thread. Its that 1) you state your opinions as if they are fact and when someone makes an argument that you can't refute that's when you break out the "its just my opinion" card, and 2) you state your opinions over and over and over and over and over again.
You also disagree with anything positive that is said about the bionic. Someone mentions it has a new faster processor and you say that it doesn't make a difference. They say it has a bigger screen and you say it's pentile(which we don't yet know if it is or not) so that doesn't matter. They mention its got better quality RAM and you say that is got webtop so that doesn't matter(even though we don't yet know how Webtop will affect the Bionic's resources when its not active.) So whenever someone points out a positive you just shoot it down with an assumption. And you do it over and over and over and over again. I think if you were negative but bringing new things that no one has pointed out or considered there wouldn't be a problem, but that's not the case.
If you read your posts from any point of view other than yours, it looks as if the only reason you come here is to get people to not buy the bionic(and no, throwing in the occasional "but I like Moto" doesn't change that 98% of what you say is anti-bionic). It doesn't look as if you come here to talk mobile tech, but rather to take o ut some vendetta that you have against moto by turning people off to the bionic. I don't know you or your motives, I just know what I observe from reading your posts. I think if you looked at it objectively, its quite easy to see why people come after you.

And please don't point out one or two words in my post that are innacurate and base your entire response on those one or two words. You seem to do that pretty often.

How about we all just calm down a bit. CK and his opinions are fine. We might not like or agree with them but in a backwards way they are constructive. They are a source of debate and whenever he drops by with a comment, someone disputes it. If it wasn't for him half of this thread would not be here for our reading pleasure. He's like a car accident, you don't wanna watch but you just have to. Lol no offense CK. If it wasn't for the debating this thread would turn into a giant boohoo qq thread. At least we have gotten to talk about different possibilities, market flux, manufacturing theories, etc. Also, if someone were to come here and only read one post and it was CKs opinion and decided not to buy a bionic, then that said person deserves to get a garbage phone. Research requires more than just one post. If you are really researching, when the final specs and product come out, you should be able to figure out on your own whether the product is something you want. To say CKs opinion is ruining someones desire for a mystery product is kind of harsh don't you think?

Because they're different plans. The data plan you're on right now isn't a smartphone plan because you're not using a smartphone. The grandfathered plans will only apply if you're currently using a smartphone data plan on Verizon's network.

Lets just hope VZW doesn't change the rules on us. They could still screw us 3 G users when going from 3 G to 4 G. Even if I do buy off contract. When I went into the store the other day a rep told me regardless I would keep unlimited if I went 4G post data change. That just doesn't sound like a vzw move.

He dodged my refute to his claim twice.

Never answered it. Then says, oo its just my opinion.

Great news guys, my friend knows a sales Rep at a Verizon store here in Albuquerque, NM anda they are now receiving info and testing out the Bionic demos!!!

dont make me hurt you

Lol :)

But yea the Verizon sales Rep are having their meeting now that last 4 hours, so whenever its over or he's off work, I should find out soon. I also asked for the spec sheet/release date if that's available :D

Imagine if the Bionic really was released before Tiered Data came out and all our *****ing and fears would be for nothing. Of course this won't happen, but still would be nice.

I personally a STILL worried that since you have to activate 4G phones differently than 3G phones, that they will differentiate between the two and if I keep my 3G DX and upgrade to the Bionic AFTER 7/7, that they will count it as a change of service and tier me. People are pointing out that data is data as of now, but if they change that later, I will be pissed. The only thing keeping me from getting the Charge before 7/7 is the hope that this will stay the same for me.
